Professor R reluctantly drafted a plan to withdraw the members of the Fourth Group under Mr. C's coercion. 0

Just half an hour ago, Numbers 1, 3, 4, and 5 suddenly fell out of his control, losing track of their targets. As they carefully searched for the reasons behind this, they discovered a careless mistake in their operations. One member of the Fourth Group had forgotten to install the chip. Coupled with the earlier scene where Number 1 slaughtered the Living Dead, many present felt an unprecedented sense of dread. 0

Mr. C's face turned ashen as he angrily demanded, " Professor R, how do you explain all of this? It's like a game where the protagonist dominates and kills all the characters entering the game in a short time—doesn't that mean the game is doomed?" 0

Sweat beaded on Professor R's shiny forehead, with no time to wipe it away. He raised his head and met Mr. C's gaze directly. "How do you know that Number 1 won't encounter an opponent stronger than him? Besides, their mission isn't complete yet; what Nano Monitor saw is only a part of the picture. Staying at the DBL6 research base for an extended period is not as simple as you think." 0

Having intended to provoke Professor R, Mr. C found himself countered by his words. Lacking confidence, he resorted to his lowest tactics. "Give me Number 1's data," he reiterated aggressively. 0

Professor R was cunning and had seen countless people. Could Mr. C's inner thoughts escape his keen observation? 0

The ambitious father was ruthless, and his son was no better. In Mr. C's dark heart, he sought not only to obtain Number 1's data effortlessly but also harbored ulterior motives. With strong offensive capabilities, Number 1 could become a top assassin in the future. 0

"If you insist on having me withdraw members from the Fourth Group, I won't oppose it. However, asking for Number 1's data is quite another matter; I'm afraid I cannot comply," Professor R said, suppressing his anger before turning to leave. 0

On the screen appeared the situation regarding the Fifth Team's deployment... 0

The Fifth Team was under Mr. C's supervision at the DBL6 research base, with Ms. B as his assistant. 0

This directive came after Professor R refused to withdraw members from the Fourth Group and was issued by the highest executive officer. However, there were other tasks arranged for Professor R —essentially a disguised reassignment. 0

Under Mr. C's watchful eye, the Fifth Team arrived at the lake as scheduled. It was now 3:15 PM; since the war ended, the desolate land lay in bleakness. Even the sun seemed timid and weak, pressed beneath heavy clouds. The clouds blocked out the light behind them, casting a golden edge on them while turning the earth into a vast gray expanse. In this dimness, it felt as if tiny humans were trapped in an unending nightmare, making it hard to breathe and creating an overwhelming sense of oppression. 0

The shimmering surface of the lake captivated the members of the Fifth Team. All their previous frustrations and weariness vanished in an instant. The sparkling lake resembled a mirror, and as a gentle breeze swept across, ripples danced upon its surface. 0

The members of the Fifth Team erupted in joy, chattering excitedly and pointing at various sights. Having suddenly emerged from the dull Stratum into a world that belonged to humanity, they marveled at the vastness of the lake, feeling completely enchanted by the boundless beauty of nature. 0

As Mr. C had anticipated, no one from the Fourth Group came to greet the Fifth Team upon their arrival at the DBL6 experimental base. They had brought their own C-5 atomic hovercraft, known for its simple and durable structure. Onboard was a large fan that continuously blew air beneath the craft, allowing it to lift off entirely from the water's surface. This design meant that while traveling, the craft faced no water resistance, enabling it to glide swiftly as if flying. 0

If the members of the Fifth Team simply sat in the atomic hovercraft, they would safely reach the opposite shore. However, fate had other plans. As they reached the center of the lake, one of the girls turned to her companions and said, "Look at this tranquil lake; doesn't it resemble a gentle lady?" 0

Coincidentally, she was also the leader of the Fifth Team. The rest were four boys, one of whom was particularly withdrawn and quiet. This boy harbored deep-seated insecurities; his head hung low, his eyes filled with an inscrutable depth as he stared intently at the seemingly calm surface of the lake. 0

The others paid little attention to her words, too focused on teasing the Inferior Boy. 0

Water is like Earth's lifeblood; like all living things, without water, Earth would wither! Water is also an essential resource that humans feel deeply connected to. So when the atomic hovercraft soared above the lake, the team leader suddenly felt inspired and lowered their craft to maintain a half-meter distance from the water's surface, reaching out to touch it. 0

The despondent boy sensed his companions' mockery. Turning to them, he asked, "What are you talking about?" He longed to fit in but felt their strange gazes upon him. 0

"We're talking about Alpaca!" they laughed heartily. 0

As their laughter echoed around them, the girl who had reached out to playfully touch the water let out a piercing scream. Almost simultaneously, the Inferior Boy reached out to grab her. The others who were joking around suddenly panicked as they witnessed something horrifying: within moments, terrifying insects crawled all over her body and face... The moment she touched the water's surface, they swarmed up her arm and rapidly spread across her entire body. 0

The small hovercraft lost its balance as they huddled together in fear... The girl screamed in sheer terror while frantically clawing at her body where sticky, writhing insects covered her skin... 0

Except for the Inferior Boy who tried to help her, everyone else cowered in fear at one corner of the craft, too scared to approach... The unbalanced atomic hovercraft let out a loud splash as both people and vessel plunged into the lake... 0

The Core Headquarters, which controls the seeds, also witnessed this incredibly shocking scene on the screen. Mr. C zoomed in and magnified the image, astonished to see that the writhing creatures were a hybrid of Bloodworm and another mutated organism. 0

Watching helplessly as the atomic hovercraft sank into the lake along with the members of Fifth Team, Mr. C lost his composure and shouted incoherently, "Quick, hurry and call Professor R..." 0

Stratum was perpetually shrouded in shades of gray and black. The atmosphere was lifeless, with people wandering the eternally damp streets like homeless ghosts. 0

In a dimly lit bar, the somewhat intimidating bartender—snub-nosed, with bulging fish-like eyes and a face full of excess flesh—busied himself attending to the few patrons. The bar was a place for men and women to drown their sorrows! Professor R sat in the least conspicuous corner, knowing that alcohol was a good thing; it could help him forget his inner turmoil after getting thoroughly drunk. 0

With a fiery shot of liquor down his throat, he squinted through the glass window with his bleary old eyes. Suddenly, a shifty-looking fellow appeared at the door, glancing around as if searching for someone. 0

Upon seeing this person, Professor R felt a jolt of surprise, an inexplicable pang of pain tugging at his heart. 0
