"Show us the flowers." Zuo Dao's words completely baffled Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi. "What flowers?"
"Of course, the flowers of Spirit Sword Mountain."
If the two of them hadn’t figured it out by now, then the elder's position would have been for nothing.
"You want to invite us to Spirit Sword Mountain?" Zhan Mubai increasingly wanted to break the ban and spread the news; the visitors were not friendly, especially since there were two of them.
While Zuo Dao was speaking with a few others, the Elder Council also began to react. The Inspection Elder Six, Ironblood Huai, was the first to notice something was off. Just as Zhan Mubai sealed off the main hall, Ironblood Huai had already sensed something unusual here.
He understood the thoughts of the two but noticed that after the hall was sealed, the aura of the Great Formation seemed to change in an instant. After working together for so long, he was quite familiar with Zhan Mubai's aura, and it was this sudden change that alerted him.
Except for the elders who were out, those who should be present hurried over upon hearing the news.
"What happened to Elder Tie? Why did you gather everyone?" Seven Principles felt quite irritated at this moment. Didn’t they know they were in a critical situation? Gathering everyone like this only made it obvious they were afraid their opponents didn’t know.
"Elder Xiang, I suspect that the person we are waiting for has already appeared," Ironblood Huai said uncertainly. If he hadn’t tried to break through the seal himself, he wouldn’t have wanted to disturb these elders.
The other elders were taken aback by his words.
"Impossible!" Zhang Qianqiu, a tall elder whose appearance resembled more of a farmer than a cultivator, exclaimed. "I haven’t sensed any fluctuations in space; how could she possibly appear?"
Everyone knew who he was referring to. Among the twelve elders, aside from the Chief Elder, he had the highest mastery of spatial techniques. If he hadn’t sensed anything, then it absolutely meant nothing was there.
"I initially thought like you too, but can you break through the seal of this hall now?" Ironblood Huai was somewhat annoyed but didn’t show it too much.
The six elders present all turned their gazes toward the direction of the main hall.
"This is Elder Zhan's sealing formation, isn't it? What's wrong?" Tenth Elder Huyan Yu spoke up.
"Something is very wrong; this Great Formation has been tampered with," replied Feng Xiangfeng, the seventh-ranked elder and the only Array Master among the twelve elders.
"Is there a way to break it?" Four Elders Zhang Qianqiu began to worry about the two elders inside. If Huang Xishi was indeed in there, then those two elders would be in grave danger.
"Let's try our best," Huyan Yu said with a serious expression. As an expert in formations, he could tell at a glance that this formation had been altered. On the surface, it still appeared to be a sealing formation, but it was merely a facade. He truly wondered if he could break it. If he succeeded, he would undoubtedly make significant progress in his understanding of formations.
With the unexpected turn of events, the initial plan was completely scrapped. Some elders had already begun to gather personnel, and in no time, they had surrounded the main hall tightly.
Everyone present was an elite expert. The Grand Elder had left due to some issues in the Outer Battlefield, taking along Third Elder and Ninth Elder to rendezvous with those stationed at the battlefield. The remaining elders—Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Tenth—stood with imposing presence, their spirits merging with the void, each appearing as if they were in another realm altogether, making it difficult for anyone to gauge their positions.
Inside the hall, Zuo Dao watched the actions of those outside with an air of leisure, a strange smile on his face.
"A strong killing intent," Huang Xishi sensed an unusual aura and turned to look at the White-Clad Monk.
At that moment, Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi seemed to feel something as well.
"You should just let go of the Great Formation and allow us to leave. As for what happened at Spirit Sword Mountain, we can pretend it never occurred. Moreover, I can propose in the Elder Council that you all from Spirit Sword Mountain enter the core of the Co-Governance Council," Yan Qimi stated smoothly. Even Huang Xishi had to admit that anyone who could enter the Elder Council was not someone to be underestimated.
"Oh, the core of the Co-Governance Council?" Zuo Dao remarked casually.
"Yes, once you from Spirit Sword Mountain enter this circle, it will only bring great benefits. You have no idea how powerful the Co-Governance Council truly is," Mubai added in persuasion.
They could all see that this seemingly young Cultivator was more capable of dealing with them than Huang Xishi. The latter hesitated to act against them for certain reasons, but they couldn't guarantee that Zuo Dao would hold back.
"Powerful?" Zuo Dao mocked as he glanced at the two of them. "If you're talking about those old ghosts outside, then I'm truly disappointed. They wouldn't happen to be the remaining members of the Elder Council, would they? But the numbers don't add up."
"That's because five elders are fighting in the Outer Battlefield, defending the Earth Altar Star Domain." Hearing Zuo Dao's words, Zhan Mubai felt somewhat reassured. If the other elders had arrived, the opponent shouldn't act recklessly, right?
They had considered taking action against Zuo Dao, but the consequences were too unpredictable, with too many variables. Moreover, both of them felt a sense of threat and oppression emanating from Zuo Dao.
"Outer Battlefield?" Zuo Dao had heard this term more than once and turned to Huang Xishi to ask, "What is the Outer Battlefield?"
This question left everyone in the hall stunned. Huang Xishi looked at Feng Miaomiao with a questioning gaze, but the latter shook her head in confusion, indicating she didn't understand why Zuo Dao was asking.
Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi were completely bewildered. They had always thought Zuo Dao came from outside their realm; he should know about the Outer Battlefield. Yet, his expression suggested he genuinely didn't know.
However, Huang Xishi quickly reacted and began to explain to Zuo Dao.
It turned out that this world was referred to as the Great Star Domain, composed of countless different Star Domains. Each Star Domain was made up of numerous large planets connected together. Just like the vast distances between planets, there were also significant gaps between Star Domains.
These vast empty distances were known as the Outer Realm. The Outer Realm was different from outer space; the dangers present there were millions of times greater than those found in outer space. Not only were there nameless domain beasts lurking about, but it was also filled with various Alien Races, predominantly demons and monsters.
Upon hearing this, Zuo Dao raised an eyebrow; he finally received some information regarding demons and monsters.
Every Star Domain had a protective barrier known as a "boundary," but this boundary wasn't infallible. It could fend off ordinary domain beasts or common dangers reasonably well, but when faced with demons and monsters, it struggled to hold its ground. This situation necessitated someone to share the burden.
The emergence of such circumstances gave rise to the Outer Battlefield, where countless Cultivators risked their lives on the front lines to defend their homeland. Although there was a risk to life, the benefits were immense; as long as one could survive and return from the battlefield, each person would be hailed as a hero of their Star Domain and would receive abundant cultivation resources.
Moreover, the benefits on the battlefield are even greater; every demon and monster is an excellent material for pills and weapons. This is also one of the original intentions behind the establishment of the Outer Battlefield.
Upon hearing this, Zuo Dao finally understood that the existence of the Outer Battlefield was entirely due to the struggle for resources. Although this statement was harsh, it clearly conveyed the truth that there is no conflict without benefit.
However, because of this realization, Zuo Dao's killing intent diminished significantly. After all, these people were defending this land with their lives.
"Let's leave this matter aside; I hope you can follow through," Zuo Dao said, looking at Zhan Mubai and Yan Qimi. "But Spirit Sword Mountain will not join the Co-Governance Council, as there is no need for it."
With that, he turned his gaze to Huang Xishi.
"Take me to the Outer Battlefield."
He raised his hand to lift the seal on the hall.
"I hope you two remember your words." With that said, he was about to let Huang Xishi lead him away.
"This is not a place where you can come and go as you please." A voice filled with murderous intent suddenly echoed from outside the hall.
Hearing this, Zuo Dao slightly closed his eyes. When he opened them again, his crimson gaze flashed before Huang Xishi.
