Jiang Chen, despite having killed her father and her cousin, was not met with any resentment from Takeda Kyoko. It was as if these events had been anticipated by her; perhaps it was because Jiang Chen was simply too powerful, and Takeda Kyoko knew that revenge was impossible.
"Just a Vengeful Spirit, nothing worth mentioning," Jiang Chen said dismissively with a smile. "You know he’s not human, yet you still dare to marry him. You have quite the nerve."
Takeda Kyoko had no response; it wasn't her choice to marry him, she was trapped by circumstance. Who would willingly marry a Vengeful Spirit? But for girls from prominent families, personal desires often took a backseat to family obligations, and marriages were frequently sacrifices made for the benefit of the clan.
A chilling voice echoed from afar, growing closer. A man dressed in white hunting attire floated towards them, stepping on a swirling mass of black mist. He finally landed on the grass, merely ten meters away from Jiang Chen.
His face was pale, as if coated in flour, with dark eyebrows that looked like they were painted on with ink. His eyes were narrow and gloomy; although he appeared to be a handsome young man at first glance, there was an unsettling aura about him that evoked a strong sense of unease.
Takeda Kyoko dared not meet his gaze.
"Mr. Jiang, this is Yo Yinan," she explained in Huaxia Language. "He is a Onmyoji, or rather, an Onmyoji who has been dead for many years. I don’t know why he is still alive, but his power is formidable, and he seems to have the ability to foresee the future. Recently, he approached my father and insisted that we build a shrine in the mountains behind our estate to honor him. He also demanded that I marry him and serve him."
"What are you saying?" Yo Yinan asked with resentment in his eyes, unable to understand Huaxia Language.
Takeda Kyoko remained silent; with Jiang Chen present, she didn’t want to engage with Yo Yinan.
Jiang Chen paid no mind to the Vengeful Spirit before him. Raising his hand, a streak of azure energy sliced through the air.
Yo Yinan had not anticipated Jiang Chen's sudden attack; even if he had foreseen it, there would have been no escape for him.
"Slash!"
The energy cleaved Yo Yinan’s body in two, a thick stream of Sha Qi gushing forth from his remains. The Sha Qi coalesced into a grotesque face in midair as Yo Yinan's true form was revealed—a mere skeleton.
Yo Yinan had been an Onmyoji from a century ago who had once entered Huaxia alongside the Island Nation's army. The Island Nation had sent many Onmyoji and martial artists into Huaxia at that time, attempting to use them against Huaxia's Martial Artists.
The Onmyoji and swordsmanship of the Island Nation had originated from Huaxia; while their technology was indeed superior back then, their martial arts heritage could not compare to that of Huaxia.
Thus, Yo Yinan and his companions had gained little advantage during their time in Huaxia. In the end, the Islanders grew furious and unleashed their most fearsome deity—the Eastern Deity—upon Huaxia.
The Eastern Deity was a Demon God suppressed within a Buddhist temple in the Island Nation. It had been incredibly malevolent, causing chaos throughout the Island Nation over a thousand years ago. Many High Monks banded together to use supreme Buddhist power to seal it beneath the temple. Over the millennia, as it absorbed Buddhist teachings, its ferocity diminished but it still posed a significant threat.
Later on, disregarding warnings from the High Monks of the temple, the Islanders struck a deal with the Eastern Deity: if it helped them eradicate Huaxia's Martial Arts practitioners, they would build shrines in its honor.
