Seeing Yao Long's doubts, I pressed on, "But what?"
He thought for a moment and replied, "But what if you're wrong? Wouldn't that mean you'd be stuck as a useless person forever?"
After hearing him finish that sentence with a furrowed brow, I let out a long sigh, feeling somewhat helpless. "My condition is already a reality. Even if I don't want it to be, it has happened. There's no point in wallowing in sorrow or pity; instead, I should look for ways to cope... Even if I can't heal myself, I must find a way to protect you all!"
At that moment, Yao Long by the bedside seemed hesitant to speak. He opened his mouth as if to say something but seemed to swallow it back.
After a brief silence, Yao Long and I exchanged glances. I was about to suggest he go rest and keep an eye on Yang Master’s movements. However, he spoke up first: "During the time you’re not recovered, I will stay here to protect you."
I smiled slightly. "Don't worry; from the current situation, they shouldn't do anything to me. If they wanted to take action, the Sun Warrior Leader could have done so long ago without all this trouble. This also gives me a chance to see what they really want. As for you, I need your help with something..."
"What is it?!" Yao Long asked urgently.
I thought for a moment and deliberately lowered my voice. "Although Er Ye has taken my position now, I don't think he'll give up easily. Help me monitor his actions and see what his true intentions are."
After I finished speaking, Yao Long didn't immediately agree; instead, he appeared somewhat hesitant.
After a moment of contemplation, he finally said, "If I die, I'll leave Mr. Death in your hands..." His tone was heavy, almost like he was delivering a final farewell.
I was taken aback and felt quite puzzled. "Yao Long, are you misunderstanding? I'm just asking you to keep an eye on him; I'm not sending you to kill him."
Yao Long replied, "I know you're just asking me to monitor him, but while you were unconscious, I inadvertently discovered something..."
"Quickly!" I urged anxiously.
Yao Long took a moment to gather his thoughts and said, "When we escaped from the Underworld, you were unconscious and unaware of everything that happened. However, I saw something that shocked me... Er Ye actually took advantage of the Sun Warrior Leader's weakness at that time and injured him."
“What?!” A chill ran through me, and I suddenly felt that the situation was far more complicated than I had thought. However, I didn’t interrupt immediately; instead, I let Yao Long continue.
“In fact, the injury on Sun Warrior Leader’s arm wasn’t caused in the Underworld. Think about it—if he had already sustained a serious injury in the Underworld, how could he have carried you back? “What did you see?”
Yao Long shuddered at the memory. “He personally killed his own wife and their few-month-old child… I’m not entirely sure of the specifics; all I saw was him committing murder. Later, I overheard his subordinates discussing that those two were his wife and child.”
Hearing this left me in disbelief. “That’s impossible! Even a tiger doesn’t eat its own cubs! Surely someone must be spreading rumors; those two couldn’t possibly be Er Ye’s family.”
Yao Long shook his head. “It shouldn’t be wrong; after all, it wasn’t just one or two people saying this. If you get the chance, you can ask those Yang Masters yourself; nearly everyone agrees that they were Er Ye’s wife and child. That’s why I’m worried—if I go to monitor him and get discovered with my current strength, it would surely be a one-way trip for me. But since you’ve asked for my help…”
“No, no need!” I hurriedly interrupted Yao Long.

Upon hearing my words, Yao Long seemed to suddenly remember something, and realization dawned on him. "That's right! How did I not notice this before? If the Sun Warrior Leader had lost the Void Spirit's power after using that move, Fiery Annihilation, then he should have been reduced to a pile of bones in the Underworld. Yet he returned unscathed."
After listening to Yao Long's analysis, it seemed we were on the same wavelength. I spoke to him in a serious tone. "If I'm correct, Er Ye might have known about the Sun Warrior Leader's situation all along. The act we just put on was likely not for Er Ye's benefit but rather for the Sun Warrior Leader to perform for us."
"Why would they do that?" Yao Long asked, puzzled.
"I don't know what their ultimate goal is, but one thing is certain: the Sun Warrior Leader's intention is to make me believe that he has indeed lost all his powers and become an ordinary person."
I thought to myself, no wonder I felt something was off while helping the Sun Warrior Leader with his act earlier. Thankfully, Yao Long informed me in time; otherwise, I would have been deceived by them for much longer.
However, even though I understood that the Sun Warrior Leader had not lost his powers, I still didn't grasp how he managed to do it. That strike in the Underworld was clearly Fiery Annihilation...
