A few hours later, Jiang Chen and the others arrived at a valley in Mount Buddha, where the Eastern Deity Shrine was located. The shrine occupied a large area, and as Jiang Chen gazed ahead, he could see that all the external Spiritual Energy was being absorbed into the Eastern Deity Shrine.
"You all wait outside. I'll go in and bring the Eastern Deity out," Jiang Chen said, striding alone into the shrine.
As Jiang Chen walked away, Du Guanghua turned to Tengye Kikuko, his voice trembling slightly as he asked, "Can I ask what grievance there is between Mr. Jiang and the Eastern Deity?"
"Manager Du, I just told you that Yo Yinan is dead, and it was Mr. Jiang who killed him," Tengye Kikuko replied.
"What? Why didn't you say so earlier?" Du Guanghua exclaimed, stepping back in shock, his face pale with fear.
"If it weren't for your insistence on betting with Mr. Jiang earlier, I wouldn't have told you now. Manager Du, Mr. Jiang came to find the Eastern Deity to destroy it. You are bound to lose this bet," Tengye Kikuko laughed. She had been just as shocked as Du Guanghua last night, but now she had come to terms with it.
Du Guanghua looked ashen, unsure of what to do next.
Xu Zhuzhu and Qian Xinyi exchanged glances; Xu Zhuzhu's eyes flickered with a hint of delight. If that were true, she wouldn't have to marry Du Guanghua after all. Meanwhile, Qian Xinyi comforted Du Guanghua, saying, "Manager Du, if you lose, you lose. It's just a verbal bet; you can always deny it later."
Du Guanghua found Qian Xinyi's words reassuring. "Miss Qian, Miss Xu, I will need your help then," he said.
"Manager Du, your matters are my matters; I will definitely help," Qian Xinyi promised eagerly.
Xu Zhuzhu remained silent.
Seeing that Du Guanghua seemed intent on dodging responsibility, Tengye Kikuko chuckled and said, "Manager Du, as an outsider, let me advise you: if you lose, you can plead for mercy, but never think about going back on your word. If you do that, I can guarantee that Mr. Jiang will kill you."
"Kill me? If he dares to kill me, he won't be able to stay in Huaxia anymore and will never get my money," Du Guanghua retorted confidently. He believed that in this day and age, no one could kill without consequence—especially not someone like him who had a certain status in Huaxia.
"Manager Du, if you truly understood Mr. Jiang, you wouldn't say such things. You can ignore my warning if you wish; just don't regret it later," Tengye Kikuko smiled sadly for him. Why did he have to provoke Jiang Chen? It was like courting death. Jiang Chen could kill without blinking an eye; he had even dared to murder within the Takeda Family in Island Nation. Compared to them, Du Guanghua was just a wealthy man from Huaxia—killing him would be a trivial matter for Jiang Chen.
"I still don't believe he would dare to murder," Du Guanghua insisted.
Tengye Kikuko fell silent and looked at the Eastern Deity Shrine.
Although Du Guanghua doubted Jiang Chen's willingness to kill him, he still felt some unease creeping in. He thought that perhaps he should offer Jiang Chen a few hundred million just in case; giving up all his assets was out of the question.
"Have you ever seen Jiang Chen murder someone?" Xu Zhuzhu asked curiously.
"Yes. The Takeda Family—do you know them?" Tengye Kikuko nodded in response.
"I know; they are a prominent family from your Island Nation. Did Mr. Jiang murder someone within the Takeda Family?" Xu Zhuzhu asked in shock.
Tengye Kikuko smiled but did not respond directly; her silence confirmed the implication.
