The biting cold wind swept through the streets.
Inside the deserted bank lobby, a row of zombies lay sprawled in various positions in the corners.
In addition to the human zombies, there were also many beast-like zombies.
After all, in such a large Zombie Legion, not all zombies possessed the powerful speed of the White Wolf.

Chu Donglin sat on a waiting chair in the bank lobby. Once bustling with people before the apocalypse, the lobby was now deserted, with only him and Liu Xiner silently occupying a row of metal benches.
In the quiet atmosphere, the girl suddenly spoke up.
"Brother-in-law, are you scared?"
Chu Donglin was taken aback. He snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the girl in front of him.
"Why do you ask that?"
Xing'er gently reached out and took Chu Donglin's hand, her face filled with concern. "I can tell... Even if you hide it well, I can see it. You're really scared... You're afraid of how Uncle and Aunt will react when they see you turned into a Zombie after we return to Wangcheng..."
Chu Donglin fell silent for a few seconds, forcing a bitter smile. "I'm just an ordinary person; I can't cover everything. And this is not something I can control. Although I believe my parents won't care too much about my Zombie identity, there's still that one in ten thousand chance of being alienated. It leaves me feeling uneasy."
Xing'er nodded and tightened her grip on Chu Donglin's hand. "Actually, you don't need to worry about it, really."

Chu Donglin smiled softly, touched as he held the girl's hand in return.
"I know, thank you, Xing'er. Thank you for your guidance; I..."
"Dad! What are you doing?!"
A sudden scream interrupted Chu Donglin's words.
He turned around in shock, only to see a girl pressed against the tempered glass between the bank lobby and the staff's work desk.
Her face was squished against the glass, contorted in a strange shape, and her blood-red eyes were glaring fiercely at the intertwined hands of Chu Donglin and Liu Xiner, filled with rage.
"Who is this woman? Why are you holding her hand? I just fainted for a moment, and you've already found someone new?"
Chu Donglin was taken aback for a moment, staring at the furious girl in disbelief.
"Shishi? You're awake?"
Boom—
With a loud crash, the tempered glass that even bullets couldn't penetrate was shattered by a punch from the rampaging girl.
This girl, possessing incredible strength, stormed out and rushed to Chu Donglin's side. She glanced at his face, then at Liu Xiner's astonished expression, and finally her gaze landed on their clasped hands, filled with indignation.
"Ahhhhh!!! Dad, you're an idiot! Who is this woman? You better explain yourself!"
With that, the girl reached out to pull apart their joined hands, her expression resembling that of a wife who had just discovered her husband's infidelity.
Chu Donglin chuckled and scooped up Xing'er in one swift motion, jumping aside while shaking his head at the girl several meters away.
"Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Aren't you going to say hello to your mother?"
"Mom?"
"Mom?!"
The simultaneous exclamations came from Xing'er and Shishi.
One was filled with surprised confusion, while the other was a furious shout.
"Dad, what are you doing? What new mom? Who is this woman?"
Shishi asked angrily, nearly in tears. "Did you really find a stepmother for me?"
Chu Donglin shrugged and set Xing'er down from his arms. "Although 'stepmother' doesn't sound very nice... but as you can see, this lady in front of you is my wife, your new mom... Come on, Shishi, be good and call her 'Mom,' and I'll forgive your earlier rudeness."
The girl huffed and turned her head away, her attitude resolute. "I won't call her!"
"Really not going to call her?"
"Really not going to call her!"
"Then I won't pay attention to you."
"Even if that's the case, I still won't call her! I already made up with Dad, and when I grow up, I'm going to marry you... Hmph! Men are no good; they sweet-talk in front of you but turn around to find someone new. It's just too despicable."

Shishi crossed her arms, refusing to compromise.
"Anyway, Dad, I will never forgive you for anything. I won't call this woman 'Mom.' If you really want to find someone, why did you choose her? She's ugly, has a terrible figure, is foolish, and can't even do housework. Not virtuous at all... If you're so lonely, why not find Snow Sister? She's wonderful—pretty, sensible, obedient, and virtuous. She's the perfect choice for a wife. Why not choose her?"
As the girl grumbled indignantly, Chu Donglin shook his head and chuckled.
"If Xing'er is considered ugly, then there are no beauties left in this world. And to disappoint you further, Xing'er is not only not foolish but also very intelligent. She used to be at the top of her class and is quite skilled at housework. She's filial too; there's no one more suitable to be a wife than her... So stop throwing a tantrum and come over to call me 'Mom,' and I'll forgive your nonsense. Otherwise, do you believe I will spank you?"
The girl stuck out her tongue at him and ran behind the girl who was just stepping out of the inner room, as if she had found a refuge. She quickly grabbed Snow's shirt hem and complained.
"Snow Sister, Dad is being mean to me... He wants to hit me! Hmph! It must be that bad woman who told him to do this; you have to protect me."
Snow glanced down at her and then looked at Liu Xiner beside Chu Donglin. Tilting her head thoughtfully, she reached out and pinched Shishi's collar, lifting her up. With a serious expression, she raised a finger.
"Liu Xiner is a very good person; you shouldn't treat her like that."
After saying that, she turned back to Chu Donglin. After thinking for a moment, she forced a stiff smile that looked quite awkward and said, "Long time no see..."
Then she seemed to feel something was missing and added, "I missed you..."
Initially surprised by her remembering Liu Xiner, Chu Donglin felt hopeful that the girl had finally regained her memory.
However, the series of dazed actions that followed from Snow left Chu Donglin speechless.
"What are you doing..."
He covered his head with a look of despair, his expression pitiful. "What’s with that face of yours... Is it a new ghost face you learned?"
Xue paused, a bit confused. "Ghost face? What is that?"
"That expression you're making right now! It's really strange and creepy..."
"Huh? Creepy? But I'm smiling, aren't I?" In the midst of his breakdown, the girl looked at him with confusion. "Did I not learn it well? I've practiced in front of the mirror many times..."
He facepalmed, letting out a long sigh.

He sighed again, giving up on discussing this issue with the stubborn girl any further. He switched topics. "Now that you're all at the Third Stage, do you feel any differences? Like, has your strength increased or anything?" (To be continued...)
