He woke up from the darkness to find himself in an unfamiliar Flower Board.
Pushing aside the Quilt covering him, he sat up in bed and looked around the strange room, a peculiar expression crossing his face.
Where is this place?
It was a room he had never seen before, decorated in a style he did not recognize. In the Silence of the empty space, there were many objects he had never encountered.
Had he been kidnapped? This was definitely not any place he was familiar with.
After taking in his surroundings, the sensations in his body finally registered. An unbearable hunger gnawed at him, his mouth dry as if he hadn't eaten for days.
Moreover, he felt incredibly weak, like someone who had just recovered from a serious illness, his limbs heavy and unresponsive.
Am I sick? Or injured? How did I end up like this?
His mind was filled with confusion.
Why was he here? Had he really been kidnapped? But who in this world would want to kidnap him? What benefit would they gain from it?
The strange environment only deepened his bewilderment.
As he pondered, the hunger in his stomach grew more intense, and he frowned, pressing a hand against his abdomen.
Then he noticed that this hand had changed.
Her skin was delicate and fair, her fingers long and beautiful, like the finest creation of the divine, showing not a hint of flaw—this was clearly the hand of a young girl.
His gaze was slightly dazed. Then his right hand moved up and gently pressed against his chest. The soft and elastic sensation transmitted through his palm into his brain, causing him to freeze entirely.
This feeling...
He suddenly threw off the quilt covering him, struggling to climb out of bed, bare feet stumbling as he rushed to the mirror on the wall of the room.
In the nearly two-meter-tall mirror, a girl of about sixteen or seventeen years appeared.
Her smooth, jet-black hair fell down, slightly disheveled as if she had just woken up. Her fair skin resembled exquisite jade, warm and captivating, while her perfectly curved body was draped in a thin pink nightgown that faintly revealed her slender waist and long legs.
The curves on her chest were not particularly large, but they were just right, exuding the unique youthful aura of a girl at this age.
At that moment, in his line of sight, the girl in the mirror wore an expression of terror; her delicate lips slightly parted, and her dazed gaze appeared incredibly cute.
"I... have become a woman?"
He murmured words he could hardly believe himself, yet reality left no room for doubt. Even his voice had transformed into a clear and melodious tone, like the sound of silver bells, completely different from what it used to be.
"No... impossible! This must be a dream! How could I possibly become a woman... no... this has to be fake."
Unconsciously muttering words whose meaning eluded him, her hands roamed across her body in a frantic search for evidence that she was still a man. But no matter where she touched, every part of her body had undeniably transformed into that of a girl; there was no trace left to prove she had once been male.
She stumbled as she pushed open the large door and ran outside. When the sunlight shone upon her, the two Maids standing at the entrance noticed her and quickly steadied her, anxiously asking.
"Sister, what's wrong?"
Another Maid hurried away, saying, "I'll go inform the lady that Sister is awake!"
Her gaze followed the departing Maid as she scanned her surroundings, and then she beheld a scene she had never seen before.
Lush grasslands stretched out before her, and the sky was a pristine blue, as if washed clean—an enchanting sight rarely seen in this apocalyptic world.
Here stood a Lonely Mountain, independent from the grasslands, with houses built in a style reminiscent of the Middle Ages; it was nearly impossible to find traces of modern technology.
If she hadn't clearly seen a child passing by nearby, holding a Globe, she would have almost believed she had entered another world.
Now, one question remained before her—where exactly was she?

When he woke up, he caught a whiff of delicious food cooking. He heard the sound of a spatula flipping in a pan and some familiar voices chatting nearby.
He opened his eyes to see an unfamiliar Flower Board.
There were no unnecessary decorations, not even a light bulb; the bare Flower Board was made of rough cement, making the room behind the tightly shut door almost completely dark.
He sat up, leaning against the headboard, instinctively looking towards the door.
There, beneath the closed door, a dim yellow light shone through the crack, the only prominent illumination in the dark room.
A gentle and warm breeze flowed in through the wide-open window, lacking the biting cold of winter; it felt more like a tender spring breeze, cool yet comforting.
Chu Donglin couldn't help but lightly clench his right hand, feeling the temperature in the air, remaining silent.
When he fell unconscious, it was still the coldest time of year. Now that he had awakened, it was already early spring... Had he been unconscious for a long time?
This question troubled him.
Accepting the power of the Evil God, inheriting and unlocking the Legacy Sword, and completing the Zombie Completion Plan while slaying two opposing Evil Gods was indeed mentally exhausting. However, if that was enough to keep him unconscious for so long, it was something he found hard to accept.
He threw off the blanket covering him and got out of bed, walking outside in his thin pajamas.
His body felt weak from being unconscious for too long, but it couldn't bring him down. He grasped the doorknob with his hand, gently turned it, and then pushed open the bedroom door.
The dim light in the living room illuminated him as more sounds came rushing in without any barriers.
Shishi, Ling'er, and Keara were sitting in one corner of the living room. The three peers of seemingly similar ages were bowing their heads as they watched a cat named Dodo in the center. They marveled at how it changed its fur color, exclaiming in awe.
Ban Guozhi sat on the sofa, engaged in conversation with Chu Donglin's father, Chu Jianguo. The two elderly men, both of considerable age, seemed to share a common topic and were enjoying their discussion.
Liu Mengying, with a cold expression, also sat on the sofa but kept her distance from them, appearing somewhat isolated as she focused on her official documents.
From the direction of the kitchen came the sounds of a spatula clashing against a pan and the sizzling of vegetables sliding into hot oil.
In the air, alongside the aroma of cooking, there was laughter that Chu Donglin recognized well.
It was the cheerful chatter of his mother, along with Xing'er and Ban Qingya.
Then there was another voice that felt somewhat unfamiliar yet strangely familiar to Chu Donglin.
When she emerged from the kitchen carrying a plate of freshly cooked dishes, he froze at the sight of that familiar face.
"Xue?"
His whisper was soft, but the girl nearby instantly lifted her head and looked over.
Her face lit up with surprise.
"Senior! You're awake!"
That voice seemed to possess a kind of magic, bringing an unexpected silence to the entire room.
Everyone lifted their heads to look at Chu Donglin, who stood at the doorway of the bedroom. Even the three busy in the kitchen, Xing'er and her companions, squeezed out to gaze at him in surprise, momentarily forgetting their words.
Under the gaze of everyone, Chu Donglin smiled and greeted them from the doorway.
"It’s been a while, everyone..."
When he woke up, it was a night in early spring, and more than two months had passed since he had fallen into unconsciousness.
Now, it was the evening of June 16th, a night that marked one of the most festive occasions of the year—New Year's Eve.
The lively atmosphere of the holiday had never brought as much joy to people as it did this year.
With the greatest disaster removed and the Zombies gradually weakening, humanity's strength had grown, allowing them to reclaim their former cities and lands.
Survivors gathered together to celebrate their victory, rejoicing for a bright future.
Outside, in the base, lights shone brightly, and a celebration even more vibrant than any Chu Donglin had witnessed during his time in Qianzhou was underway.
Since Chu Donglin had extracted the Zombie Virus from around the world and evolved it, those once formidable Zombies had begun to weaken. Many lower-tier Mutated Zombies had even devolved to a point where ordinary people could easily slay them.
There was no need for military intervention; large-scale human Survivor Bases had already started to gradually reclaim lost territories in the cities.
As for Jiang Hai, with the strongest military forces of the country gathered there, the eradication of Zombies and the reclamation of cities were already on the agenda.
However, their target was not the abandoned dead city.
This coastal city had once been the largest window to the outside world for this country, a true gem of the East.
Yet, the nuclear bomb that exploded not far from the city obliterated everything.
The contamination from nuclear radiation ravaged the area of the explosion, destroying all life and polluting the land.
Even during the time Chu Donglin was in a coma, the human Survivors of Jiang Hai had already moved away from their original base to build a larger one in a neighboring city.
They planned to start reclaiming from this new city, while Jiang Hai became an abandoned pawn, left to wait for hundreds of years until the nuclear contamination there dissipated before it could be developed again.
As for Chu Donglin's Awakening, everyone present expressed their joy and enthusiasm; even Ban Guozhi mumbled a few congratulatory words to him. Seeing his familiar friends and family gathered together, Chu Donglin smiled with satisfaction.
At least, although he had become something even he could not define, he had preserved the smiles of his loved ones, and that was enough.
As for everything else, he would handle it and resolve it completely.
That was his duty and his destiny; he would never evade it.
