"What happened to you two? Did you see something?" I asked. Hearing my question, Hu Fang and Li Zhisheng turned their gazes toward Death Apostle and Yao Long. 0

"Nothing... I'm just a bit worried about being discovered by Yang Master’s people. After all, I can't recognize everyone associated with Yang Master, so it's better to be cautious," Death Apostle replied. Yao Long added, "I'm also on high alert because I'm afraid Mr. Death might encounter danger again." 0

I nodded. "It's true that caution is wise, but we've already come this far. Even if there are Yang Master’s people here, they might not recognize us, so there's no need to be overly tense..." 0

As soon as I finished speaking, the waitress approached with a plate of fragrant dishes. She set it down and said, "This is the Roasted Elk Nose you ordered. Enjoy!" With a slight smile, she turned and left. 0

I looked at the slightly golden dish on the table. "How do you eat this?" Without hesitation, Hu Fang picked up a large piece with her chopsticks and placed it in her bowl. She took a big bite, making a crunching sound. "Mmm! So delicious! You all should try it!" she exclaimed while giving a thumbs-up. 0

Seeing this, everyone couldn't wait any longer and quickly grabbed their chopsticks. I took a piece and put it in my mouth. As I chewed, the tender texture of the meat spread across my palate; its flavor was sweet and savory, with an unexpected crunch. After swallowing, the delightful taste lingered in my mouth for quite some time, leaving me wanting more—it was indeed very tasty. Everyone praised it endlessly. 0

Before the next dish arrived, we finished the Roasted Elk Nose in no time and still felt unsatisfied. So when the waitress came back to serve more dishes, we ordered two more servings... 0

After eating for quite a while, we finally set down our chopsticks when we could no longer eat another bite. Yao Long kept burping and asked me, "When... when are we leaving?" 0

I patted my round belly. "Can you even move right now? Let's take a break..." 0

We rested in the restaurant for over half an hour before feeling somewhat better. After settling the bill, we headed straight to the car rental shop... 0

At the car rental shop, after some deliberation, we ultimately decided on a larger SUV. We were concerned about the road conditions and since there were many of us, it would be cramped if we chose a smaller vehicle. 0

Due to the snow on the ground, we equipped the car with snow chains and gathered some necessary winter gear before officially setting off toward the town where Yao Long was from. 0

Initially, Yao Long drove because he was the only one who knew the exact directions. I worried that if he sat beside me giving directions, he might misremember them, so it was better for him to drive. 0

Along the way, the snow chains clanked against the wheels while the vehicle shook continuously due to poor road conditions compounded by some snow. Yao Long didn't dare to drive fast at all, which made the shaking even more pronounced. 0

I sat in the passenger seat, admiring the endless expanse of snow, my eyes filled with a blanket of white. At that moment, Li Zhisheng in the back seat reminded me, "Don't stare at the snow for too long; you'll get snow blindness." 0

Hearing this, I quickly rubbed my eyes, and sure enough, they felt a bit strange; everything became somewhat blurry. 0

Seeing this, I promptly closed my eyes and rested for a while until I felt a little better. "Yao Long, why don't we switch? You've been staring at the snow too; it can't be good for your eyes..." I glanced over at Yao Long, who had a layer of black gauze covering his eyes. I wondered where he had gotten it from. 0

"It's fine; I got this," he said, pointing to his face. A thin, wing-like black veil completely covered his face, making him look like a bandit. 0

I laughed and asked, "Where did you get that thing?" Yao Long explained, "I tore it off my backpack. It's just the breathable layer inside. It may not be as good as sunglasses, but it's better than nothing." 0

I thought to myself, "No wonder he's always out on missions; he's different..." 0

After that, everyone fell silent. Yao Long and I took turns driving, but he mostly drove while I only took over for a short while to let him rest. 0

After several hours, the car stopped in a place surrounded by hills. It was nearing dusk, and the distant sunset bathed the pure white snow in a hue reminiscent of fresh blood. 0

Yao Long got out to survey the area, and the others followed suit. Standing on the ground, I noticed that although the snow wasn't too deep, it had already covered my ankles. 0

"Everyone be careful; the snow has sealed the ground tightly. If there are any pits underneath, we won't see them at all. Don't wander too far..." Yao Long warned everyone. 0

After hearing this, I walked over to Yao Long and asked him, "How much farther do we have? Are we close?" 0

Yao Long looked around: "If I remember correctly, we just need to go around these two hills to get there. But..." He pointed to the two hills that weren't very high but were quite wide, appearing somewhat hesitant. 0

"But what?" I pressed him. 0

"But that stretch of road is strange; it's rocky and uneven. Even without snow covering it before, I had two flat tires when I came through here. So it left quite an impression on me," Yao Long said worriedly as he checked the tires again. 0

“Didn’t we already prepare two spare tires in the trunk? Since we’ve come this far, we should at least give it a try,” I said. 0

“Alright then, since you insist, let’s keep going. I initially thought everyone could rest in the car for the night and continue in the morning, but on second thought, that might not be very safe…” With that, Yao Long pulled open the car door, jumped into the driver’s seat, and called everyone to get in and set off. 0

At that moment, Hu Fang and Li Zhisheng were throwing snowballs at each other. “Stop playing around and let’s get moving…” Just then, Hu Fang suddenly screamed, “Ah!” and her body sank into the snow. “Hu Fang!” I shouted anxiously as I hurried out of the car. 0

Yao Long and Death Apostle, who had already gotten in the car, were now panicking as well. They quickly jumped out to help. Meanwhile, Li Zhisheng stood frozen in place, seemingly sensing something was wrong. 0

Seeing us rush towards him, he shouted nervously, “Don’t come over! This place is a snow shell; it’s all empty underneath! Quickly look for something like a rope!” 0

Hearing this, I remembered there was indeed a rope in the trunk when we were preparing our supplies. I quickly ran to the back of the car, retrieved the rope from the trunk, tied one end to the vehicle, and tossed the other end to Li Zhisheng. 0

Just as he reached out to grab it, there was a sudden “whoosh,” and the snow beneath him collapsed. He let out a startled scream as he fell through. 0
