Hearing the voice, I struggled to steady myself with the support of Death Apostle and Hu Fang. Looking up, I saw a figure in mid-air, wielding a spear, facing us with eyes radiating intense Killing Intent. At that moment, Gu Kai was no longer by his side; it seemed he had been knocked away.
"How could I let you go with such an important tool? Just stay here and witness the birth of the King of Hell!" With that, the spear in his hand gleamed coldly as he turned it towards me and lunged forward.
His attack was fierce, a gust of wind swirling behind him, causing his knee-length Long Robe to billow wildly. Seeing this, it was too late for me to evade; not only I but even Hu Fang and Death Apostle stood frozen in place, unsure of what to do.
In that Lightning Fast moment, a dark green light streaked past me, raising a cloud of dust that instinctively made all three of us shield our eyes with our hands.
"Still not giving up? Don't you understand the gap in our power?!"
"That's right; there is a gap in our power, but the one who doesn't understand is not me—it's you!" Gu Kai's voice rang out from a distance as he shouted. A gust of wind instantly dispersed the dust before us, and I realized I could no longer sense Gu Kai's power.
Looking up, I saw Sky Ancient Corpse standing before us, holding Black Soldier as a shield. Surrounding him was a dark green You Long, which did not seem to have originated from his Black Soldier but rather resembled the dragon conjured by Li Zhisheng's father after exhausting his strength.
I was taken aback. Was Gu Kai planning to use Li Zhisheng's father's method to take this person down with him?! At such close range, not only would the spear-wielding figure be caught in that terrifying power, but so would Hu Fang, Death Apostle, and I.
"Hey! Gu Kai, what are you doing?! Stop! We will die too!" I shouted anxiously at Gu Kai.
To my surprise, Gu Kai slowly turned his head. In the moonlight, I saw his handsome face break into a calm smile as he replied steadily, "It seems you’ve encountered this kind of power before, but perhaps you’ve misunderstood something?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Gu Kai leaned slightly forward and vanished from our sight in an instant. Before we could react, he reappeared right in front of the spear-wielding man.
With a loud clang, Gu Kai's Black Soldier collided with the man's spear once more, sparking a shower of flames.
The strike was immensely powerful; even I, standing on the ground, felt a wave of impact. The man wielding the spear no longer wore that confident expression; now, he struggled just to defend against Gu Kai's attack. Yet Gu Kai, with a relaxed demeanor, said, "I didn't want to use this power, but at this point, there's nothing left to hide. You brought this upon yourself!"
"Divine Envoy... is that you?!" The spear-wielding man seemed to recognize Gu Kai's power instantly. In that moment, panic washed over him, and it was evident that his spear trembled in his hands.
"Hmm? It seems you know my background. But what does it matter if you do? You had a chance to die more easily, but now it's too late!" With that, Gu Kai suddenly unleashed his fury. The blade of the Black Soldier erupted with streaks of dark green lightning, which instantly shattered the spear into two pieces upon contact.
Seeing this, the spear-wielding man hurriedly discarded his weapon and retreated sharply, trying to evade the lightning released from Gu Kai's sword.
But by then, Gu Kai had vanished without a trace. In an instant, he reappeared behind his opponent. With a flash of his sword, I barely caught a glimpse of Gu Kai's movement before the man was struck in the back and fell from the air.
"What terrifying power... If only I had received his help during the battle with Yang Master, perhaps Li Zhisheng's father and Haoyang wouldn't have..." Death Apostle stood by, dumbfounded and muttering.
"The dead are gone; there's no need to dwell on it..." Hu Fang comforted Death Apostle.
"Mm..." Death Apostle replied softly and nodded silently. I remained silent as well; this was not the time for such thoughts. I noticed that the one who called himself Void God did not fall after landing; instead, he steadied himself and charged straight toward us without a word.
I cursed under my breath, realizing he must be planning to take us three hostage! Thinking quickly, I urged Death Apostle and Hu Fang, "Quick! Scatter! Don't let him catch you!"
Upon hearing me, the three of us hurriedly dispersed in different directions. But at that moment, Gu Kai had already appeared in front of us. He stood calmly on the ground, watching as the charging figure approached.
"Do you still wish to struggle in vain?" With that, Gu Kai raised Black Soldier above his head with one hand and then brought his arm down. As his hand descended, Black Soldier sliced through the air like a blade, creating a powerful gust of wind that swept dust aside. Yet nothing else happened; the man who called himself Void God halted in his tracks and stood motionless.
"Wha—what happened..." I stopped running in shock and turned back to look. Just as I spoke those words, the ground began to tremble violently, accompanied by a thunderous roar.
As the sound echoed, I looked into the distance and saw a massive chasm opening up in the ground behind the person who called himself the Void God. The chasm was bottomless, stretching for several hundred meters, cleaving a mountain in half right behind him.
"This power... Gu Kai, is he a monster?!" I gasped, stuttering in disbelief at what I was witnessing.
The person who claimed to be the Void Spirit trembled slightly before splitting in two and collapsing to either side.
"What are you still doing here? Hurry and take your friends away," Gu Kai said as he turned around, sheathing the Black Soldier into an inconspicuous scabbard at his waist.
"Okay... okay, we're leaving now..." I quickly called over Hu Fang and Death Apostle, preparing to leave with them.
At that moment, Death Apostle and Hu Fang seemed equally startled by the earlier strike. Hu Fang stammered, "Is this... is this a movie? How could one sword split a mountain in half..."
"I wish everything were fake," I replied as we made our way toward the door that Gu Kai had destroyed.
