Whether it was encountering the sinister and calculating Ling Jing in the palace or the Six Princess who deliberately staged a scene by blocking the carriage in the street, Yun Qingyu cast all these troubles aside, as if shaking off dust, without a trace of reluctance.
She returned to Princess Manor with Xin Yao. As soon as she stepped through the gate, her footsteps paused slightly, as if caught by some invisible force.
Her gaze was sharp, landing on the four striking figures before her. A hint of scrutiny flashed in her eyes, and her gaze seemed almost tangible as it circled around them repeatedly. The surrounding air felt as though it had solidified for a moment.
The four of them resembled four blooming flowers, their appearances as stunning as the most vibrant blossoms of spring, each possessing their own charm.
They knelt upright, and their stamina appeared impressive; despite having been in this position for quite some time, none showed signs of fatigue. Each maintained a composed demeanor, looking remarkably at ease, as if this prolonged kneeling was merely part of their daily routine.
A gentle breeze swept through, causing their hair to flutter lightly and their garments to dance gracefully, adding an air of elegance to their presence.
Yun Qingyu walked in with a calm expression, each step steady and resolute, exuding an undeniable aura of authority.
As she walked, she coldly asked, "Have you figured out how to explain this to This Palace?" Her voice was not loud but struck like a cold sword directly aimed at the four.
Upon hearing her voice, Qiqi turned to look. Their movements were synchronized; a flicker of panic crossed their eyes like startled fawns, revealing a hint of unease.
Then they respectfully bowed their heads in greeting, leaning forward as they spoke in unison, "We pay our respects to Your Highness."
Their voices echoed within the manor, tinged with reverence.
Yun Qingyu's expression remained indifferent as she said, "This is your last chance. If there is still no explanation by tomorrow morning, then you may quietly wait until then to rise."
She frowned slightly, her gaze growing colder, like ice that had not melted for a thousand years.
Hong Yu was the first to break the silence. He blinked his beautiful big eyes, tears shimmering within them as if veiled by a layer of mist, and with a face full of grievance, he asked, "Your Highness, does this mean that if we don't come up with a reasonable explanation, we have to continue kneeling until tomorrow morning?"
As he spoke, he shifted his knees slightly, seemingly trying to emphasize his discomfort, his lips pouting just a bit in a way that hinted at a childlike appeal.
Qilin glanced at him, a mocking smile curling at the corners of his mouth. He let out a laugh, “Do you really need to ask? That’s definitely what it means. You’re really quite foolish.”
His tone carried a hint of teasing as he raised an eyebrow, his eyes filled with mischief.
Hong Yu muttered in dissatisfaction, “If you’re not foolish, then why haven’t you thought of a reasonable explanation by now?”
He pouted defiantly, his eyes wide open like an angry little cat.
Qilin fell silent for a moment before defiantly saying, “Who says I don’t have a reasonable explanation? I… I just wanted to experience what it feels like to be kneeling.”
His gaze flickered away, avoiding Yun Qingyu's eyes, clearly lying as a slight flush crept onto his face.
Hong Yu looked pitifully at Yun Qingyu, tears glistening in his eyes as they threatened to spill over. With a quivering voice, he said, “Your Highness, my knees hurt from kneeling.”
He tried to use this tactic to win Yun Qingyu's sympathy, his voice trembling slightly.
However, it had no effect on Yun Qingyu. She remained as indifferent as ever, showing no sign of the compassion he hoped for; her gaze remained as cold as frost.
Hong Yu pouted and pointed the finger at Shen Zhongjing. "It's all Shen Zhongjing's fault."
He extended his finger, directing it toward Shen Zhongjing, his eyes filled with a hint of blame.
Shen Zhongjing lay there looking innocent, a bitter smile creeping onto his face as he slightly raised the corners of his mouth in a helpless grin. "Why blame me? It's not like I made you wear these expensive fabrics." He shook his head in exasperation, feeling both amused and bewildered by Hong Yu's accusations, his eyes reflecting pure innocence.
