"That's fine, after all, it's no longer safe here. Staying any longer might be disadvantageous for us. Let's make sure to take everything we need before we leave," Li Zhisheng said.
"Yeah, I'll remember to bring it..." I replied. We then discussed some related schedule arrangements and ultimately set the departure date for three days later.
With the date confirmed and seeing that it was getting late, everyone went back to their rooms to rest.
Lying in bed, I couldn't shake off a vague sense of unease. I took out my phone to check it, only to find that it had run out of battery and was currently turned off.
"Forget it, I'll deal with it later," I muttered to myself as I plugged the phone into the charger and tossed it onto the pillow before drifting off to sleep.
The next morning, I woke up early. After a quick breakfast, I headed out alone to buy some daily necessities for our trip.
After a round of shopping, I returned home around ten in the afternoon. By then, Hu Fang and Li Zhisheng were already awake. They were busy packing things up with Death Apostle, while Yao Long was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did Yao Long go?" I asked, looking at the three of them who were bustling about.
Death Apostle had very few items—just a few changes of clothes and toiletries—so packing was quite easy for him. As he stuffed his clothes into a luggage bag, he replied, "Yao Long went out to buy things too; he should be back soon."
I nodded in response and went back to my room to organize my own belongings.
While packing, I deliberately thought about including the Divine Anomalies Classic: Nine Star Life and Death Diagram and the Sheepskin Book used for recording ghost elimination marks, along with those two empty Wooden Boxes into my backpack. After that, I picked up Jiang Ling and hid it deep within the bag.
Once everything was sorted out, I was about to head out to check on Hu Fang and the others when my eyes caught sight of the black dagger resting on my bedside table. Ever since I brought it back yesterday, it had been sitting there.
I picked up the dagger and weighed it in my hand, thinking, "Both Yao Long and I have weapons now. Should I give this dagger to someone else? Li Zhisheng and Hu Fang are capable, but Death Apostle isn't... maybe I should give it to Death Apostle?"
"That doesn't seem right either; Death Apostle lacks combat ability. Holding this dagger would be like having an ordinary knife—he wouldn't be able to use it effectively... Forget it; Hu Fang has an unstable Void Spirit inside her; maybe I should just give it to her..."
I muttered to myself as I stepped outside. Just then, I bumped into Hu Fang, who had just finished organizing her things and walked out of her room. "All set?" I asked.
Hu Fang nodded.
I handed her the dagger and said, "Take this for self-defense."
"But I don't know how to use it! You might as well give it to Li Zhisheng or someone else," Hu Fang protested.
"You need to take it! It's dangerous for a girl like you to go out without something for protection!" With that, I firmly pressed the dagger into Hu Fang's hand.
"You're still concerned about me," she said, taking the dagger and giving me a slight smile.
I wasn't sure if it was because I hadn't seen her smile in a long time, but seeing it now made my mood instantly lift.
"Of course, if I don't care about you, who will? Now that you're done organizing, help me think about what we should have for dinner. I'm going to check if Yao Long is back."
As soon as I finished speaking, I heard the sound of the door opening and closing. "I'm back," Yao Long said as he walked in.
Hearing his voice, I went to the living room to check. I saw Yao Long holding a brown cloth bag, and I couldn't tell what was inside. He walked straight over to Death Apostle and handed the bag to him.
"Did you get discovered?" Death Apostle asked.
"Discovered? What are you two conspiring about?" I asked as I approached.
"Nothing much. I just remembered there were some talismans and a bit of Ghost Oil left at the villa we used to stay in, so I had Yao Long pick them up. They might come in handy," he replied.
"You really think ahead," I praised.
After a flurry of activity, everyone finally finished organizing the luggage. After dinner, the clock on the wall pointed to eleven at night.
Noticing it was getting late and everyone was tired, they all went to rest early.
Thus, we had been busy for two days and finally left the rental house on the morning of the third day, boarding a plane bound for Guiyang.
Upon arriving at our destination, the five of us found a place to stay and then grabbed something to eat before asking the restaurant staff where we could find copper mirrors nearby.
The staff member told us he had never heard of any place nearby that produced copperware or sold copper mirrors; he only mentioned that there were many shops selling silverware around.
Seeing that the restaurant staff was uninformed, we left and asked several other people along the way. We even went into a silverware shop to inquire but came up empty-handed. The only one who made a purchase was Hu Fang; she bought some jewelry while browsing in the silver shop.
With no leads from our inquiries, we returned to the hotel to discuss what to do next.
At that moment, Li Zhisheng suggested, "If it really comes down to it, why don't we rent a car and ask along the way? It might take some time, but we could pass through some remote villages where this information might be hidden."
After hearing this, I thought Li Zhisheng had a point. After all, many of the things we had discovered before and those hidden masters seemed to be located in inconspicuous villages.
With that in mind, we discussed further and decided to follow Li Zhisheng's suggestion and rent a car while asking questions along the way. However, since we had spent an entire afternoon gathering information and night had already fallen, there were no car rental places open. We had no choice but to wait until tomorrow.
After a night of silence and a good rest, we checked out and found a seemingly decent car rental agency nearby. We rented a large displacement SUV and set off on our search.
At first, Hu Fang was lively and eagerly looking around, finding everything interesting and chatting with us non-stop.
However, after about an hour of driving, she gradually lost her energy and dozed off in the back seat.
I was driving while Yao Long sat in the passenger seat, ready to take over whenever needed.
Along the way, we inquired about our route and discovered that we were heading towards Zunyi, with about an hour left to reach our destination.
The person we asked for directions mentioned something strange since we were from out of town. He told us that there is a Time Tunnel in Zunyi, which supposedly causes time to flow backward while passing through it, but once you leave, time returns to normal.
