The process lasted for three days until the strange phenomenon in the Sea of Consciousness disappeared.
Xunuo pondered, feeling uncertain. Since he began cultivating the Elixir Formula, he had broken through several bottlenecks to reach the next stage. The main manifestations within the Sea of Consciousness were that point of light gradually becoming brighter, the space of the Sea of Consciousness expanding, and the water of the Sea of Consciousness becoming increasingly rich; none of these had triggered this recent phenomenon.
Xunuo instinctively released his Divine Sense, but his expression changed dramatically as he quickly withdrew it. This time, when he projected his Divine Sense outward, it produced a sensation that made his heart race—something he had only experienced when facing a Foundation Stage Cultivator.
Despite his disbelief and shock, Xunuo knew that his current Mind Power was likely not much different from that of an ordinary Foundation Stage Cultivator.
With a sudden thought, Xunuo leaped into the Sea of Consciousness. His eyes widened in astonishment as he took in the scene before him. The space of the Sea of Consciousness had expanded more than tenfold, resembling a small realm. The dark clouds that had always loomed above were completely gone, replaced by that point of light.
That point of light was now as large as a silver plate, suspended in the endless sky and radiating dazzling white brilliance. The Killing Blade still quietly hovered beside it.
Below, the pool's water now resembled a vast lake, its color a rich green with an almost aged quality.
The surrounding darkness was pushed back to a great distance, appearing utterly fragile and on the verge of collapse, as if it could be shattered at any moment.
Xunuo felt a surge of joy at this sight but suddenly remembered something and furrowed his brow. He shifted and appeared next to the silver plate of light. He stared intently at the Killing Blade for a moment before speaking, “Old Wen, where is my Soul Nurturing Pearl?”
It turned out that Xunuo noticed that upon entering this time, he did not see the Soul Nurturing Pearl rolling on the Killing Blade.
The Killing Blade continued to slowly orbit around the silver plate of light without responding to Xunuo's words. Seeing this made Xunuo feel anxious.
The Soul Nurturing Pearl was precious for one reason, but more importantly, it was the source of Xunuo's Divine Sense within his Sea of Consciousness. He never intended to bring in anything he couldn't control, even if it was the Soul Nurturing Pearl. Now that this pearl had vanished without a trace, Xunuo felt a surge of anger just thinking about it.
This Killing Blade treated his Sea of Consciousness like a garbage dump—discarding things carelessly after using them without any regard for where they ended up. Just as Xunuo was about to vent his frustrations at the Killing Blade, he suddenly heard a clearing of the throat behind him.
Xunuo was startled and broke out in a cold sweat. He quickly turned around to find an elderly man standing behind him, tall and with hair and beard completely white.
The man wore a strangely designed black robe that swept the ground, covering his feet. One hand hung down, concealed by the robe's sleeve, while the other gently stroked his long beard. The exposed hand was pale and slender, with a bony strength that contrasted sharply with his aged face and silver hair.
The old man's face was etched with deep wrinkles, and two white eyebrows drooped down to his ears. His silver hair was coiled up, secured at the top of his head with a pin, from which dangled a Soul Pearl. Xunuo focused intently and recognized it as the Soul Nurturing Pearl.
Xunuo stared at the old man for a moment before glancing back at Killing Blade. Suddenly, he felt overwhelmed, unable to discern the connection between the two. The fact that Killing Blade could hand over the Soul Nurturing Pearl to this old man indicated a significant relationship.
However, Xunuo firmly believed that the Soul Nurturing Pearl belonged to him. Moreover, how could someone just enter his Sea of Consciousness without regard for him as the master? This was something Xunuo found intolerable.
Xunuo's expression darkened further. He pointed at the Soul Nurturing Pearl atop the White-Haired Elder's head and declared, "That is mine."
The White-Haired Elder frowned, a flicker of displeasure crossing his eyes. Seeing this, Xunuo felt even more disdainful as the elder did not even consider returning the Soul Nurturing Pearl.
Anger surged within Xunuo as he turned to Killing Blade and exclaimed, "It's one thing for you to stay here without leaving; it's another for you to treat this place like an inn and invite others over. Handing my Soul Nurturing Pearl to someone else is utterly disrespectful to me as your Master."
Xunuo's words finally provoked a reaction from Killing Blade. The blade encircling the white light suddenly halted, its edge pointing outward.
Xunuo inwardly lamented: this Killing God had a volatile temper; one wrong word could set him off. He quickly lowered his tone and said, "Old Wen, please don't be angry. If you have friends visiting, you should at least inform me. But your friend is quite..."
Just as Xunuo was racking his brain to appease Killing Blade, the old man behind him spoke up, "I am Old Wen."
Xunuo stiffened in disbelief and turned around to look at the White-Haired Elder. A wave of dizziness washed over him. He shook his head vigorously, wishing he could simply faint away; perhaps when he opened his eyes again, all of this would be an illusion.
The White-Haired Elder continued, "I am the spirit of Slayer of Demons."
Xunuo felt utterly innocent. Just moments ago, he had successfully completed the first layer of Dan Jue cultivation and was still riding high on that joy when he stumbled into such a situation. Moreover, what the White-Haired Elder said left Xunuo completely baffled.
After pondering for a moment, Xunuo pointed at Killing Blade and asked, "Then what is it..."
"The one before you is my true form, known as the Slayer of Demons, Crescent Moon Slash. However, only this half of the blade remains; the whole has fallen into several Realms. Fortunately, I have not dissipated completely, so there is still a chance to restore my original Realm."
Xunuo hurriedly asked, "So are you one entity or two?"
"Naturally, I am one," the White-Haired Elder replied. "This form is merely a manifestation of my weapon spirit. Moreover, with the current decline of the Realm, this form can only manifest within your Sea of Consciousness. Once I leave this place, I cannot maintain such a vivid appearance."
Upon hearing this, Xunuo felt that Old Wen's words, though profound and inscrutable, were quite honest, revealing some secrets without reservation. He pondered how to extract more valuable information from him. Ideally, he wanted to learn how to enter and exit the Sea of Consciousness to gain the upper hand and bring him out at the right moment.
Thus, Xunuo smiled humbly and asked, "Why does Old Wen reside in my Sea of Consciousness? Is there some connection between us?"
Old Wen shook his head. "It's nothing special. My true form requires unique materials for refinement and can only be nurtured by Divine Sense. Choosing you was out of necessity; however, your recent increase in Divine Sense can help slow down my true form's decline. To stop the decline or even restore it to its original state is beyond your capabilities."
Xunuo's eyes lit up as he said, "According to Old Wen, if I place artifacts like the Heavenly Shadow Spike into my body, I could nurture them and enhance their power?"
Old Wen nodded. "Indeed."
Xunuo felt a surge of joy. The Heavenly Shadow Spike was an artifact closely tied to him through Blood Sacrifice and was currently his most formidable weapon. If he could use this method to amplify its power, it would greatly benefit his plans.
Immediately outside, Xunuo clapped his storage bag, and Six Heavenly Shadow Darts began to swirl around him. However, he soon heard Old Wen's chilling reminder: "But you must make a hole in your forehead to bring those things inside."
