Yan Sui Fa felt a heavy weight on his heart. Although Xing was dead, the trouble left behind was even greater. He didn’t know how many people were following him, but he didn’t want anyone to catch up. In this conflicting state of mind, he continued on his way.
While Yan Sui Fa's appearance had temporarily resolved the troubles of Zuo Dao and his companions, an even bigger problem emerged before them.
“Yoko, when did the assassins from Dark Realm become so bold as to show themselves openly?” Zuo Dao said with a hint of a headache as he looked at the figures appearing ahead.
If it weren’t for the time constraint, he would have really liked to have some fun with the people from Dark Realm.
“Yoko, I’m leaving the people ahead to you. Do you have confidence?” The next words sent a chill down Chen Yang’s spine.
“Boss, you think too highly of me. I’m just a Yellow-Level Assassin, and those guys over there are at least Green Level!” Chen Yang said with a mournful expression.
Zhao Yanwu laughed carelessly from the side. “Chen Yang, your boss thinks so highly of you; aren’t you going to show off a bit?”
“Show off? That’s just asking for death.” After spending some time together, Chen Yang had come to understand Zuo Dao's character a little. It was a joke; if he were meant to die, he could have been abandoned long ago.
“At least you have some self-awareness!” Zuo Dao chuckled, not taking it seriously. If Chen Yang foolishly charged in at that moment, he wouldn’t stop him, but it would mean that Chen Yang had lost his chance for growth.
“Zhao Yanwu, reinforce the Airship’s defenses. I’ll go take care of these flies. Damn it, is it really necessary to make such a fuss over one cleansing?” Zuo Dao was getting a bit irritated.
Zhao Yanwu looked at Zuo Dao in surprise. “But you have…”
“Scared? Given this situation, do you think this will be the last batch? I’ve come to understand; this is just a trap.” Zuo Dao said bitterly as he rose and flew out of the ship.
“Seriously, are you guys done yet? Killing someone has turned into this? How embarrassing!” As soon as he stepped outside, Zuo Dao pointed at the opposing group and cursed loudly.
Dressed in black robes and belonging to Dark Realm, this group was clearly different from the assassins they had encountered before. They didn’t launch an attack all at once.
"May I ask who this friend is?" A man in a golden-bordered black robe stepped forward, addressing Zuo Dao.
"Why do you care who I am? Why are you chasing me so closely? Are you eager to die and be reborn?" Zuo Dao showed no respect for the other party. "Do you believe I could skin you alive right now? Why not focus on learning something useful instead of trying to act mysterious? As if anyone would mistake you for good people!"
Zuo Dao was undoubtedly a master of words, and with just a few sentences, he had left the man speechless. Inside the boat, Zhao Yanwu listened with great amusement, completely oblivious to the fact that they were being hunted.
"You..." Green Wilderness had not been spoken to like this since he became a captain of the Dark Realm Execution Squad. One reason was his ruthlessness, and the other was that he truly had the strength to back it up.
"What about me? Just because I said a couple of things, you feel wronged? If you're feeling wronged, what about me? Have you even thought about how much trouble you've caused me? Was it just to chase after a girl? Did I pursue your mother or your sister?" Zuo Dao slowly began to channel the little celestial energy he had left while diverting the other man's attention.
"Enough." Green Wilderness could no longer hold back. He had received orders to avoid conflict with Zuo Dao whenever possible and was prepared to pay a price to keep him out of trouble. However, before he could even speak, he had already been humiliated by Zuo Dao.
"That's more like it. If you want to fight, then let's fight. Why all this nonsense?" Zuo Dao shot him a disdainful glance.
At this point, Green Wilderness was furious. It wasn't that he lacked composure or generosity; it was just that Zuo Dao was far too arrogant. From the beginning until now, he had only managed to say a few words while Zuo Dao did all the talking, and in the end, it felt like he was the one rambling.
"Kill him." Green Wilderness truly did not want to continue entangled with Zuo Dao any longer. With a command, his team sprang into action.
The members transformed into wisps of smoke as they rushed toward Zuo Dao.
"Oh, Cebu Foot Smoke; looks like everyone has trained well," Zuo Dao remarked without a hint of surprise as the assassins approached, even teasing them.
Hearing this, Green Wilderness's heart skipped a beat. Cebu Foot Smoke was indeed the unique movement technique of this squad. The fact that Green Wilderness could hold his ground in the Dark Realm was largely due to this technique.
He hadn't expected that in just one encounter, Zuo Dao would recognize it. Even some of the older members in the Dark Realm didn't know what this technique was called. It was something he had stumbled upon by chance; although he didn't know its exact level, one thing was certain: it was an ancient cultivation method that had been lost for ages.
"Not bad, it has some style," Zuo Dao commented as he moved through the shadows of the crowd.
His words left the assassins feeling frustrated. In previous missions, whenever such a movement technique was employed, it would leave opponents helpless. Yet now, it was merely deemed "not bad."
Although Zuo Dao had called out this technique, he did not actually know it. Initially intending to resolve the situation quickly, his curiosity piqued, and after some movement, he grasped the basics. It wasn't that he wanted to learn it for himself; rather, this technique was quite good and could be taught to the disciples of Heterodox.
Green Wilderness stood with his hands behind his back, observing the battle. According to the intelligence he had received, aside from the target and a Yellow-Level Assassin, this White-Clad Monk was the most mysterious figure. There were no records of any encounters with him, and he was suspected to be an Array Master of very high rank.
The reason he hadn't launched an attack first was due to his wariness of the opponent's Formation skills. He hadn't expected that the enemy would confront them alone, and it seemed that his Realm was also quite high. However, he couldn't sense any aura emanating from him.
This person was not only mysterious but also quite strange.
After just a short while, Zuo Dao lost interest. Although this Cultivation Method was a rare find for Green Wilderness, within a brief period, Zuo Dao had already identified its flaws. With some modifications, it could be adapted for use by Heterodox.
Losing patience, Zuo Dao transformed into a Primordial beast.
With his use of Cebu Foot Smoke, he entered an entirely different Realm. If these assassins were like light smoke, then he was a wisp of ethereal mist—elusive and intangible.
As Zuo Dao changed his movement technique, Green Wilderness sensed something amiss and quickly withdrew. However, it was already too late.
Zuo Dao's ethereal form entwined with a wisp of light smoke. As everyone executed their techniques to perfection, no one could discern the true situation. The two wisps of smoke touched and separated instantly, followed by a headless corpse falling from the sky.
One strike, one life taken.
Moreover, this was accomplished amidst the encirclement of many; no one had seen how Zuo Dao had killed their teammate. The only one who knew the truth was the deceased himself.
When Zuo Dao engaged that person, he swung a punch forward. As the assassin saw the suddenly enlarged fist before him, he hurriedly raised his sword to block. Even so, both his head and sword were effortlessly shattered by Zuo Dao's strike.
The slaughter was about to begin. With one successful hit, Zuo Dao did not pause for a moment and floated toward the next target.
"Surround him, Heart!" Green Wilderness shouted in alarm upon witnessing one of their team members killed effortlessly by the enemy, but it was too late.
No one knew how this battle ended. When Yan Sui Fa arrived, all that remained on the ground were headless corpses. Zuo Dao stood there, seemingly a bit fatigued.
"Damn it, the Dao blockade is such a hassle," Zuo Dao said, catching his breath as he looked at the arriving Yan Sui Fa. "You're too slow; just help me back to the boat. I'm exhausted."
Yet Yan Sui Fa stood still, staring at the corpses on the ground.
"Golden Punishment."
Regardless of Yan Sui Fa's astonishment at how Zuo Dao single-handedly slaughtered an entire team of Golden Punishment, the entire Eastern Victory Continent was stirred up due to Zhao Yanwu's incident.
"Who dares to issue such a bounty? And who in Dark Realm took it?" An elder was fuming in the Dark Division Headquarters. The people beneath him were as silent as cicadas in winter, afraid to make a sound lest they attract his attention.
"And when did people from Dark Realm become targets for others to hunt? Why is no one speaking? Is there no capable person to explain this to me?"
The elder's voice grew louder as he pointed a massive finger at everyone present.
"Good, very good. Since no one is talking, let me tell you this: if you don't kill all those involved from Dark Realm this time, you won't need to come back. Just leave," the elder waved his hand dismissively as if shooing away flies.
Immediately, throughout the Eastern Victory Continent, wherever Dark Realm's influence reached received the Dark Token, and it was of the highest level—Golden Order. The conveyed message or command was singular.
"Eliminate all personnel of the Dark Realm."
With this command, shockwaves rippled through the ranks. No one understood why the Dark Realm had issued such an order, nor did the Dark Realm anticipate that it would dare to give such a command.
As the teams of the Dark Realm swept through all their strongholds like locusts, leading local forces in a rampage, a similar scene unfolded within the headquarters of the Dark Realm.
"Very well, who among you thought taking on this mission wouldn't provoke the Dark Realm? Huh?" An elderly man spoke, his body shrouded in dark energy, his aura heavy and oppressive.
"Since the issuance of the order from the Dark Realm and the Golden Order, within less than an incense stick's time, over ten of our strongholds have been completely destroyed by the enemy. Listen—completely." The old man paused, casting a cold glare at everyone present.
"I know there are some dirty dealings and conflicts among you. Normally, I turn a blind eye as long as it stays within my tolerance. But look at what you've done now!" The murderous intent in his voice grew stronger.
"The Old Ghost Zhao has already turned against me. Until we clarify this matter and hand over those involved in this incident, the Dark Realm will not relent. Tell me what we should do now?"
"Ruler, we cannot allow the Dark Realm to act with impunity. With our strength, we have nothing to fear from them." A figure in black robes stepped forward from below the platform, but before he could finish speaking, he was seized by the old man and drained of life.
"You may continue!" The old man glared ominously at his subordinates below.
Due to this incident, the Dark Realm had suffered significant losses, and it was no wonder that the old man was furious enough to kill. Similarly, the ruler of the Dark Realm was also filled with rage.
Chaos erupted in Dongsheng as Zuo Dao, Zhao Yanwu, and Chen Yang took center stage, leading squads into battle. Orders were no longer necessary; both sides were already fighting with bloodlust.
