Chapter 179: Vitality Lake
The two of them walked for a day and a night through the Snowstorm, never pausing, fully focused on searching for the Source Spring.
“Lin Feng, come quickly! There’s another Source Spring here, about ten feet in diameter!” Lin Miaomiao exclaimed joyfully.
“I found one here too,” Lin Feng said, having also discovered a rather appealing Source Spring.
After absorbing several Source Springs of about ten feet in diameter, Dugu Po’s wounds gradually began to heal. However, to treat the deeper injuries to his body, the ten-foot Source Springs were no longer effective, let alone healing the internal organs and Eight Extraordinary Meridians.
Whether it was coincidence or luck, Lin Feng and Lin Miaomiao seemed to have entered the land of Source Springs. Here, Source Springs of ten feet in diameter were everywhere.
Lin Feng was so happy he could hardly contain himself. “What is this place? It’s like the homeland of Source Springs!”
The two were overjoyed and continued to dig. Whenever they encountered a ten-foot Source Spring, they ignored it in search of larger ones. After about two hours, they discovered a Source Spring that was twenty feet in diameter.
“Finally, we’ve found a large Source Spring!”
Lin Feng immediately had the Divine Eagle carry Dugu Po into the Source Spring. After a while, the Vital Energy within the Source Spring was depleted. All of Dugu Po’s wounds healed completely, starting from the surface and working inward.
“Lin Feng, come here! I found another twenty-foot Source Spring!” Lin Miaomiao called out from another location where she had found a second large Source Spring.
“Great! Divine Eagle, go!”
In three hours, they found seven Source Springs that were twenty feet in diameter. After soaking in all of them, Dugu Po’s skin color returned to normal; he no longer looked as pale as before. However, as he continued to soak, it seemed that the treatment effect on Dugu Po’s injuries was not significant.
“It seems that larger Source Springs do not simply contain more concentrated Vital Energy. The divine effects they hold are quite different. We need to look for even larger Source Springs.”
Lin Miaomiao carefully observed Dugu Po to check on his internal injuries.
Source Springs that were thirty feet in diameter were quite rare. Lin Feng and Lin Miaomiao searched for two more hours but did not find a single one.
“Although there are many Source Springs here, why are they all only twenty feet in diameter?” Lin Feng asked in confusion.
Lin Miaomiao focused her mind and sensed the aura of the Source Spring around her. She faintly felt a flow of energy ahead, reminiscent of the fragrance of flowers, intoxicating her senses.
"Lin Feng, I think there might be an immense Source Spring ahead," Lin Miaomiao said as she opened her eyes.
"Then let's go straight through here and search for a larger Source Spring," Lin Feng replied.
The two of them sped through the Snowstorm, traversing numerous snow-capped mountains. Lin Miaomiao felt that the aura was growing stronger, and the direction became increasingly clear.
"It's just up ahead," she stated, quickening her pace. Lin Feng hurried to catch up, while the eagle carried Dugu Po on its back, following closely behind them.
After two hours, they finally arrived at a snowy valley and beheld the Source Spring.
Lin Miaomiao's mouth fell open in shock as she gazed at the Source Spring before her; it was enormous, having gathered into a lake.
Lin Feng looked down at this colossal Source Spring, which spanned hundreds of feet, and all he could think was: Wow.
Still entranced by the sight, Lin Miaomiao murmured, "Such a massive Source Spring—how many thousands of years must it have taken to accumulate? What kind of place is this?"
"Never mind that; saving our senior brother is more important. Eagle Senior, quickly throw him into Yuan Lake," Lin Feng urged.
With a splash, the eagle tossed Dugu Po into Yuan Lake and then dove in itself, soaking its body and desperately drinking in the Vital Energy.
"Look, he's completely stunned," Lin Feng chuckled.
"This place is hard to come by. Lin Feng, we should join in too," Lin Miaomiao suggested.
"Right. We've been running for so long that my bones are sore. Today, let's soak in this Vital Energy hot spring. Who knows how much our cultivation might increase."
Lin Feng and Miaomiao jumped into Yuan Lake. As Lin Feng swam into the Primordial Water, he discovered that the lake was astonishingly deep—over a hundred feet! It was incredible that such a vast Vitality Lake could exist here.
"Ah! This feels amazing! Wow, it's so refreshing! I feel like I'm melting... Oh..."
Lin Feng soaked in the water, feeling his entire body turn soft and relaxed, a sensation of indescribable comfort that left him moaning in pleasure.
Hearing Lin Feng's cries, Lin Miaomiao blushed and said, "Lin Feng, don't shout like that."
Lin Feng, however, dismissed her concern. "If it feels good, you should express it. It’s more enjoyable that way. Besides, there’s no one around. Miaomiao, why don’t you try it too? I guarantee you’ll feel even better."
"I won’t do that."
With a shy expression, Lin Miaomiao focused on her cultivation. As her internal energy began to circulate, Primordial Water flowed into her body and was absorbed by her. Gradually, a vortex formed around Lin Miaomiao.
While Lin Feng was immersed in his own practice, he felt his Foundation slowly improving. Suddenly, he sensed a powerful suction force pulling at him. He opened his eyes and was shocked by the terrifying scene caused by Lin Miaomiao.
Lin Feng immediately soared into the air, looking down at Lin Miaomiao.
"It seems today is a significant opportunity for Miaomiao; I shouldn't disturb her."
He thought to himself and decided not to dive back into Yuan Lake for cultivation but instead hovered above Lin Miaomiao to protect her. Suddenly, he remembered Spirit Monkey and tossed it into Yuan Lake as well.
Soon, four vortices appeared beneath Lin Feng: one black and the others belonging to Dugu Po and Lin Miaomiao. To Lin Feng's astonishment, the vortex created by Lin Miaomiao grew larger and seemed to be catching up with Dugu Po's momentum.
In less than half an hour, the vortex triggered by Lin Miaomiao became even more terrifying, surpassing Dugu Po's entirely. It was simply unbelievable.
"Miaomiao's cultivation level is so much lower than my senior brother's yet she absorbs Vital Energy faster than him. Even if she is an Ethereal Body, it shouldn't be this astonishing."
Lin Feng couldn't help but recall all of Miaomiao's extraordinary traits along the way. The Ethereal Body could merge with Earth Qi, allowing for an incredibly fast cultivation speed. Moreover, if there was a deficiency in Vital Energy or physical damage, it could be replenished quickly.
But how had Lin Miaomiao once been immune to all poisons? Why was that?
"Could it be that besides being an Ethereal Body, she possesses another divine physique?"
As Lin Feng pondered this, Lin Miaomiao attracted even greater changes. Her speed of absorbing Vital Energy was so rapid that it formed massive waves. The vortex centered around her nearly threatened to engulf the entire Yuan Lake.
Hei was disturbed and flew up into the air. He saw Dugu Po's figure about to be pulled into the vortex. Hei hurriedly grabbed Dugu Po to prevent him from being caught in the terrifying pressure of Vital Energy. Lin Feng also quickly brought him back.
Originally intended for healing Dugu Po, this place had now become a training ground solely for Lin Miaomiao. Lin Feng looked at Dugu Po, whose complexion had improved significantly, but he was uncertain about the recovery of the injuries within.
Dugu Po remained with his eyes closed, still not awake.
After about five hours, the vast Vitality Lake had surprisingly been drained of half of its Primordial Water by Lin Miaomiao. She radiated a pure green light. Even more astonishingly, complex ancient scripts began to emanate from her body. These scripts resonated in the air, producing sounds on their own.
With the appearance of the ancient scripts, Lin Miaomiao's absorption of Vital Energy accelerated dramatically. Her eyes remained tightly shut, as if she were in a deep slumber.
Another five hours passed. Within the lake of Vital Energy, only half of the Primordial Water remained. Then Lin Feng noticed some massive figures emerging.
Hei was the first to spot these colossal beings. It immediately tossed Dugu Po into the Ancient Cauldron and signaled for Lin Feng to enter as well.
Then, Hei expanded its cultivation, growing immensely, resembling a towering mountain.
Roar... Growl...
The enormous creatures at the bottom of the Vital Energy Lake awoke from their slumber. There were five in total, all resembling black Nine-Tiered Fierce Beasts. Each stood tall like a mountain, straightening their bodies.
Nine-Tiered Fierce Beasts were typically the dominant predators of their territories. It was rare to see them gathered in groups.
Lin Miaomiao was trapped in a peculiar state, oblivious to the world outside. She continued to absorb Vital Energy frantically. No matter how much Lin Feng shouted, her eyes remained tightly closed.
Lin Feng did not enter the Ancient Cauldron; instead, he hovered above Lin Miaomiao with the Sky Sword drawn for protection. At the same time, he took out the Spirit Monkey. Although Hei was powerful, it could not match four hands with just two fists. To deal with the fierce beasts, he could only rely on the Spirit Monkey. Yet, it remained fast asleep.
"Hey, why are you still sleeping? Wake up and help! Lives are at stake!" Lin Feng shouted anxiously.
Hei stood within the Vitality Lake, blocking Lin Miaomiao from view. It gazed coldly at the five approaching Nine-Tiered Fierce Beasts.
An overwhelming power radiated from Hei's body. Its form turned golden, resembling a blazing sun that emitted blinding golden light.
Especially striking were Hei's feathers, which stood upright like golden swords. As Hei flapped its wings, waves of golden light swords shot forth towards the five Nine-Tiered Fierce Beasts.
The five fierce beasts had been enjoying their sleep and were irritated by being disturbed. Upon seeing the giant eagle attacking with its Divine Ability, they hurriedly unleashed their own Divine Abilities to defend themselves.
The golden lightsabers emitted by Black Hair fell in circles to the ground. This was its strongest Divine Technique, intended to severely injure them in one strike.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Countless lightsabers landed on the fierce beasts and the surface of the lake, creating a tremendous sound. These beasts suffered heavy injuries, blood flowing as they let out furious roars.
After Black's Divine Technique, the fierce beasts were left in a pitiful state. Two of them even had their arms severed. Black suddenly realized that these five beasts did not seem very formidable, and then rushed into the midst of them, engaging in a fierce battle.
This was a reluctant choice for Black, a simple and straightforward tactic. First, it used its strongest Divine Ability to inflict heavy damage, striking swiftly. Then it pounced in for close combat.
Only in this way could it prevent them from unleashing their Divine Abilities early and harming Lin Miaomiao and the others behind.
These fierce beasts seemed to have been lazy for a long time, having not fought for nearly a century. In their first encounter, they were no match for Black at all. Black swung its sharp eagle claws, tearing through their bodies and inflicting even more severe wounds. (To be continued...)
