"Zi Qi, wake up. Where's the antidote?"
Mu Junze asked anxiously as he looked at him.
At that moment, Su Che had lost all rationality, and he naturally had no idea where the antidote was.
In desperation, Mu Junze had to restrain Su Che with one hand while using the other to check his pulse. In the process, he accidentally brushed against Su Che's clothing.
A sudden warmth spread from his fingertips across his body, prompting Mu Junze to quickly release Su Che.
However, as soon as he let go, Su Che resumed his previous actions, and if this continued, there would be nothing left of him in no time.
Mu Junze forced himself to suppress the effects of the drug; fortunately, he hadn't come into contact with much, but he couldn't afford to touch any more.
He glanced at Su Che and, feeling helpless, gritted his teeth. He tore down the bed curtains and swiftly removed Su Che's clothes, tossing them aside. Just as he was about to wrap Su Che in the curtains, he caught sight of Su Che's condition and felt a rush of heat flood his mind. His hands froze mid-motion, his throat dry and his body burning with desire.
He cursed inwardly; the potency of the drug was unexpectedly strong. It seemed that during the clothing change, he had inadvertently touched more than he intended. Now it was too late for him to suppress it with his internal energy.
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Mu Junze found Su Che grabbing at the hem of his shirt.
Su Che climbed up along his clothes; those smooth, delicate arms brushed against Mu Junze's cheek, and soft lips grazed over him. The hot breath against his ear sent blood racing through his veins, amplifying the effects of the drug to their peak.
Mu Junze bit down on his tongue to regain a sliver of clarity. His voice was hoarse as he struggled to contain himself while looking at the proactive Su Che, fully aware that he wasn't in a clear state of mind but still asking a question.
"Zi Qi... are you sure? Look closely; I'm Mu Junze, not Xu Mu."
He frowned at Su Che. Although Su Che had dropped all defenses upon seeing him—indicating trust—he couldn't betray that trust. If this moment of intimacy led to their separation forever, he would rather risk his life than do anything inappropriate.
Su Che frowned deeply and murmured in displeasure.
"Don't... don't Xu Mu... no... no way, A Je, save me..."
Hearing this, Mu Junze furrowed his brow and calculated the time; it seemed he wouldn't be able to wait for Xiao Si to arrive. As he pondered how to temporarily suppress the drug's effects within him, he underestimated the dosage Xu Mu had administered. In a moment of carelessness, Su Che leaned in and kissed him. The instant their lips met, all remaining rationality slipped away from Mu Junze completely.
Following Su Che's movements, the two embraced and kissed, hands instinctively wandering to Su Che's waist. Feeling his softness, Xiao Si's heart raced, transforming passivity into initiative. Even in the heat of the moment, there was a sense of restraint; despite losing rationality, he subconsciously tried to be as gentle as possible with Su Che.
When Xiao Si returned after arranging for the unconscious Xiao Tao, he found Xiao Nan collapsed at the door and realized Mu Junze had arrived. He initially intended to report back, but upon hearing the noises from inside, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Having no experience with matters between men and women, he quietly carried the unconscious Xiao Nan to a more distant spot to stand guard.
The next morning, Su Che woke up before Mu Junze. Feeling sore all over, he turned over and was about to go back to sleep when a sudden thought jolted him upright. Looking at his exposed self in shock, he quickly glanced beside him. The urge to kill Xu Mu surged within him, but when he saw that it was Mu Junze lying next to him instead of Xu Mu, Su Che's grip on the blanket tightened. Memories of last night flooded back, causing his face to turn crimson and his heart to race uncontrollably.
His mind went blank as he pondered how to explain things when Mu Junze woke up. After a moment, he carefully got out of bed. Startled by the sight of the still-unconscious Xu Mu nearby, he hesitated but decided to cover Xu Mu's face with the tablecloth using two fingers.
Noticing the discarded bed curtains, Su Che recalled last night’s events. It was that clothing that caused the trouble; if Mu Junze wanted to save him, he would have had to touch it. That explained last night's intimacy, but understanding it was one thing—causing someone to lose their dignity was another matter entirely.
Frowning, Su Che realized there were no clean clothes available and reluctantly put on the slightly dirty outfit from yesterday.
Moments later, Mu Junze was awakened by the creaking sound of a wooden chair. Rubbing his sleepy eyes, he suddenly jolted awake upon seeing the empty bed and felt a wave of disappointment wash over him. Turning towards the source of the noise, he spotted Su Che standing on a stool. Above him hung a thick satin ribbon from the beam.
Without caring whether he was dressed or not, Mu Junze rushed forward and caught Su Che in his arms. Before Su Che could say anything, Mu Junze frowned deeply, his eyes glistening with tears filled with grievance and urgency.
"Zi Qi, how could you do this? Although last night was an accident and I should bear the blame, if you dislike me or resent me, I promise not to disturb you again. Why must you resort to such extremes?"
"What would happen if something were to happen to you? As long as you are safe and sound, I would willingly give my life at this moment. I know no amount of words can make up for the harm I've caused you, but whatever you ask of me, I will do it—just please stay alive."
Su Che blinked in surprise at this sudden outpouring of emotion from Mu Junze. It took him until the end of Mu Junze's speech to realize that he had misunderstood his intentions. At that moment, tears brimmed in Mu Junze's eyes as if they could fall at any moment; this pitiful expression made Su Che unable to suppress a laugh.
The formidable warrior who had slain thousands on the battlefield without flinching—a dignified duke of Beiqin—had such an adorable side to him.
But he also knew that he was tense to the core, willing to die rather than let him suffer even a little. This feeling was something he had never experienced with Xu Mu.
Thinking of this, Su Che suddenly froze. Hadn't he once felt the same way about Xu Mu?
It turned out that loving someone was like this, and being loved was such happiness. He reached out to wrap his arms around Mu Junze's neck, burying his head in Mu Junze's strong chest, unable to hold back his tears.
How lucky he was to meet someone who cared for him so deeply. Yet in his previous life, he had been blind to all the good in him. Now that heaven had given him a chance to live again, how could he dare, how could he bear to let him go?
Caught off guard by Su Che's sudden embrace, Mu Junze stiffened, standing frozen in place. Feeling Su Che's tears, he didn't know what to do.
"I... but where did I go wrong? Why does it make you so sad... Zi Qi... do you truly... hate me this much?"
