As we approached the main gate, I suddenly felt an unusual sensation behind me. I quickly turned to look back. The massive Red Magic Circle had not disappeared; in fact, it was now even brighter, and the lines on the ground within the formation appeared more vivid.
"Everyone is dead, so why hasn't it been dispelled?!" I glanced back in confusion and saw Gu Kai gripping the Black Soldier, which was already sheathed, with one hand. His right foot was slightly behind him, as if he were on guard against something within the formation.
Looking up, I noticed that dark clouds had already gathered in the sky. Lightning flashed within the clouds, completely obscuring the bright moon above, plunging the surroundings into utter darkness.
"Stop looking! We need to get out of here; it seems like something is about to happen..." Hu Fang tugged at my sleeve anxiously.
Just as Hu Fang finished speaking, there was a loud crack, and a bolt of lightning struck down from the sky, hitting the center of the magic circle and igniting a burst of electric light on the ground.
With the lightning striking the formation, the earth began to tremble once more. At that moment, I deeply sensed that something extremely terrifying was about to emerge from within that magic circle.
Fear gripped my heart. My already aching and exhausted body felt even more immobilized; I wanted to run, but my legs refused to obey.
At that moment, there was a thunderous roar as a gigantic arm reached out from the magic circle. With a resounding thud, it slammed onto the ground, causing even more violent tremors.
A foul wind spread from within the formation, carrying with it a stench reminiscent of decaying corpses piled high—a truly nauseating odor.
"Something is definitely coming out..." Death Apostle said with a trembling voice beside me. Although we all knew we should flee, curiosity compelled us to see what would emerge next. Personally, I was more interested in understanding just how powerful this entity capable of exterminating humanity truly was.
"We should really leave..." Hu Fang urged cautiously.
I replied calmly, "If what comes out is indeed this King of Hell, running won't help us. If humanity can be wiped out, where can we escape to? For now, we can only watch and see who is stronger—the King of Hell or Gu Kai!"
As I spoke, two enormous arms had already emerged from the magic circle. They were covered in blood that continuously dripped onto the ground and slowly seeped out from the formation.
Seeing this, Gu Kai tightened his grip on his sword with one hand. A cold light swept horizontally before him as a fierce wind erupted. The immense power released by his sword flattened distant houses and mountains in an instant without me even seeing it happen.
Yet even so, that strike seemed to have no effect on those two massive arms emerging from the formation; they remained unfazed and pushed against the ground before leaping up with a thunderous crash.
The moment it emerged was cataclysmic; not only did it kick up a massive cloud of dust and debris, but it also brought forth a torrent of bright red blood. Instantly, blood began to rain down from above, staining the ground crimson.
As I focused my gaze again, I saw a giant standing in the magic circle, nearly ten stories tall, covered in armor adorned with spikes, and with blood-red eyes.
"Is this the King of Hell you mentioned earlier?!" I exclaimed, wide-eyed, to Death Apostle beside me.
"How should I know?! This is my first time seeing it too..." Death Apostle replied, trembling in fear.
Meanwhile, Gu Kai, standing before the giant, gripped Black Soldier tightly and leaped up, instantly reaching the giant's head. Suddenly, he vanished into thin air, and then a flurry of sword shadows flashed across the giant's head as Gu Kai's attack struck its face like a torrential storm.
With Gu Kai's assault, only a portion of the giant's outer skin was sliced open, but it didn’t seem to suffer significant damage. However, this provoked the giant; it opened its massive mouth and roared at the sky.
The roar was deafening, echoing through the clouds and sending shivers down my spine.
Yet Gu Kai did not cease his attack; instead, he became even more ferocious, seemingly pouring all his strength into striking the giant.
After its roar, the giant slowly raised one arm and opened its enormous hand. In an instant, it came crashing down with incredible speed.
As its arm descended, Gu Kai, who had been attacking fiercely in mid-air, was suddenly struck. With a loud thud, he fell to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"How could this happen... Gu Kai's speed was so fast that it was almost invisible to the naked eye; how could it still hit him accurately..." I said in shock.
Looking through the dust cloud at Gu Kai, he seemed to have sustained only minor injuries. However, he did not intend to launch another fierce attack; instead, he stood still with Black Soldier, seemingly waiting for something.
Seeing this, the giant had no intention of giving Gu Kai any opportunity. It raised both arms high and clenched its fists before unleashing a barrage of punches aimed directly at Gu Kai's position.
Due to the sheer force of its attacks, each punch that struck the ground caused the earth to tremble. Initially, its punching speed was manageable; we could clearly see each blow. But soon enough, it began to accelerate its punches until we could no longer discern how it was throwing them.
Amidst the dizzying onslaught of giant fists, we could no longer see Gu Kai. At that moment, I found myself involuntarily worrying for him.
"Hey! Gu Kai!" I shouted at the top of my lungs.
As soon as the words left my mouth, the giant's fist suddenly came to a halt. I focused my gaze and saw a figure amidst the dust, gripping the giant's fist tightly, rendering it immobile.
A gust of wind blew through, dispersing the dust, and I finally recognized that it was Gu Kai, who had embedded a finger into the giant's fist, holding on firmly.
Looking at Gu Kai's sword-wielding hand, I noticed it was dripping with blood, suggesting that his arm had likely been broken by the giant's blow. Yet his palm still clung tightly to Black Soldier.
"Gu..." I leaned forward, wanting to rush in to help, but was firmly held back by Death Apostle beside me. He looked at me with a furrowed brow and shook his head. "You can't die yet. If you go now in your current state, you will undoubtedly perish."
Anxiety surged within me; if Gu Kai fell, wouldn't that mean our doom as well? I raised my voice slightly, "We can't just stand by and watch him die! If he dies, we..."
Before I could finish my sentence, Gu Kai, bloodied from afar, let out a disdainful laugh. "Watch me die? You must think too highly of me! It's just a mere King of Hell. Even if it's a god, anyone who stands in my way will be killed!"
Just as Gu Kai finished speaking, a woman's voice drifted from behind us. She said softly, "You're still the same; even at this moment, you want to show off..."
