Xunuo quickly bid farewell to Xi Dao Jing and returned outside the Cave. He retracted the Three Talents Confining Dragon Formation, Formation Flag, and Formation, then infused an Intermediate Flight Talisman into his body, soaring away from the valley.
Xunuo had come back to inquire about news from Xi Dao Jing, hoping to find an opportunity for escape. However, Xi Dao Jing presented a portrait of the rebel. Upon seeing it, Xunuo was shocked to realize that it depicted the Cultivator trapped within his own formation. He immediately understood that the primary issue at hand was to eliminate this troublesome problem.
A Foundation Stage Cultivator could force the Three Valley Masters of Chaotic Valley to bow their heads, indicating the high level of power this Cultivator possessed and the strength of their Sect.
Naturally, Xunuo would not admit that the rebel had perished within his formation. It wasn't that he coveted the possessions; rather, the temperament of these Foundation Stage Cultivators was unpredictable. If he acknowledged any connection to this matter, they might retaliate and eliminate him, or even wipe out Chaotic Valley entirely. Therefore, Xunuo would never put himself in such danger.
However, there were witnesses present. Xunuo worried that one of these witnesses might be blinded by greed and betray him in hopes of gaining favor. Realizing this could lead to regret too late, he quickly decided to find a way to kill this witness. Especially since he knew this witness was still in Copper Sand Sea and had no way of knowing what happened here, giving Xunuo a chance to silence them.
Once outside Chaotic Valley, Xunuo unleashed his full speed and raced southwest. As he exited Chaotic Valley, he gradually entered a scorching environment where small groups of Crimson Fire Ants appeared continuously. Yet when Xunuo summoned the Condensation Pearl and held it above his head, the heat dissipated instantly, causing the Crimson Fire Ants to scatter. Even when faced with large swarms of ants, Xunuo swept past them like an arrow slicing through water.
A day later, chaotic fluctuations of magical energy reached him from ahead. Xunuo extended his Divine Sense and let out a cold laugh. His body swayed as a dark armor enveloped him.
Ahead, two groups of Cultivators were engaged in a fierce battle—more accurately described as a massacre.
Five Cultivators from the Black Dragon Society surrounded dozens of incoming Cultivators. The five wielded magical artifacts that attacked in succession. In the center, a peculiar formation was being constructed by a group of Cultivators. This formation was formed by human effort with over ten focal points. The most powerful Cultivators stood at these focal points, desperately channeling their energy to activate the formation's maximum defensive capabilities.
Above the formation hovered a brilliant Deep Blue Shield that protected this group of Cultivators within it. However, even so, under the assault of five magical artifacts, this deep blue defensive shield trembled violently and gradually dimmed in brilliance. Inside the formation lay several bodies of fallen Cultivators scattered haphazardly.
The Cultivators within the formation unleashed various Talismans and Spells simultaneously against the five Black Dragon Society Cultivators outside. Yet these attacks were either directly shattered by magical artifacts or deflected by the Black Dragon Society's Talismans or energy shields without inflicting any harm.
As Xunuo approached swiftly, both sides immediately took notice of him. However, since he came from the direction of Chaotic Valley, the incoming Cultivators assumed he was reinforcements for their side. Even some members of the Black Dragon Society speculated similarly because only their own Cultivators dared venture so far from Chaotic Valley. But as he drew closer, they realized that this Cultivator's cultivation level was lacking despite his impressive Armor Artifact, which made them wary.
The two groups of Cultivators were locked in a critical struggle when one of the five Black Dragon Society members noticed Xunuo in black armor but deemed his cultivation insufficient to warrant concern. They continued their assault while asking aloud, "Who goes there?"
Seeing an opportunity arise, Xunuo wasted no time on idle chatter. As he neared the fray, he raised his hand and threw out the Three Talismans Confining Dragon Array. It was only then that the five Black Dragon Society Cultivators realized this black-armored figure was an enemy rather than an ally. All five magical artifacts turned toward Xunuo and struck at him simultaneously.
Xunuo was currently focusing all his energy on activating the formation. He was in no position to evade, let alone summon the Heavenly Shadow Spike for defense. However, Xunuo had considerable confidence in his Armor Artifact. As he activated the formation, he poured his mana into the Armor Artifact.
The armor suddenly emitted a faint black glow, making the Armor Artifact appear even more imposing and terrifying. In the next moment, five magical artifacts struck Xunuo's armor almost simultaneously. He was knocked backward but only felt a surge of blood and energy without sustaining any real injury. At the same time, the Three Talents Confining Dragon Formation was also activated, trapping the two groups of Cultivators below within its confines.
The five Cultivators from the Black Dragon Society sensed the severity of the situation. They urged their artifacts to strike at the formation. However, with a name as formidable as the Three Talents Confining Dragon Formation, it was not something these five could easily break through. The five artifacts were immediately repelled.
Two of the Cultivators simultaneously exclaimed, "Three Talents Confining Dragon Formation! Alchemist Xunuo!"
Xunuo had acquired the Three Talents Confining Dragon Formation through a Death Contract Transaction, and it was well-known throughout Chaotic Valley. Since they were trapped by the Three Talents Confining Dragon Formation, it was undoubtedly Xunuo in that black armor.
Now that Xunuo had confined these individuals, he no longer worried about them and paid no mind to their astonishment. He turned to the group of foreign Cultivators and said, "If you don't escape now, when will you?"
This formation had a displacement function, allowing him to move people or objects at will within its range, which also meant he could move them out. However, due to the large number of Cultivators present, Xunuo could not transport them all at once. Not wanting to harm any innocents, he decided to confine this group of Cultivators individually while leaving an opening for them to escape.
Seeing that the power of the formation had loosened, this group of Cultivators hurriedly fled and came over to thank Xunuo.
Xunuo knew well that one must always guard against others. He worried that this group of Cultivators might turn against him and do something dishonorable. Thus, he coldly said, "This place is dangerous; you should leave quickly."
At the same time, he released a Golden Flying Sword and pointed it at them. The group of Cultivators saw Xunuo's demeanor—keeping them at arm's length—and recognized his cautious decisiveness. They understood that further attempts to ingratiate themselves would be unwise.
Meanwhile, within the formation, the five Cultivators from the Black Dragon Society realized that Xunuo had allowed this group of foreign Cultivators to leave while keeping only themselves confined. They knew this situation would not end well for them and attempted to combine their five artifacts to strike at a point in the formation in hopes of breaking free.
This tactic proved effective almost immediately. The previously invisible barriers of the formation began to show signs of chaotic mana fluctuations in one area, appearing precarious.
All five were Foundation Stage ten Cultivators and represented the backbone of the Black Dragon Society. To join this society, a Cultivator needed at least an eighth layer cultivation level. Those with lower cultivation levels could only be accepted if they possessed particularly strong mana or unique abilities or were recommended by higher-ups in the Black Dragon Society.
However, when forming teams for raids, one needed at least a ninth layer cultivation level and must possess magical artifacts as well. When distributing loot afterward, it was entirely based on cultivation levels. Thus, tenth-layer Cultivators generally preferred not to team up with those at eleven layers because although their contributions might be equal, their share of loot would be significantly less.
The combat power of a team consisting of five tenth-layer Cultivators was indeed formidable; what they lacked was a devastating strike capable of turning the tide.
Just like the battle with the Group of Practitioners earlier. If there had been an Eleventh Layer Cultivator present, with their immense magical power, they could have sliced open a gap in that formation. The other Cultivators would then have charged in like wolves among sheep, swiftly slaughtering the entire group. The current situation was no different. Although these five were powerful in their own right, they were unable to break through this Defense Formation in a short time.
Xunuo let out a cold smile and waved the Formation Flag in his hand. Instantly, the five individuals found themselves surrounded by chaotic scenes of rubble, desert, and jungle, each isolated from one another.
At the same time, within the formation, a dark and ominous atmosphere enveloped the area. The transparent and formless formation suddenly became tangible. Not only was their Divine Sense and vision restricted, but their magical power was also suppressed to its lowest point. In the next moment, a thunderous roar echoed as a thunderball the size of a bowl came crashing down. The five Cultivators inside the formation had no time to think about attacking; they hurriedly unleashed their magical artifacts towards the Thunder Ball while frantically slapping various defensive Talismans onto themselves.
Xunuo then flicked his wrist, sending the Five Shadow Needles into the formation. While the others managed to hold their ground, the Cultivator who knew his secret had to be eliminated quickly.
At that moment, this particular Cultivator was in dire straits. Not only was the Thunder Ball descending upon him, but thin wind blades surrounded him like gossamer, and rolling stones as large as basins kept crashing toward him. However, this Cultivator was resourceful; he summoned a Hammer Fist-like magical artifact to deflect the Thunder Ball and wind blades one by one. But when it came to the Rolling Stones, he struggled to fend them off completely.
Seeing this, he took out three Formation Flags and tossed them outward. Instantly, a small formation enveloped him for protection. The Rolling Stones struck against it, causing yellow light to flicker. This Cultivator held a spirit stone in each hand, his face pale and drenched in sweat as he replenished his magical power. The immense consumption of magical energy was clearly taking its toll on him.
Xunuo sent the Five Shadow Needles into the formation with intentions of a sneak attack. However, with defenses set up by both formations and artifacts, he couldn't land a decisive blow, diminishing the value of his ambush. Thus, Xunuo decided to stop hiding his strength and channeled his magic to unleash the Heavenly Shadow Spike to its fullest extent.
The Five Shadow Needles instantly expanded to over three feet long and began spinning rapidly. One Heavenly Shadow Spike struck against the Cultivator's Hammer Fist artifact while the other four formed a line aimed directly at his Defensive Array.
Although Xunuo's Heavenly Shadow Spike could not knock away the Hammer Fist artifact, it managed to entangle it just enough to prevent it from returning for self-defense. In an instant, the remaining four Heavenly Shadow Spikes struck against this Cultivator's formation one after another with a deafening crash. Yellow light and dark shadows intertwined, creating even more chaos in that space.
Ignoring that nearly half of his magical power had been consumed, Xunuo pointed at his Golden Flying Sword before lightly calling out: "Slash."
