15 Unwillingness
Intricate lines were engraved on every Turtle Shell, merging together as several pieces combined. These complex lines connected with one another, forming a web of complexity.
Then the Turtle Shell flew out from Qi Wan'er's hand. The Vital Energy from the earth surged wildly into the shell. The shell radiated a Divine Radiance, exuding auspicious signs. Finally, the Turtle Shell transformed into a streak of light and vanished into the distance.
"Chase."
It was unclear who shouted first, but the Four Grandmasters rushed towards the Turtle Shell.
In Yang Prefecture, Solitary Moon City.
Lin Feng returned to Solitary Moon City, receiving the admiration and respect of all his disciples. Among all the disciples of Solitary Moon City, no one had ever achieved first place in the Jiuzhou Gathering Conference. Lin Feng had brought unparalleled honor to Solitary Moon City.
The elders praised Lin Feng upon seeing him. He greeted each of them before heading straight to the ancestral hall.
Inside the ancestral hall, Xu Mo Wen stood in front of Lin Bai's spirit tablet, lost in thought.
After a moment of silence, Lin Feng spoke up, "Elder Xu, I’m back."
Xu Mo Wen turned to glance at Lin Feng, remaining silent, then continued to gaze at Lin Bai's spirit tablet. Lin Feng wanted to say something more but found himself at a loss for words.
From beginning to end, Xu Mo Wen stood quietly in the ancestral hall, not moving anywhere. To Lin Feng, he seemed like a lonely old man, neglected and forgotten.
During the first invasion of the demon clan, his junior sister had sacrificed herself. In the second invasion, his junior brother had perished. For Xu Mo Wen, two of the most important people in his life were gone; how could he not feel sorrow?
As Lin Feng exited the ancestral hall, he felt a weight on his heart. Suddenly, four streaks of Divine Radiance flew across the sky, all belonging to powerful practitioners of the Master Realm.
"The Four Great Masters? Why have they come to Yang Prefecture?"
Lin Feng felt a strange urge and quickly chased after them.
The Four Great Masters followed the turtle shell to the Fire Departure Sect. The current Fire Departure Sect was no longer what it used to be. With the passing of the Sovereign, several Grand Elders within the sect had perished in battle. The Fire Departure Sect lost its strong guardians, and it became a target of scorn among the people of the Tang Dynasty. Many disciples were unwilling to remain in the Fire Departure Sect and chose to leave.
Lin Feng arrived at the foot of the Fire Departure Sect mountain with the Four Grandmasters. To his surprise, he found that there were people recruiting soldiers at the foot of the mountain.
"The Tang Dynasty is forming a Righteous Army to resist Zhou and aid Feng. We welcome those with ambition to enlist."
A Captain led a group responsible for registration and recruitment. Upon seeing disciples coming out of the Fire Departure Sect, he immediately approached them, saying, "Brothers, would you like to join the army? Resist Zhou and aid Feng."
"But I am a disciple of the Fire Departure Sect," one disciple replied anxiously, regretting his choice of sect. Why did the Fire Departure Sect have to ally with the Demon Barbarians?
"What does it matter if you are from the Fire Departure Sect? It is your leaders who made mistakes; what does that have to do with you disciples?"
"Exactly! The Emperor has specifically instructed us. The Tang Dynasty is in need of talent; we must not indiscriminately kill innocents. Especially for disciples of the Fire Departure Sect, who are merely pawns in others' games. Although they have committed treason, anyone willing to enlist will be treated equally as those from other military sects or Loose Cultivators."
"Is it really true what the Emperor said?" The disciple from the Fire Departure Sect asked joyfully, relieved to find a way forward.
"Of course! We are part of the regular army of the Tang Dynasty," the Captain patted his chest proudly.
"Alright, I will enlist."
"Me too!"
The disciples from the Fire Departure Sect eagerly signed up one after another.
"Will elders be accepted?" A middle-aged man appeared; he was an elder-level figure from the Fire Departure Sect, having reached Master Realm in cultivation.
The Captain was surprised that a Master Realm expert would also enlist and immediately replied, "Of course! If you truly wish to fight for the Tang Dynasty, with your cultivation level, the Emperor will certainly not treat you poorly and will grant you an appropriate position."
"Alright, count me in," the elder said.
"You see, Elder Kong has also joined the army. We should go too."
"Yes. If even Elder Kong is leaving the Fire Departure Sect, it seems the Fire Departure Sect is really falling apart. We need to find a way out quickly."
Elder Kong wrote down his name and then addressed the disciples loudly, "I am joining the army today. This is not a betrayal of the Fire Departure Sect. The accusations of collusion against the Fire Departure Sect were borne on the battlefield. Now, I will serve in the army under the banner of the Fire Departure Sect. I will earn merit to clear our name."
"Good, I am willing to follow the elder into the army and restore the reputation of the Fire Departure Sect."
"Me too."
Soon, more and more disciples from the Fire Departure Sect joined the army. Whether they had initially planned to leave or had decided to stay later, they all followed Elder Kong into military service.
Lin Feng watched quietly and couldn't help but mutter, "Tang Jiner, is this interesting? You openly disagree with my opinion but secretly recruit soldiers behind my back. Your mind is quite sharp; you’ve come up with such a brilliant idea to absorb disciples from the Fire Departure Sect. With this, Solitary Moon City, Flowing Cloud Sect, and Scattered Cultivators Association will have even more disciples joining."
Even disciples from a sect like the Fire Departure Sect, which bore accusations of collusion, were being absorbed by the Emperor without grudges; what were other sects waiting for?
"Oh no, I got so caught up in watching that I forgot something more urgent."
Lin Feng hurried up the mountain to continue pursuing the Four Grandmasters. Now, the Mountain Gate of the Fire Departure Sect was virtually unguarded, allowing any Walker to come and go freely.
Lin Feng spread out his Divine Consciousness and sensed the powerful aura of the Four Great Masters at the back mountain of the Fire Departure Sect. The Four Grandmasters stood not far ahead. Lin Feng did not plan to get too close; he wanted to see what they were up to.
At that moment, a beam of white light descended from above. As it approached the back mountain of the Fire Departure Sect, it rapidly expanded to an enormous size, covering an area of about a mile.
From a distance, this mass of white light resembled a Tortoise Shell. Above it were numerous intricate lines, all manifestations of Qian Dongda Di's formidable power.
The Vital Energy from beneath continuously surged forth, creating a storm of Vital Energy in that area.
The Tortoise Shell, having gathered more and more Earth Qi and the power of Earth Formation, became increasingly heavy, pressing down on the mountain, causing it to sink continuously.
About an hour later, with a Thunderous Roar echoing through the area, the mountain began to sink and collapse. An endless cavern appeared before everyone.
Lin Feng looked out, and it was as if he was gazing into a Sea of Fire. The fallen mountain plunged into the Sea of Fire, and before it could even touch the fiery Magma, it was turned to ash by the intense heat.
The Four Grandmasters stood around the Sea of Fire, observing the inferno below them.
Xiao Mi spoke first, "Is this the Magma birthed from Blazing Fire?"
"If this Sea of Fire is indeed the entrance to the Master's Secret Realm, then it's not going to be easy," Cold Rain pondered.
Blazing Fire was a Spirit Fire born from the might of the earth, its power roughly equivalent to that of a Cave Profound Realm Cultivator. The Foundation of the Four Great Masters had not yet reached the Legendary Realm. To enter the Sea of Fire would be akin to seeking death.
Qi Wan'er contemplated, "I wonder if we can give it a try with the power of a spirit artifact."
"I think it's feasible," nodded a member of the Guan Family.
At that moment, another figure descended from above. This person was tall and imposing, dressed in black with long Black Hair cascading down his back. He landed beside Xiao Mi.
Xiao Mi respectfully greeted him, "Greetings, Senior Brother."
The Black-Robed Figure nodded slightly, his gaze fixed on the Sea of Fire. This person was none other than Magic One from the Demon Sect.
Soon after, another shadow landed. This individual was somewhat tall but quite slender, clad in a black robe and wearing a golden skull mask.
"Ghost Map," Lin Feng observed from a distance, his eyes filled with killing intent.
Upon revealing himself, Ghost Map looked across at Magic One and said, "Magic One, it's been years since we last met. You rarely show yourself in this world."
"There's no need for the Demon Sect to rush into doing good deeds; they rarely show themselves," replied Magic One indifferently.
Ghost Map sneered, "Both the Demon Sect and the Ghost Sect are sects that cannot stand in the light. We were supposed to be allies; why must we fight against each other?"
Magic One responded, "The Demon Sect remains hidden out of seclusion, while the Ghost Sect hides because it cannot be seen. Our paths do not align."
As their conversation unfolded, a cascade of colorful Divine Radiance descended from above, and two women dressed in white arrived riding white cranes. They were the two generations of Holy Maidens from the Yunlu Xian Sect.
Mo Pinglan smiled at Magic One and Ghost Map, saying, "Young Master Magic, Young Master Ghost, how have you been lately?"
"Everything is as usual; how about you, Fairy?" Magic One replied politely.
Ghost Map also warmly remarked, "Fairy, it has been years since we last met; your demeanor is even more extraordinary."
"You flatter me, Young Master Ghost."
Mo Pinglan smiled slightly before continuing, "In those years, only Dugu Po and Eternal Thought Monk are absent."
Ghost Map coldly mocked, "Today's Master's Secret Realm is a significant event in the Cultivation World of the Nine Provinces. Eternal Thought Monk may not come due to his Buddhist practices, but Dugu Po will certainly be here."
Qi Wan'er observed the situation with a serious expression. She hadn't expected that the clues she had obtained would have such a significant impact, stirring up the entire Nine Provinces. It wouldn't be long before many sect Sovereigns would arrive to stake their claim.
Compared to these powerful cultivators of the Legendary Realm, she felt inadequate. How could she compete when the time came?
Suddenly recalling something, Qi Wan'er leaned towards Guan Family and whispered, "Guan Family, you've seen their formidable strength. We are at a disadvantage and may not gain anything. I have no one on my side; what about your people?"
The Guan Family were disciples of Divine Ruins, and Qi Wan'er had no doubts about that. The Guan Family did not hide anything either. She said, "The Senior Brother is usually busy and probably won't come. If anyone arrives, it will naturally be the Second Brother."
"Then has he arrived?" Qi Wan'er asked, as this was the key question.
Guan Family looked at the empty space, thought for a moment, and shook his head. "No."
"What? At this point, how could he still not have arrived?" Qi Wan'er said anxiously. She had spent years gathering these clues, traveling across the Nine Provinces. In the end, she had risked her life to infiltrate Gaojing. Her junior brother had even entered the Black Prison for this.
Without reaching the Legendary Realm, one could not be considered a top-tier expert in the Cultivation World. Qi Wan'er wanted to break through as soon as possible so that she could truly protect Qijian Pavilion. However, after reaching the Master Realm, progress in cultivation was extremely slow.
When the Qi State fell, before the Sovereign of Qijian Pavilion rushed to the battlefield, he revealed the secret of the Master's Secret Realm to Qi Wan'er. She knew that only by finding Shishu's secret realm and obtaining his legacy could her cultivation advance rapidly into the Legendary Realm.
After expending so much effort and time, was the result merely to share with the strong cultivators of the Nine Provinces?
Qi Wan'er felt an unwillingness! (To be continued…)
