For a moment, we fell into silence, both lost in those painful memories. After a while, I managed to steady my emotions and said softly, "Zhang Fengyi, technically, I should call you Aunt Zhang."
"Actually, my dad never forgot about you."
"He always cared for you as his senior and felt deeply guilty."
"These are the things my mom told me before she passed away."
"My mom said she understood and never blamed my dad, and she asked me not to blame him either."
"Before he left, he left me something along with a letter."
"He entrusted me to deliver it to someone but didn't tell me who that person was."
"When I asked him, he said that person would come looking for me."
"Now it seems that person is you."
"And that item is a piece of jade, identical to the one buried in my family's Ancestral Grave."
After saying this, I paused, staring at Zhang Fengyi, waiting for her response. Suddenly, with a thud, Zhang Fengyi collapsed to the ground and cried out loudly.
"Wu Yuanshan, why didn't you explain everything to me? You bastard!"
"My master and I have been waiting for your return."
"The last words he uttered before he left were your name; do you know that?"
"I hate you, you heartless one!"
"Do you think you're so great? You've hurt two women!"
"Yuan Shan..."
Zhang Fengyi cried out in a frenzy.
I didn't try to persuade her or go over to support her; I let her cry it out.
Zhang Fengyi cried for nearly an hour until she fainted from it. I hurried over to help her, pinching her philtrum until she slowly regained consciousness. After a while, seeing that her complexion had improved, I offered her some water.
Then I took out the piece of jade and the letter, handing them to her. She trembled as she accepted them, gently caressing the jade as if she were touching the face of a loved one.
"Child, I'm sorry. Auntie apologizes to you," she suddenly said after a moment.
I was taken aback.
"I shouldn't have hurt you. You're a good child, and your mother is a Good Mother, a Good Woman."
"I suppose what’s written in this letter is about your father's experience."
"It's all my fault for being so obsessed. If I hadn't buried those Talisman, your father wouldn't have died."
"These two pieces of jade can sense each other. If I had kept the jade with me, I would have known he was gone."
"If I had received the letter sooner, it wouldn't have..."
"Aunt Zhang, it's all in the past now," I comforted her.
Zhang Fengyi slowly stood up.
"Thank you, child."
To my surprise, she bowed deeply to me.

After Zhang Fengyi left, looking relieved and at ease, I took my father's ashes to the temple after his body was cremated.
She asked the Abbot of the temple to chant scriptures for her, hoping to dispel the resentment lingering in her restless spirit.
On the Seventh Day, Da Hei greeted Dad at the door. It followed closely behind her, accompanying her as she wandered around. During dinner, Da Hei squatted beside the spot where Dad usually sat, as if waiting for him to join the meal.
Our family sat quietly at the dining table, eating in silence. After finishing our meal, Da Hei led us to the door, indicating that Dad was about to leave.
“Dad, safe travels!” I said, holding back tears.
“Woof woof!” Da Hei let out a soft bark.
“Dad, just go in peace. We and the kids will be fine!” My wife’s eyes were filled with tears.
“Lao Zhang, it’s a blessing to be family with you in this life!”
“Lao Zhang, take good care of Ahua's Mother over there!” My father-in-law's eyes were red.
Though our family of four was filled with sorrow, we still managed to force a smile and waved our hands toward the unseen.
