My name and my company were trending online.
The headline read:
“Huiran Founder Niu Xinmin Campus Bullying”
“Niu Xinmin Spreading False Rumors”
Curious, I clicked in and discovered it was a video from the school anniversary performance where I smashed Huo Yan's piano. However, the clip had been edited to only show me bullying Huo Yan, completely cutting out the part where I was playing the piano.
Additionally, someone had contacted my classmates from senior year to confirm that I had indeed bullied Huo Yan. As a result, Huiran's stock price began to plummet.
Partners started calling to ask what was going on and how I planned to handle the situation. I told them I needed some time to sort things out. After all, Huo Yan was currently in the spotlight, and her fans were ready to tear me apart.
If I clarified things now, Huo Yan would undoubtedly seize the opportunity to play the "victim," making matters even worse. I knew she wouldn't let this slide.
Sure enough, during a live stream, Huo Yan brought up the incident.
“I know everyone is concerned about my recent situation,” she began. “There have been many rumors about me online, making it sound as if they are true.”
“But in reality, I have been a victim of Campus Bullying, just not in the way they are saying.”
Huo Yan went on to tell her story. She recounted how she was mocked for her pronunciation in elementary school. She mentioned being hit with a piano during a performance. She said she didn’t dare to fight back because the other person came from a wealthy family. She added that due to her financial struggles, she had no choice but to endure it all.
With tears stre Min g down her face, Huo Yan drew sympathy from many who rushed to comfort her.
Huo Yan was clever; she didn't name me directly. Instead, she guided her fans to attack me online. Despite this, some viewers noticed the inconsistencies in her statements.
"Aren't you the one who said you had pronunciation issues since childhood? But you sang so well before; it doesn't sound like someone with pronunciation problems at all," one pointed out.
"Yeah, and you clearly said the school anniversary performance was your first, but now you're saying you had a piano incident before. Isn't that contradictory?" another chimed in.
Huo Yan's expression stiffened as she hurriedly explained, "I'm sorry, I misspoke. It was my first school anniversary performance."
"I didn't participate in the anniversary because there was an accident at a previous performance."
After the livestream ended, my dad called me home and insisted that I merge Huiran with The Niu. He also wanted me to publicly apologize.
I refused. "Why should I apologize?"
"It was Huo Yan who provoked me first."
"Why should I tolerate her?"
My dad's expression darkened. "Xiao Min, you are being unreasonable."
"The Niu and The Li have already collaborated; your brother and Li Zhan have teamed up to take several projects from Huiran."
"If you keep being willful like this, are you trying to ruin Huiran?"
I scoffed, "What does that have to do with me?"
"Huiran is a project they took by their own merit; I have nothing to say about that."
"But asking me to apologize is out of the question."
My dad glared at me angrily. "Get out!"
I turned and walked away. Huiran's stock price continued to drop. Our partners expressed hesitation and were reluctant to sign contracts with us.
Niu Xinyan and Huo Yan collaborated with the Niu and the Li to snatch several large projects from me. Now, I am almost out of resources. Even in the company parking lot, I am nearly blocked in.
There was an extreme fan of Huo Yan. She held a bottle of sulfuric acid in her hand, glaring at me fiercely. "You're Niu Xinmin, right? If you dare to bully our Yan, I'll make sure you’re disfigured!"
Fortunately, I had brought bodyguards with me. Otherwise, I might have really been splashed with acid by that person.
