The Rift Boar, born with Earth Attribute mana, possessed deep magical power and formidable defenses. Qi Guoren thought to himself that there was no chance he could inflict serious injury on it. Instead, he might provoke the beast's ferocity, making himself its primary target. He had already offended the Azure Wood Fox by using ruthless methods against it earlier. If the Rift Boar turned its attention to him, things would become even more dire.
As Qi Guoren's thoughts raced, he withdrew his magical artifact and produced a stack of Talismans. With a flick of his hand, he scattered them outside the Four Symbols Formation without any specific target. Immediately, thunder rumbled outside the formation as more than ten Attack Talismans exploded simultaneously. In the next moment, the Azure Wood Fox seemed to flash out from thin air, looking disheveled with its once-fluffy green tail now singed and blackened. Qi Guoren then revealed another stack of Talismans in his hand and scattered them outward again towards the formation's exterior. The Hook-shaped Artifact buzzed ominously as if ready to strike.
Although the Azure Wood Fox was not afraid of Talisman attacks, it feared being caught off guard by them and struck by the Hook-shaped Artifact. Thus, upon seeing Qi Guoren, it threw out another Attack Talisman. When it noticed the Hook-shaped Artifact seemingly poised to slice through the air, it twisted its body and fled a hundred feet away.
Sure enough, just as the Azure Wood Fox exited the attack range, a storm of lightning and thunder erupted behind it, with fire arrows and ice spikes shooting forth. Following that, the Hook-shaped Artifact transformed into a yellow light over four feet long and flew toward the Rift Boar. Qi Guoren enveloped himself in Yellow Light and charged after the Rift Boar as if prepared for a mutual destruction.
At that moment, the Azure Wood Fox kept its distance, unable to assist but also doubted that the Hook-shaped Artifact could slay the Rift Boar. As a creature of the demon race, while it was physically stronger than humans of equal rank, it was not so abnormal as to withstand an artifact's strike.
The Rift Boar was different; all its abilities were focused on defense. Regular spells barely tickled its skin. Only top-tier treasures wielded by powerful cultivators could harm it. These Qi Refinement Stage youngsters might have strong artifacts, but their low mana meant they could never injure the Rift Boar. Thus, even though the Azure Wood Fox saw Qi Guoren charging out of the formation, it did not attempt to stop him.
Seeing a human cultivator summon an artifact did not frighten the Rift Boar; however, it instinctively shuddered and raised a yellow shield. This shield was far more solid than Qi Guoren's Blue Shield, almost resembling a physical object.
Qi Guoren remained undeterred; a fierce expression crossed his pale face as he closed in on the Rift Boar. Suddenly, as he approached, the Hook-shaped Artifact slowed down while Qi Guoren continued to move forward without pause onto it. Then two streams of Yellow Light merged into one, increasing their speed further. In an instant, they circled around the Rift Boar and dashed into a passageway before disappearing from sight.
Xunuo was rushing from afar. Although he had not witnessed it firsthand, his Divine Sense revealed everything clearly to him. He suddenly realized: so this is how artifacts can be used.
With his thoughts racing, he released two Heavenly Shadow Spikes and stepped onto them. Instantly feeling his body sink as if they were about to fall under his weight.
Xunuo channeled his mana into the Heavenly Shadow Spikes. They flashed with Azure Radiance and extended over a foot long while emitting a humming sound that halted their descent, propelling Xunuo forward at lightning speed.
In the Four Symbols Formation, several individuals were present, including Liu Qishan. They watched as Qi Guoren seized the opportunity to escape. With the strongest combatant gone, the remaining few felt a wave of despair wash over them.
The Azure Wood Fox, seeing Qi Guoren cunningly slip away, was filled with rage. In a flash, it reached the Passage Entrance. With a furious roar directed at the Rift Boar, it expressed its deep dissatisfaction. The Rift Boar appeared frightened by the Azure Wood Fox and regretted letting a Human Cultivator escape. After being shouted at by the Azure Wood Fox, it abandoned its position and charged towards the Four Symbols Formation with a burst of Yellow Light.
In an instant, the two beasts switched places. The plan was for the Rift Boar to use its demonic power to break through the Four Symbols Formation and eliminate the remaining Human Cultivators.
The ground trembled as the Rift Boar charged towards the formation, its hooves pounding heavily. Lowering its head and baring its tusks, it collided with the Purple Barrier of the formation. A tremendous crash echoed as both Purple Light and Yellow Light erupted. The force of the formation sent the Rift Boar tumbling backward, significantly reducing its Yellow Light. Three deep gashes appeared on its head, and foul-smelling blood streamed down its forehead.
Despite being injured by the formation, the Pig Demon did not retreat; instead, its ferocity intensified. It rolled back onto its feet and charged at the group of practitioners.
With the formation breached, everyone suffered varying degrees of injury. Seeing the crazed charge of the Rift Boar, they quickly dodged out of its path. Only Zi'e reacted too slowly and was struck directly by the beast. A sickening sound echoed as it was gored into a bloody mess.
Seeing one attack succeed, the Rift Boar lowered its head and charged at others. The sight of Zi'e’s gruesome fate left the others horrified but also filled them with a sense of shared dread. The chaotic rampage of the Rift Boar was more threatening than its released magical power in Yellow Light. They suppressed their injuries and desperately tried to evade its onslaught.
The Rift Boar, however, was foolish. After landing one successful hit, it failed to change tactics and continued to chase after everyone in a wild frenzy. The Azure Wood Fox, stationed at the Passage Entrance, watched in frustration at how stupidly the beast behaved, continuously roaring in anger. Yet, despite its fury, the Rift Boar remained clueless, growing increasingly agitated as it chased them around.
At that moment, Xunuo arrived on his Heavenly Shadow Spike, quickly entering the battlefield. The energy required to propel the spike consumed far more magical power than he had anticipated. In an instant, his two spirit stones turned gray and shattered into pieces. Without hesitation, he produced two new spirit stones from his hands, instantly replenishing his magical energy. His body seemed to transform into a conduit as he redirected spiritual energy within himself into magical power for the Heavenly Shadow Spike.
Under this immense and continuous influx of magical power, the blue-black glow of the Heavenly Shadow Spike intensified as it propelled Xunuo toward the Passage Entrance. There was no hesitation or delay.
A massive wave of magical energy surged forth, causing both humans and demons engaged in battle to pause momentarily. Their attention was involuntarily drawn to this ethereal blue-black light. The Azure Wood Fox, guarding the entrance, let out a fierce howl. Accompanying that roar were two bolts of lightning aimed directly at Xunuo.
Xunuo's expression grew serious as she shifted her weight onto her right foot. The Heavenly Shadow Spike beneath her left foot was freed from its burden and slashed toward the Thunder Ball. A loud explosion followed as the two Thunder Balls were shattered by the Heavenly Shadow Spike, which then dimmed, losing all its momentum.
In the midst of the lightning flashes, another Heavenly Shadow Spike suddenly appeared, aiming a strike at the Azure Wood Fox. The Azure Wood Fox flickered with Azure Light, attempting to evade. However, it was unprepared for the lightning-fast thrust of the Heavenly Shadow Spike. Unable to dodge in time, the Azure Wood Fox was pierced through the abdomen by the Heavenly Shadow Spike. Instantly, two gaping holes opened on either side of its belly, spilling its innards onto the ground. With a pained howl, the Azure Wood Fox flickered and fled into the forest, leaving a trail of blood in its wake.
Xunuo's escape light surged forward, catching up to the two remaining Heavenly Shadow Spikes. She landed on one of them and swiftly vanished into the passage.
This sudden turn of events unfolded so quickly that no one had time to react. Just as Xunuo disappeared into the passage, the Rift Boar let out a furious roar, unleashing several spells and yellow lights that followed her into the tunnel.
Liu Qishan, witnessing this, quickly produced a talisman and sprayed a mouthful of essence blood onto himself. His figure blurred and he too vanished into the passage. The remaining few looked at each other and hurriedly employed their own means to escape into the tunnel.
Suddenly, several Thunder Balls appeared behind them. They reached the entrance of the passage first and exploded with a deafening roar. In that moment, those who had just arrived at the Passage Entrance were turned into mere fragments under that tremendous blast. No one else escaped alive from that place.
