"Well, I think that's the only possibility..." I pondered for a moment before continuing, "Even if I might get caught when I go back, I'm still worried about Hu Fang. Let's go back and check..." With that, I didn't care whether Li Zhisheng agreed with my decision or not, and I hurriedly led him back to the district. 0

As soon as we entered the district, I was stunned by the scene before me. In the square, five or six corpses lay sprawled out, most of them with their skulls shattered, appearing to have died from severe head trauma. 0

Surrounding the area were numerous onlookers and a dozen police officers maintaining order. They all looked up at the roof, and the leading officer was shouting at it, "There's nothing to discuss; jumping off won't solve anything..." 0

Seeing this, I quickly stepped forward and looked up at the rooftop. A frail figure stood at the edge. Li Zhisheng leaned in close and whispered in a terrified voice, "Is this really related to what we encountered before?!" 0

I frowned, focusing on the person standing on the roof. Hearing Li Zhisheng's words, I waved my hand to signal him to be quiet. Then I glanced back at the corpses nearby; aside from two that were covered and unrecognizable, the other three were not the couple I had seen in the elevator. 0

At that moment, murmurs arose from the crowd. "What on earth is going on? Why are so many people suddenly committing suicide by jumping off...?" "Listen, this used to be an ancient burial ground; they dug up many bodies when they built here..." 0

Upon hearing these discussions, I thought to myself, "What burial ground? I've looked into this place; during development, not even a gravestone was unearthed. Where could these bodies come from? But these inexplicable deaths certainly make one think of such things." 0

Just then, Li Zhisheng tugged at my sleeve from behind. "Look!" The crowd gasped in unison. I hurriedly looked up just in time to see the person on the roof fall heavily to the ground with a loud thud, splattering brain matter everywhere. The onlookers instinctively recoiled. 0

I wanted to move closer to see what had happened, but there were too many people around; Li Zhisheng and I were pushed back by the crowd. At that moment, a voice came through a loudspeaker: "Everyone disperse! Go home and take care of your families; too many people will ruin the scene..." 0

Hearing this shout reminded me of Hu Fang at home. I turned to Li Zhisheng and said, "You stay here and observe the situation. If you find out anything, let me know immediately. I'm going home to check on Hu Fang." After hearing this, Li Zhisheng nodded slightly at me. "Go ahead; I'll call you if anything comes up." 0

After that, I maneuvered around the police officers and ran home. As soon as I opened the door, darkness enveloped me; my heart sank. 0

I cautiously stepped inside and called out Hu Fang's name repeatedly but received no response. My unease grew stronger. 0

Just then, I noticed a glimmer of light seeping through the crack under Hu Fang's door. Without thinking further, I rushed over in quick strides to her door. Gripping the doorknob tightly, I pushed it open forcefully with a creak. 0

I had braced myself for finding a cold corpse but was instead met with Hu Fang huddled alone under her blanket on the bed. 0

I stepped forward and nudged her. Hu Fang seemed startled, suddenly jumping up from the bed. I looked at her, clutching a pillow tightly to her chest. "Don't be afraid, it's me." 0

Seeing it was me, she slowly lowered the pillow. Concerned, I asked, "What happened? What’s going on?" 0

Hu Fang wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with her sleeve. "Just now... a ghost appeared and told me to give you this..." With that, Hu Fang reached down beside the bed and pulled out a photograph, handing it to me. 0

It was an old black-and-white photo, somewhat faded and unclear due to its age. However, upon closer inspection, I realized that the photo depicted a box—one that looked exactly like the two boxes I had received earlier. 0

Noticing my surprise, Hu Fang turned the photo over in my hands so I could see the back. There was a line of dark red text: "This is a warning." In an inconspicuous corner of the photo, there was also a character written in ancient script, but I couldn't decipher it. 0

"A warning? A warning about what? Does this mean the person who gave me this photo has the last box? Or are the dead people a warning?!" The thought sent a chill down my spine. 0

At that moment, Hu Fang asked, "Where's Li Zhisheng?" I was lost in thought and hadn't heard her question. When she nudged me again for an answer, I replied absentmindedly, "Huh? What’s wrong?" 0

Hu Fang frowned tightly. "I just asked you where Li Zhisheng is!" I explained, "I couldn't stay downstairs, so I asked him to observe the situation down there..." 0

As soon as I finished speaking, I felt something was off. I quickly took out my phone and called Li Zhisheng. "Hello? Li Zhisheng? How's it going?" After asking, all I heard on the other end was a chaotic static noise. 0

Then a faint voice came through: "I... am going to... die..." The voice was intermittent, but I clearly heard that last word—"die"—and it definitely did not belong to Li Zhisheng. 0

I dropped my phone and rushed to the balcony to see if I could spot Li Zhisheng among the crowd below. However, I noticed that all attention from the crowd and police was focused on our building. 0

Hu Fang followed me outside and said, "Since just now, someone has jumped from the building every little while—three people in total..." Before she could finish her sentence, she caught sight of the gazes from below and stopped abruptly. 0

"Are they jumping from our building?!" Hu Fang exclaimed as she tried to look up but found only another balcony above blocking her view. 0

Meanwhile, I searched through the crowd for Li Zhisheng's figure, scanning back and forth several times but finding nothing. Seeing my anxiety, Hu Fang asked beside me, "Did you find Li Zhisheng?" 0

"I couldn't find him; it’s possible that Li Zhisheng is on the roof!" I exclaimed anxiously before turning and rushing out of the room, sprinting toward the top floor. 0

Upon reaching the rooftop, I discovered that the iron gate leading to the platform was already open, its lock lying twisted and deformed on the ground. I hurried outside and saw a dark figure standing at the edge, gazing down. From his silhouette, it had to be Li Zhisheng. 0

I thought to myself, "He must be controlled by something, just like the person who jumped earlier. If I approach recklessly, I might provoke him..." With that in mind, I slowed my pace and cautiously walked toward the figure at the edge. 0

Down below, there were shouts and even cries of pain. But at that moment, I could hear nothing except for the pounding of my own heart echoing in my ears. 0

Time ticked away, and just as I was about to get closer to Li Zhisheng, he suddenly turned around. In that instant, I noticed a faint blue light flickering in his eyes as he grinned and said, "Death is just a beginning~" 0

Seeing that he was under some control yet still able to speak, I quickly asked to stabilize him, "A beginning? A beginning of what?" As I spoke, I slowly moved forward. 0

He heard my question and laughed maniacally, shouting into the void, "Death is just a beginning! Everything has only just begun!" 0

It seemed he had no intention of acknowledging me. Seizing the moment while he was looking away, I rushed forward in an attempt to grab him. Just as my hand was about to touch him, he turned back to me and leaned forward, falling off the edge. 0

In a panic, I lunged forward, stretching my arm out desperately. But it was too late; Li Zhisheng’s clothing slipped through my fingers. 0

I watched as Li Zhisheng plummeted downwards; time felt like it had frozen. The blue light in his eyes vanished in an instant as his expression shifted from madness to shock. 0

His eyes widened as he looked at me with terror and helplessness while I reached out toward him. 0

Before I could react, he had already fallen straight down. 0

I painfully withdrew my arm and turned away, tears streaming down my face like a floodgate burst open. Below me came another gasp of horror; I couldn't bear to look and instead pounded my fists against the ground in regret. 0

Blood splattered from my knuckles as I felt it smear across my face. Yet, I felt no pain—only one thought consumed me: "I must find whoever caused Li Zhisheng's death! I will kill him with my own hands!" 0

Time seemed to stretch on endlessly, and my tears had long since dried up. I sat numbly on the ground, staring at my bloodied fists. "What are you still doing here?!" came Hu Fang's voice from behind me. 0

I turned to look at her, speechless, simply sitting there as if my heart had been completely consumed by hatred. 0

Seeing that I ignored her, Hu Fang rushed over to help me up, but I shook her hand off and stumbled down the stairs. "What’s wrong with you?!" Hu Fang asked anxiously. 0

I let out a dry laugh. "What’s wrong?! I'm fine, I'm doing great, I've never been better." I couldn't help but burst into laughter. 0

At that moment, Hu Fang stepped in front of me and slapped me across the face with a sharp crack. A fiery pain shot through my cheek. Tears glistened in Hu Fang's eyes as she said, "I know you're hurting, but you can't do this." 0

Just moments ago, I felt like I had lost all reason, but Hu Fang's slap brought me back to some semblance of clarity. I patted my head and pondered for a moment. "Thank you, I feel much better." 0

But just then, I noticed someone approaching us from the bottom of the stairs. The person was somewhat frail-looking, and a pair of broken glasses hung from their nose... 0
