The carriage slowly moved along the avenue and finally stopped in front of a very luxurious house.
"Flora, we have arrived."
Miller reached out to her, Daphne lowered her head and looked at his fair and large palm, hesitated for a moment not knowing what she was thinking, and then slowly placed her hand on top of it.
Miller held her delicate and soft hand in return, leading her slowly out of the carriage.
Outside the carriage, a noblewoman dressed in dark red has been waiting for a long time. When the two people get off, she goes up to curtsey and greet them.
"Good evening, two esteemed guests. Thank you for coming in person," Mrs. Gina says with a rich but peculiar accent.
Miller let go of Daphne's hand, took a few steps forward, and shook hands with Mrs. Gina, gently kissing the back of her hand. "Not at all, we are the ones disturbing your rest."
Mrs. Gina smiled and led the two into her house, chatting with Miller. Daphne obediently followed her brother.
Gina led them upstairs, opened the brown wooden door, and Daphne immediately saw the piles of silk, fabric, and many mannequins inside. Some mannequins were still wearing finished or semi-finished garments, and various sewing tools were neatly arranged on the table.
Her attention was quickly drawn to the various clothing on the mannequins, and she walked away from Miller to admire them.
"Miss Daphne," came Mrs. Gina's voice from a little distance away, "It's time to discretion your figure."
Daphne withdrew her gaze and walked over to Mrs. Gina.
Standing in front of a full-length mirror, she opened her arms and obediently let Gina check her measurements with a tape measure. She stared at her face in the mirror and asked with some confusion, "Why do we need to measure again?"
Bending over, Gina carefully measured the curve of her waist and replied, "Miss Daphne's figure is not always constant. We send someone to remeasure every four months. Since Miss Daphne is here now, we might as well measure again ahead of schedule."
It's not always the same, does that mean she might get fat? Daphne wink.
Miller didn't stand aside and stare at his sister. He leaned against the window, propping up his chin and gazing deeply outside, as if pondering something.
"By the way..." Daphne remembered something and turned to call out, "Brother, where is Lucia?"
Miller kept staring out the window without moving, as if he hadn't heard her voice.
Daphne furrowed her brows in confusion and looked towards her brother by the window, wanting to call out again.
"Mrs. Gina" interrupted her with a pleasant voice, saying, "Daphne Miss, your maid just got off the carriage early. I asked her to go to the back storeroom to help find a few sets of samples. She will come to you later to try on the styles."
Is that so?
Daphne turned her face and looked blankly into the mirror, meeting her own amethyst-colored eyes. She didn't know why, but she had a strange and uneasy feeling in her heart. She had a premonition that something unexpected was about to happen.
Soon, her figure had been measured. Mrs. Gina took out a small notebook and asked her some questions about her preferences. After finishing, she said to her, "Next, I need to measure Mr. Vanthro's figure. Miss Daphne, if you're feeling bored, you can go downstairs and have some snacks."
Miller came over at some point and comfortingly patted Daphne's head, leaning in to whisper, "Go play downstairs for a while."
Daphne Looking into her brother's gentle eyes, she grabbed his button and muttered, "Hurry up then..."
Miller With a smirk, he lowered his face and kissed her on the corner of her mouth.
Daphne was suddenly made flustered by his intimate behavior in front of strangers, and considering Mrs. Gina, she quickly pushed him away.
