Seeing this, I hurriedly took a few steps forward to avoid the scorching beam of light.
Once the beam dissipated, I saw the old man standing not far away, wearing a strange smile, as if he was plotting something.
Noticing this, I couldn't help but channel my strength into my legs and charged straight at him without changing my expression.
As I got closer, I swung my sword at him. The old man dodged my attack with a swift movement and immediately raised his hand to strike at my face.
I quickly bent down to evade his attack. While dodging, I aimed for his waist and swept my sword across. In the blink of an eye, a flash of Black Light passed by; I missed him again as he managed to evade once more.
After a series of exchanges, I began to show signs of fatigue, while the old man appeared much worse for wear. He bent over, gasping for breath, murmuring to himself, "It seems I've really grown old..."
I had no intention of giving him a chance to catch his breath. Seeing his condition, I quickly stepped forward, gripping Jiang Ling tightly with both hands. I raised the sword above my head and gathered my strength, aiming it at the old man who was still bent over and panting.
This strike was powerful and incredibly fast. The old man realized he could no longer evade and raised one arm in a futile attempt to block it.
With a swift motion of my sword, the old man let out a terrible scream as his arm was severed cleanly.
"Now you have two choices before you: one, you end it yourself; two, I will tear you apart. But if I do it, I won’t let you die so easily," I said with a slight smirk, revealing a sinister smile.
"Can I choose a third option..." The old man's face twisted with malice as he pressed his hand against the bleeding stump of his arm. "I didn't want to use this kind of power, but now that it's come to this, let me show you my true strength."
With that, he suddenly roared loudly. A blood-red glow began to emanate from his eyes, and two streams of blood tears flowed from the corners of his eyes—just like Hu Fang when he went berserk.
As his appearance changed, I could clearly feel the power within him surging dramatically.
Seeing this transformation, although I felt no fear in my heart, I understood that if his strength continued to grow, there would be no way for me to match him any longer.
Thinking about it, I couldn't wait any longer. Grabbing Jiang Ling, I pushed off the ground and leaped into the air. In mid-air, I locked onto the old man's position and swung Jiang Ling with all my might. As the Slash Mark was unleashed, I charged a Black Sphere in my other hand, compressing it into a single point once more.
Just as the Slash Mark flew toward the old man, I released the highly compressed Black Sphere from my hand. In an instant, a beam darker than night shot toward him.
In the past, this series of attacks would have crushed any enemy without fail, but now, the old man calmly raised his gaze to observe my assault. He lifted his only hand and aimed it at my attack, opening his palm wide.
At the moment his palm opened, a ball of golden flames erupted into existence. The flames twisted around each other like a tornado, rushing toward my attack.
In an instant, the fiery whirlwind swept through, obliterating my assault completely. Yet instead of diminishing, the flames grew fiercer and charged directly at me in mid-air.
Seeing that resistance was futile, I hurriedly controlled my power to make my body fall rapidly toward the ground. However, to my surprise, the flames followed me down with alarming speed, clearly outpacing me as they closed in for a hit.
Just when it seemed I was about to be struck, a flash of red light shot straight toward the old man. Realizing he didn't know what the red light was, he quickly redirected his flames to form a wall of fire in front of him, incinerating the incoming red light.
Seeing myself saved, I looked in the direction from which the red light had come and saw Yao Long standing alone in the distance, holding Azure Spirit and continuously shooting arrows made of blood.
I didn't know if it was because I had used the power of Hatred or for some other reason, but seeing Yao Long save me filled me with no gratitude whatsoever; instead, I found him an annoyance and even thought about killing him first.
But before I could make a move, the old man sent a stream of fire from his wall straight toward Yao Long. Due to his injuries and exhaustion, Yao Long was in no condition to dodge or defend himself.
As the flames were about to strike Yao Long, Death Apostle shouted urgently from behind me: "Yao Long! Get out of the way!" He rushed toward Yao Long's position. But at his current distance, by the time he arrived, Yao Long would have already turned to ash.
At that moment, noticing that I merely watched coldly without any intention to help, the old man appeared slightly puzzled and asked, "Aren't you going to save him? Isn't he your friend?"
"Friend?" I replied coldly. "Whatever. Right now, all I want is to kill you!" With that thought in mind, I raised my sword and charged at the old man.
At that moment, a figure suddenly sprang out in front of Yao Long, spreading his arms to shield him. In that instant, the searing flames ruthlessly struck his upper body, turning it to ashes in an instant, scattering into the air with the wind.
"Haoyang!" both Yao Long and the Death Apostle shouted in terror.
"So it was Haoyang? I didn't expect him to be foolish enough to seek his own death." With that thought, I ignored Yao Long and the others and charged straight at the old man.
Seeing this, he attempted to use flames to block my attack again. I seized the opportunity, dodging the tornado-like flames. The old man, surprised that I could evade him, conjured another wall of fire in front of him, wrapping himself within it, hoping to stop my advance while using the agile flames to launch an attack against me.
Just when I was at a loss for what to do, Yao Long suddenly shouted at me from not far away, "Shen Xu! Use this! It's what Haoyang left for you!" With that, a red light flashed past me, and I hurriedly grabbed it.
I saw that the arrow shot by Yao Long had a thumb-sized black wooden cube attached to it, which looked remarkably like Guiding Wood.
"Tch, unnecessary..." I scoffed at the Guiding Wood, intending to toss it aside. But in that fleeting moment, I noticed that numerous talismans were scattered across the ground around me. The arrangement of those talismans formed a perfect circle, resembling a magic array, with the White-Haired Old Man standing right in the center...
