I let out a sigh of relief, realizing that it had all been an illusion. 0

"The place is simple; I hope you won't mind, Miss," he said as he led me inside and poured a cup of tea for me. 0

"How could I complain? I am truly grateful that you have taken me in," I replied with a radiant smile, "I am Liuli. May I ask how to address you, Sir?" I performed a slight bow. 0

"I am Ye Wuxin," he said, bowing in return. 0

Ye Wuxin? That name sounded somewhat familiar. 0

He then gazed at the ribbon tied around my right wrist for quite some time, his eyes gradually lightening as he smiled and asked, "What is that you have tied on your hand?" 0

I glanced at it casually and replied, "Oh, this? It's a gift from someone." 0

It had been so long that I had forgotten what that person looked like. 0

Ye Wuxin didn't press further and simply said, "It's getting late; you should rest early." 0

I nodded repeatedly, pleased with his suggestion. It would be easier to absorb his essence while he slept. 0

"Then I'll take my leave and go to bed. Please make yourself comfortable," he said, walking over to the bed. He lay down fully clothed without hesitation. 0

I stood there in shock for a moment before suddenly realizing what was happening. 0

This Ye Wuxin—what did he mean by 'make yourself comfortable'? Did he not understand the etiquette of yielding? 0

I looked around the small room, which contained only a bed and a table, my eyes wide open in disbelief. 0

He took the bed for himself and expected me to sleep where?! 0

However, as someone who had been graciously taken in during difficult times, I couldn't very well force my host out of his own bed. So I leaned against the table, arms crossed tightly over my chest, glaring at Ye Wuxin as I waited for him to fall asleep, my expression a mix of helplessness and annoyance. 0

After what felt like an eternity, I finally heard the steady sound of his breathing from the bed. I quickly stood up and tiptoed over, moving as quietly as possible to avoid making any noise. 0

Die-hard Nerd, watch me drain your essence! 0

I bared my teeth and flexed my claws, then leaned in slowly towards his exquisitely beautiful thin lips, my body slightly tilting forward. 0

Just as I was about to touch his lips, he suddenly rolled over, turning onto his side to sleep. 0

Refusing to accept defeat, I stretched my neck and leaned in, continuing my quest to find his lips, extending my neck as far as it could go. 0

To my surprise, he turned again, facing outward. 0

My mouth twitched; I nearly pressed down on his face and bit him. My fist clenched involuntarily. 0

Calm and composed as I am, how could I do something so reckless? 0

Taking a deep breath, I... continued my efforts. 0

I got closer, rolled over, got closer again, rolled over again... 0

After several rounds of this, I could no longer maintain my composure. My brows furrowed tightly, veins popping on my forehead. 0

If it weren't for the fact that Die-hard Nerd was breathing so evenly, appearing deeply asleep, I would have thought he wasn't asleep at all! 0

Otherwise, how could he be so perfectly contrary to me?! 0

Fortunately, my perseverance is strong; I was determined not to give up until I achieved my goal, a glint of stubbornness in my eyes. 0

After causing such a ruckus all night long, by the time morning came and the scholar got up, he was greeted by the sight of me with two enormous dark circles under my eyes. He looked astonished, his eyes widening slightly: “Liuli Girl, didn’t you sleep well last night?” 0

“What do you think?” I shot him a resentful look—the culprit behind my sleepless night—before drifting like a wandering soul onto the bed and collapsing heavily onto it. 0

I was just so... tired. 0

I slept soundly until noon. 0

When I finally got up, Nerd began pondering my future plans: “I wonder what Liuli Girl intends to do from here on out?” 0

"I have always relied on my two sisters, but now that they are gone, I have nowhere to go..." As I spoke, I lowered my head again and raised my hand to wipe away my tears, gently brushing my face. Of course, all that could be heard was the sound of crying, with no tears in sight. 0

The scholar pondered for a moment before speaking again, "If that is the case, would you mind staying here with me for the time being?" 0

"Yes! Of course!" 0

I hadn't even tried to persuade him much, and yet the Nerd so readily agreed to take me in. It truly felt like a stroke of luck. 0

"Thank you for your kindness, young master. I, Liuli, am willing to serve you as a maid in return for your generosity." 0

As soon as I finished speaking, the Nerd happily interjected, "That works perfectly. I happen to have a matter at hand; I wonder if the Liuli Girl could assist me?" 0

"Huh?" 0

I looked up and saw a glimmer of amusement in the scholar's eyes. That smile carried a hint of cunning that sent a shiver down my spine, causing my body to tremble slightly. 0

Upon closer inspection, he still appeared refined and composed, making it hard to discern anything unusual. Perhaps I had just imagined it. 0

I paused for a moment and then forced a smile. "Please go ahead, young master." 0

I was merely exchanging pleasantries, yet this Nerd was truly going with the flow. 0
