As the seemingly insignificant Ancient Blade in Gu Kai's hand made contact with the Blood Blade wielded by Yama's Phantom, the Blood Blade instantly dissolved into a pool of congealed blood, falling from the air without causing Gu Kai even a scratch. 0

Seizing the opportunity, Gu Kai charged straight toward Yama's Phantom, raising the dark Ancient Blade high above his head and bringing it down directly onto Yama's Phantom's Spirit Cover, striking the ground with a thud. 0

With that strike from Gu Kai, something unusual began to happen to Yama's Phantom. A black line appeared in the center of its blood-red body, and soon after, numerous patterns identical to those on the Ancient Blade began to spread from that line, quickly covering Yama's Phantom entirely. 0

As those black patterns emerged, Yama's Phantom let out a series of howls and began to sink deeper into the magic circle. 0

Before long, Yama's Phantom was engulfed in its own struggles as it sank into the ground. The surrounding crimson magic circle shrank along with Yama's descent until it vanished from our sight. 0

At that moment, the absence of light from the magic circle plunged the surroundings into darkness. "What happened? Is it over?" Hu Fang asked, her voice trembling slightly as she pulled out her phone for illumination. 0

"I don't know; did we really just take down Yama's Phantom?" I replied, still shaken, straining my ears to listen for any sounds around us. But all was silent; I couldn't hear anything at all, as if nothing had happened moments ago. 0

"It hasn't been destroyed; I've merely sent it back to the Underworld. With my abilities, I can't kill it..." Gu Kai's voice came from the darkness. 0

Upon hearing this, Hu Fang quickly shone her phone light in that direction and saw Gu Kai covered in blood, his face adorned with patterns from the Ancient Blade. He stood before us, trembling as he held both the Ancient Blade and his own Black Soldier. 0

"Are you okay?!" I reached out to support him, but before my hand could touch him, he raised his hand and swatted mine away with a sharp "smack." 0

Then Gu Kai weakly said, "I'm fine; don't worry about me. You all need to leave..." He slowly lifted his hand and waved gently in mid-air, transforming into a swirl of dark green smoke that vanished before our eyes. 0

"Hey..." I tried to reach out and stop him from leaving, but my hand grasped only smoke; Gu Kai had already disappeared without a trace. 0

"Regardless, he saved our lives. I was planning to..." I sighed. 0

Beside me, Death Apostle patted my shoulder and said, "Forget it; it's just a matter of thanks. I don't think he cares much about that. Remember, he has his own stance; there are certainly things he can't disclose..." 0

"It’s not just about thanking him; I wanted to understand what exactly happened..." I lamented. It felt like his attitude toward me had improved just moments ago. Perhaps I could uncover some clues. "Sigh..." I thought to myself as I let out a long breath. 0

"Forget it. I think even if you ask him, he might not tell you. Let's just head back for now; staying out here in the wilderness for too long could lead to more dangers." 0

Hearing this, Death Apostle replied, "Yeah, let's hurry back..." But then she looked around with her phone and frowned, whispering, "But there are no cars around here, and Shen Xu is injured so badly. How are we supposed to get back..." 0

"I don't have any serious injuries, just some superficial wounds. The main issue is that I've overexerted myself and probably won't be able to use my strength for a while; otherwise, I would be dead by now..." I glanced around as well, and indeed, as Hu Fang said, we were in the middle of nowhere—there were no cars or even animals in sight. 0

Thinking about it, I took out my phone and saw that it was already past four in the morning. Although I felt a bit uneasy about calling at this hour, I dialed Meng Zhuang's number, hoping he could come pick us up. 0

After a moment, Meng Zhuang answered the call with his deep voice, "Hello? Shen? Why are you calling me so early? Is something wrong?" 0

His voice sounded quite alert; it seemed he wasn't just waking up. "Meng Zhuang, I've run into some trouble outside and can't get back. Could you come pick me up..." I described roughly where we were based on the route I had taken with Gu Kai and told him we were at an abandoned lumberyard. 0

After listening, Meng Zhuang paused for a moment as if recalling the route I mentioned. Finally, he replied, "I think I've been that way before. I'm currently on my way back from out of town and should arrive soon. Just wait for me; I'll hurry over." 0

With that, he hung up the phone. As he did, I thought I heard the sound of a car engine starting in the background. 0

I put my phone away and sat down with Hu Fang and Death Apostle near the factory entrance to rest while gazing up at the sky. 0

At this moment, the clouds had dispersed, and a bright moon hung in the sky with countless stars twinkling above us, leaving us three in a daze. 0

I don't know how much time passed; a faint red glow appeared on the horizon as the sun slowly rose from the skyline. With a roar of an engine, a black sedan pulled up in front of us. 0

The car door opened, and Meng Zhuang's robust figure squeezed out of the driver's seat. Upon seeing us covered in blood, he hurried over in three quick strides and gently helped me up while asking with concern, "Oh no! Shen! What happened to you all?!" 0

"It's a long story. Just take us home first..." 0

Upon hearing this, Meng Zhuang agreed and helped all three of us into the car before driving toward the city. 0

We three were so exhausted and hungry that we fell asleep shortly after starting the drive. 0

In my dreams, I felt someone gently nudging my shoulder a few times. I opened my eyes, but the sunlight streaming through the windshield was so bright that I quickly shut them again. 0

"Are we there yet?" I asked groggily, rubbing my eyes. 0

From the driver's seat, Meng Zhuang replied, "Not yet. I saw that you all seemed pretty hurt, so I decided to take you to the hospital first. Shen, are you okay?" 0

I looked out the window and saw that we were now parked outside City Hospital, a bright red cross visible in front of me. 0

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said. Turning around, I glanced at the back seat where Death Apostle and Hu Fang were still fast asleep. I reached out and gently shook them awake, whispering, "Hu Fang, Death Apostle, wake up." 0

As they stirred awake, I explained the situation to them. Once we were all on the same page, we got out of the car and entered the hospital together. I didn’t want to hold Meng Zhuang up any longer, so I let him leave first. 0
