Two days later, it was my turn to be on duty again.
As soon as I stepped into the hospital, the Bald Director called me over and asked me to come to his office. Although I felt a bit puzzled, I complied and headed there.
I gently pushed open the office door. Inside, besides the director, there was a stern-looking stranger sitting quietly.
To my surprise, upon seeing me enter, the Bald Director stood up without a word and hurriedly walked out, leaving me alone with the cold-faced man. I furrowed my brow slightly, confusion flickering in my eyes as I stood there, unsure of what to do.
When I finally left the office and returned to the duty room, I noticed that the weather had grown increasingly cold.
I shrank my neck like a cat and quickly slipped into the duty room, reaching out to turn on the Heater. Then, I walked over to the window and slowly closed the small window in the duty room, leaving just a tiny crack for ventilation. A chill breeze seeped through that gap, causing me to shiver involuntarily.
I picked up the cup of water on the table and took a sip. The warm liquid flowed down my throat, bringing a touch of warmth.
In this cozy air, drowsiness washed over me like a tidal wave, coming without warning and making it hard for me to resist.
Feeling a bit too warm, I slowly removed my coat and casually draped it over the back of a chair before turning to lie down on the small bed. My eyelids felt as heavy as lead, closing together without any intention of opening again.
I felt as if my body was floating in gentle air, completely beyond my control.
Deep down, I knew I was sinking into an unstoppable sleep, but at that moment, I had no strength to struggle against it; I could only accept it calmly.
Who cares about rounds? Who cares about patients?
I thought to myself that all the patients must have taken their sleeping pills by now; they were surely sleeping more soundly than I was.
I don't know how long it had been, but suddenly my body felt something unusual, as if a faint breath was gently brushing past me.
I slowly opened my eyes to see a blurry figure in front of me.
I blinked hard, and as my pupils gradually adjusted to focus, the figure had already pressed closely against me, soft and warm, like a gentle mass of flesh.
Yes, my body accurately told me that this was a woman with a fragrant and healthy body. As I focused my gaze, I was startled to recognize her—it's Liu Yan!
She held me tightly, completely naked, her smooth skin pressed against mine.
The warm breath she exhaled rose before my eyes, transforming into wisps of white mist that carried a hint of intimacy.
I murmured, "Am I dreaming?"
I felt her gently kiss my cheek; the wet sensation was like a dragonfly touching the water, yet it made my heart skip a beat.
She leaned close to my ear and whispered in a voice as soft as feathers brushing against skin, "Yes, you are dreaming."
A smile crept onto my lips. In a dream! Why is it in a dream?
I sighed inwardly, wishing so much that this was real!
But there are benefits to being in a dream.
I slightly lifted my head and leaned in closer to Liu Yan's ear, softly nuzzling against her. The movement was gentle and slow, as if savoring this rare dream.
I felt as if I were intoxicated, my gaze becoming hazy as I murmured, "It's good that this is just a dream; I have no guilt."
Slowly, I turned over, moving cautiously as if afraid to disturb this beautiful dream, pressing the enchanting figure beneath me.
When I awoke, it was already morning.
Sunlight streamed through the cracks in the window, casting a warm glow on my face. I slowly opened my eyes, and everything seemed as if nothing had ever happened.
I was still lying in my duty room, with no trace of Liu Yan anywhere.
Sitting up in confusion, I adjusted my clothes, but strangely, there were no marks on my body at all.
Even a spring dream should leave some trace behind, right?
Yet now, there was nothing.
I let out a silly laugh and said to myself, "Heh, what a strange Seductive Dream!"
As the morning sun gradually pierced through the mist of dawn, like golden threads scattered across the hospital lawn, I pushed Liu Yan's wheelchair out of the ward and into the sunlight as usual.
I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but today felt a bit off. Perhaps it was because of that Seductive Dream from last night; whenever I saw Liu Yan, an inexplicable awkwardness surged within me.
Especially when my hand brushed against her soft, delicate body; it felt eerily similar to last night's sensation. I trembled slightly and tried to shake off that strange feeling.
To break the awkward silence, I desperately searched for a topic in my mind to talk to her about.
But I was just being futile; she still ignored me, staring blankly at the ever-changing white clouds in the sky, her gaze hollow and profound, as if lost in her own world, completely unaware of my presence.
As the time for sunbathing approached, I pushed the wheelchair and brought her to a bench at the edge of the lawn.
I gently sat down on the bench, reached into my pocket for a cigarette, and lit it. As the aroma of tobacco slowly spread in my mouth, I suddenly noticed Liu Yan's eyes fixed on me.
Her eyes were beautiful, like two transparent cat's eyes shimmering with enchanting light under the sun. But that gaze was piercing, locked onto me so intensely that it sent a chill down my spine.
My body stiffened slightly, and I nearly dropped the cigarette in my hand.
I asked with a trembling voice, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" My tone betrayed a hint of anxiety.
She slowly opened her mouth and said to me, "How did you feel last night?"
I felt as if I had been electrocuted, jolting in surprise. "What? What did you say…?"
I widened my eyes, staring at her in shock.
She composed herself and then spoke each word deliberately: "How did you feel last night?"
Her gaze was calm yet profound, making it impossible to decipher what thoughts lay within her mind.
