On her birthday, Beibei came home from school, carrying a bag from her room.
"Mom, this is a gift from Dad," she said, handing it over.
Liu Yuan took the bag and looked inside to find a beautifully wrapped dress. She opened the bag and pulled out a sheer, lotus pink gown with an intricately designed neckline adorned with sparkling sequins.
"It's so beautiful!" Liu Yuan couldn't help but exclaim.
"Dad said you would definitely like it," Beibei smiled.
A warm feeling surged in Liu Yuan's heart as she touched the fabric of the dress; it was soft and smooth. She unfolded the dress, revealing puffed sleeves that were simply stunning.
"Mom, you should try it on right away!" Beibei urged.
"Okay," Liu Yuan nodded. She held the dress and was about to head to the bedroom when Beibei suddenly remembered something.
"Mom, wait a minute!"
"What is it?" Liu Yuan asked, looking at her curiously.
"There’s more!" Beibei ran to the bottom of Liu Yuan's bookshelf and pulled out another bag.
"What’s this?" Liu Yuan asked in surprise.
"It's shoes, earrings, and a necklace—all prepared by Dad for you," Beibei explained.
"Why did he get so much?" Liu Yuan was a bit astonished.
"Dad said girls should always dress beautifully," Beibei replied with a smile.
Liu Yuan felt a sweet warmth in her heart; she hadn’t expected Chen Yan to be so thoughtful. Beibei opened the bag and took out the shoes, earrings, and necklace. Liu Yuan glanced at them: silver high heels, pink earrings, and a silver diamond necklace—all very pretty.
"Mom, hurry up and try them on!" Beibei was eager to see her mother all dressed up beautifully.
"Alright," Liu Yuan chuckled. Beibei also went to change into her dress and soon ran out after getting ready.
"Mom, I'm all set!"
Liu Yuan was putting on her earrings when she looked up at Beibei.
"My Beibei is so beautiful!"
"Hehe." Beibei smiled happily.
Liu Yuan put on her earrings and then her necklace.
"Mom, you haven't changed your clothes yet!" Beibei reminded her.
"Oh right." Liu Yuan almost forgot.
She picked up her dress to change when Beibei suddenly said, "Mom, do you want to style your hair?"
Liu Yuan thought for a moment, "Let's talk about it later."
"Okay." Beibei nodded.
After changing into her dress, Beibei circled around her mother.
"Mom, you really look so beautiful!"
"Thank you, sweetheart!" Liu Yuan replied with a smile.
Beibei tied her hair into a bun, and Liu Yuan helped her secure it.
"Mom, Dad is already waiting outside," Beibei said anxiously.
"Alright, let's go!" Liu Yuan took Beibei's hand and walked out of the house.
Chen Yan was already dressed in a suit and waiting for them. When he saw the mother and daughter looking elegant, a smile crept onto his face.
"Dad, do you think Mom looks good?" Beibei boasted.
"She looks great," Chen Yan said, gazing at Liu Yuan with warmth in his eyes.
"Of course! My mom is the most beautiful in the world!" Beibei declared proudly.
"That's right," Chen Yan nodded in agreement.
Feeling a bit shy from the compliments from her husband and daughter, Liu Yuan smiled softly, "Let's go."
"Okay." Chen Yan chuckled.
He held Liu Yuan's hand while Beibei held onto her other hand as the three of them stepped out of their home.
Chen Yan drove them to a hotel where the top floor was decorated with many flowers, and a pianist was playing "Happy Birthday."
As soon as Liu Yuan arrived, she spotted a card made by Beibei and Chen Yan.
It had wobbly handwriting that read: Happy Birthday, Mom!
Next to it were cute drawings.
"Mom, this is what I made with Dad," Beibei proudly presented it to her mother.
"How did you two come up with the idea of making a greeting card?" Liu Yuan asked in surprise.
"I wanted to give Mom a gift, but I didn't know what to get, so Dad took me to make a card," Beibei explained.
"You two are really..." Liu Yuan felt a warmth in her heart.
"Happy birthday, Mom," Chen Yan said, looking at her with gentle eyes.
"Thank you," Liu Yuan replied with a slight smile.
"Mom, Dad has another gift for you," Beibei reminded her.
"Hmm?" Liu Yuan turned to Chen Yan.
Chen Yan pulled out a pink watch from his pocket, adorned with diamonds. "Do you like it?"
"I love it," Liu Yuan said, genuinely fond of both the color pink and watches.
"I'll put it on you," Chen Yan said as he fastened the watch around her wrist.
"Thank you," Liu Yuan said, gazing at the watch with a sweet feeling in her heart.
"Yuan Yuan, I really like you. I hope you'll always be my wife," Chen Yan said, looking at her with deep affection.
Liu Yuan was taken aback for a moment, then her cheeks flushed. "I like you too."
"Dad and Mom, kiss!" Beibei chimed in from the side.
Chen Yan and Liu Yuan exchanged a glance and then shared a quick kiss.
"Dad and Mom, look!" Beibei shouted, pointing at the sky.
They followed Beibei's finger and saw fireworks lighting up the sky.
"How beautiful!" Beibei exclaimed excitedly.
"Yes, it's so beautiful," Liu Yuan agreed, marveling at the sight.
Fireworks burst one after another, forming the words: Happy Birthday to You!
Liu Yuan was deeply moved; this was her most unforgettable birthday.
"Mom, this is what Dad prepared for you," Beibei said happily.
"Thank you," Liu Yuan looked at Chen Yan, feeling warmth in her heart.
