For the ocean, the Black Witch cared far more than she did.
The Ocean Monarch had seen a hundred years pass, yet after a millennium, only she remained the eternal guardian of this vast blue sea.
The Black Witch raised an eyebrow after hearing this. "You certainly have a knack for storytelling."
"If you don't believe me, soon the story will turn into reality," she replied.
The Black Witch narrowed her eyes, their gazes locked in a tense standoff.
Suddenly, dark sparks gathered in her hand, forming a slender staff. An ancient incantation flew from her lips, and white light radiated from the tip of the staff in all directions.
Wherever it reached, time froze, and the seawater became still; the Black Witch appeared to age slightly.
"I can only freeze them for two hours. You must bring back the Heart of the Ocean, no matter what."
Xia Yangyang tilted her head back, admiration sparkling in her eyes. "Thank you, that's enough. I will bring back the Heart of the Ocean, even if it costs me my life."
The Black Witch turned her head with a smile. "Do you know where to go? Keep that place in your mind; I'll send you there."
In the next moment, Xia Yangyang felt her legs give way as she stepped into a black hole in space and time, spinning wildly.
Before long, she found herself standing on a pristine stone surface, the dizziness fading away. She opened her eyes to see a cold light glimmering in her gaze.
"Power Pill Speed Shoes purchased successfully and activated. Duration: 30 minutes. Shadow Shift Skill activated successfully. Total cost: 2000 Luck Points. Enjoy your experience!"
This was the second time Xia Yangyang used Shadow Shift, swapping her appearance with Victor in the eyes of outsiders.
All the researchers present were stunned by this sudden appearance of Victor. They instinctively glanced at the mechanical platform, where the mutated Tentacle creature had been trapped, now transformed into a girl.
The girl was covered in blood and flesh, her eyes vacant and lifeless, merely staring at the dangling pocket watch, with only her face still recognizable.
The engineer beside the Second Generation Mother Body No. 10086 also removed his headset and shouted loudly, "Doctor, we have an unexpected situation! The school of fish has stopped approaching the Torpedo Reactor!"
Chaos erupted suddenly. The well-trained Special Forces were the first to raise their machine guns, spraying bullets toward Victor's position.
The button to release the mechanical arm's grip was suddenly smashed down by a fist. Xia Yangyang on the mechanical platform fell to the ground like a rag doll, while dozens of spare mechanical arms slithered toward the new Victor like snakes spitting out their tongues.
This Victor seemed unwilling to engage in battle; he dodged swiftly with a clear objective.
He punched through the Incubator behind the Doctor, pulling the frail Little Ian from his slumber into his arms.
The little guy opened his eyes just a crack, clutching at Victor's chest with his small hand. It seemed unaffected by the skill's illusion and recognized Xia Yangyang's face.
A faint smile appeared on his pale face as he said, "Mommy, I returned your heart."
Xia Yangyang's pupils suddenly trembled. "Ian, what nonsense is he talking about? No, how does he know about the heart?"
Victor lifted his head, staring intently at the Doctor, who was surrounded by heavy weaponry.
He tilted his head slightly, scrutinizing Victor in front of him. The system blared, "Quick, smash that pocket watch to break the hypnosis!"
Xia Yangyang, wearing her speed shoes, darted away like a flash of lightning, disappearing from her spot.
The protective barrier around Doctor was breached by her rapid movement, creating a path.
With fierce determination, she kicked hard at Doctor's wrist in a fit of rage. A cry of pain echoed in her ears as the matching pocket watch flew away. She caught it in one hand and crushed it in her palm.
Meanwhile, bang bang bang bang.
Xia Yangyang felt a deafening roar in her ears and slowly looked down at her waist and abdomen, where seven or eight holes were oozing blood.
Behind her, Doctor's left hand was emitting smoke from a gun, but it wasn't a hand at all; it was a smooth, modified wrist with an embedded long gun.
