Daphne Pinching her palm, she slowly walked to the door and gently pulled open the heavy wooden door.
There was a person standing silently at the door, and she was startled, covering her chest and taking a step back.
"Miss." Lucia stood outside the door, raising her hand to knock, paused for a moment, then respectfully bowed.
"Lucia? What are you doing here?"
Lucia replied, "Louis's butler arranged for me to be your personal maid in the future."
"Personal maid?"
"Yes, in the future, you can tell me anytime if you have any requests."
Daphne wanted to say that she wanted to go to her brother's room, but facing Lucia's calm eyes that seemed to see through everything, she started to blush because she felt embarrassed.
She opened her mouth and finally said in a small voice, "I'm hungry."
There were too many things left undone yesterday, and Miller was very busy today. Sitting at the desk, his hand holding the pen hardly had a chance to stop.
Outside the study, the butler's restrained and polite knock suddenly sounded: "Master, there is a visitor at half past twelve. Should we invite Mr. Beren to join us for the meal?"
Without hesitation, Miller responded: "Do not invite him." What does that dandy think he is.
"Yes."
After signing the name, Miller put down the pen, loosened his wrist, looked up to see the clock's hands pointing to twelve, and rang the bell on the table.
"Landlord?" Louis' voice came from outside the door.
Miller asked him, "Has the young lady come over?"
Thinking that Flora might be waiting eagerly on the sofa outside, Miller couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed that his brother didn't go to accompany her, and a hint of a pleased smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
Louis didn't know his mood, and simply replied respectfully, "Miss hasn't come, Lucia has gone to take care of her."
Miller's smile froze on his face: "Who is Lucia?"
"I have arranged a personal maid for Miss." She will probably become the future head maid.
"......Hmph."
Beren has arrived early, Louis has temporarily placed him in the reception room, hoping that audacious dandy won't cause any trouble.
Daphne used the nutrient solution and could only sit in the room waiting for her brother to call her for meals.
As a maid, Lucia was very qualified. In just a few hours, she made Daphne adapt to her presence, treating her as a mere decoration in the room.
Daphne no longer feels unable to relax because there is another person in the room, but now she has no excuse to disturb her brother across the way. She can treat Lucia as a decoration, but that doesn't mean she can treat the butler Louis as a decoration.
Being alone in the room is really boring. She flipped through the books on the shelf, and then sat at the piano and awkwardly pressed the keys. Maybe she really doesn't have much musical talent. After trying a few times, she couldn't remember which notes should be in which positions, so she could only helplessly close the piano lid.
"Why hasn't my big brother come to see me yet..."
It seemed like the heavens heard her words, as the next second, there was a knock on the door of the room.
"Wait, let me do it!" Daphne sat up from the sofa and called out to stop Lucia, then flew to the door like a fluttering bird. She turned the doorknob, opened the door, and then froze in place.
This time it wasn't her brother at the door, but a blond, blue-eyed man. His eyes were unfocused, giving him a somewhat disoriented appearance. His wildcat-like eyes were fixed straight on Daphne, sending shivers down her spine.
"It's so beautiful..." he said softly, his tone filled with admiration and a hint of fascination.
Daphne looked at him, not knowing what to do. She took a step back and asked tentatively, "Excuse me... are you a guest of my brother's?"
"Brother? Are you calling me brother?" He stared at Daphne infatuatedly and muttered to himself, "...so beautiful, are you sent by the devil?"
Daphne got goosebumps and couldn't help but want to step back, but her hand was caught by the man as he stepped forward.
Bell was breathing rapidly, the air filled with a strong smell of alcohol. He lifted Daphne's left hand and reverently kissed it by her mouth.
A strange sensation came from the back of her hand, cold and soft, making Daphne feel uncomfortable as if she had been pricked by needles.
Her right hand clung to the door frame as she struggled to pull her left hand back, but the man's strength was just too much. She felt like a mouse caught in a cat's claws, unable to struggle effectively.
"Let go!"
Daphne raised her voice, using a faintly crying tone to sternly reprimand him.
In the room, Lucia sensed that something was wrong and wanted to go over to help. However, the strange man began to move his lips upward, planting a series of kisses on Daphne's arm, and even moving upward continuously.
Daphne kept shrinking back, crying and shouting desperately, "Brother! Brother, save me!"
The door of the opposite room was suddenly thrown open. Miller had a cold expression as he walked up and kicked Bell in the back, sending him into Daphne's room.
The excessive impact directly turned Bell into a virtual shadow, smashing into the piano, with her spine deeply twisted at a distorted angle into her body, dark red blood splattering all over the ground.
The loud impact frightened Daphne, causing her shoulders to tremble, and she subconsciously wanted to look back.
However, before she could turn around, a pair of hands covered her eyes and brought her into their embrace.
