Xiao Qiang pushed off the ground, his body launching forward with incredible speed. He raised his hand, and with a whoosh, the cold blade of a dagger sliced through the air, tracing a polygonal arc. The Little Skeleton Mutant stared blankly at the dagger flying toward it, showing no intention of dodging.
The dagger shot out as Xiao Qiang had already pounced next to Old Eye Mask. At the same time, from behind the Little Skeleton Mutant, a pair of pale, skeletal hands reached out and scooped up the Little Skeleton Mutant, pulling it away to safety.
The spinning dagger struck true, embedding itself firmly into the leg of another large Skeleton Mutant that had rushed in to protect the Little Skeleton Mutant.
Behind Xiao Qiang, Wen Kai leaped forward at the sound.
He raised the Steel Bar in his hands and thrust it diagonally toward the Skeleton Mutant that lunged unexpectedly at Xiao Qiang.
The Skeleton Mutant, confident it could easily kill Xiao Qiang, was caught completely off guard by Wen Kai's sudden attack from behind. It had no time to evade and was thoroughly pierced through.
Xiao Qiang helped Old Eye Mask retreat, trying to stem the flow of blood gushing from his mouth, getting his hands covered in it.
Wen Kai lifted the impaled Skeleton Mutant on his Steel Bar and slammed it hard against the pipe—detaching it from the Steel Bar before it even had a chance to struggle, leading to its demise.
Looking around for the Little Skeleton Mutant, it had long since fled without a trace.
Fearing Wen Kai would pursue, Xiao Qiang shouted at him, "Don't chase after a desperate enemy!"
Old Eye Mask seemed to be beyond saving; blood poured out like a spring from his chest. His single eye lost its fierce glint, replaced by despair and unwillingness.
The dagger had plunged deep into his heart, delivered by the Little Skeleton Mutant that had stealthily jumped down from the pipe when Old Eye Mask was distracted.
Wen Kai stood guard, scanning vigilantly in all directions.
Old Eye Mask could not move; he struggled to open his eyes and looked at Xiao Qiang as he leaned closer to whisper in his ear: "Reincarnation Card Key, Skeleton Mutant, Unknown Space, save... Nano Immortal Robot..." Just as he reached this crucial point, the single eye that had been fixed on Xiao Qiang's neck where the Chain lay dimmed momentarily before his pupils dilated. His head tilted to one side as he breathed his last.
"What did he say?"
"He said..." Xiao Qiang furrowed his brow, momentarily taken aback, then shook his head ambiguously and replied, "I didn't hear clearly." Though he said this, his mind was racing with thoughts: Reincarnation Card Key, Unknown Space, Nano Immortal Robot? What on earth are those?
"What about him?" Wen Kai was referring to the corpse of Old Eye Mask.
Nodding, Xiao Qiang replied, "Take him back for cremation." As he spoke, he carefully scanned the surroundings again, feeling that something was off yet unable to pinpoint what it was. Finally, with Wen Kai's assistance, he hoisted Old Eye Mask onto his back and prepared to return to the control room.
The control room was empty, devoid of any presence. This surprised both Wen Kai and Xiao Qiang...
They meticulously checked their surroundings and noticed a pungent smell of incendiary devices in the air, but there were no signs of casualties.
Xiao Qiang's gaze eventually landed on the sleep pod, where he found Li Hang in Pod 02. He had been trapped inside for two hours, appearing as lifeless as a corpse—his body stiff and his face ashen.
The low temperature had affected the enzyme activity in his body, which could ultimately lead to death; this was basic medical knowledge that Wu Yi should have known. Fortunately, the cooling energy hadn't been activated; otherwise, Li Hang would have been done for.
Something was definitely amiss. Upon closer inspection, they noticed a blood blister on the back of Li Hang's head and traces of blood on his neck. A quick check revealed a strong pulse in his carotid artery, bringing immense relief to both of them.
Next came the need for a detailed analysis of the situation at hand. Xiao Qiang reasoned that if they had been attacked by Skeleton Mutants, Li Hang wouldn't have sought refuge in the sleep pod, and there were no signs of a struggle with Skeleton Mutants at the scene. The most logical conclusion was that Wu Yi was behind all this.
"Wu Yi, that little brat! Just wait until I catch him; I'll give him a good beating," Wen Kai fumed, his face flushed with anger as he paced back and forth anxiously.
Xiao Qiang stared at him for two seconds in silence before reaching down to touch the still-wet blood on Old Eye Mask's chest. He quickly stepped closer to Wen Kai and smeared some of it across his face when he wasn't paying attention.
"What are you doing?" Wen Kai exclaimed in shock, his eyes wide as he questioned him.
"Can you smell the Blood Stench?"
"Ah," Wen Kai nodded eagerly.
"If you can smell it, then there's no problem. If you can't even detect the Blood Stench, you need to get out to the corridor immediately."
"What's going on?"
"The control room has a problem. There's a nearly invisible toxin that, once it enters the brain, can easily disrupt a person's mind. This can lead to extreme actions. If I'm not mistaken, Wu Yi is one of the victims; he harmed Li Hang while losing his sanity." After analyzing the situation, Xiao Qiang's gaze returned to the ground near the Gate, where two distinct tire tracks were visible.
After Xiao Qiang wiped some blood on Wen Kai, his mind suddenly cleared. The feeling of restlessness vanished as he crouched down to support Li Hang, shielding him with his body.
Xiao Qiang turned to Wen Kai and asked, "Did Amy and Lin Yu come by?"
"They shouldn't have. If they did, why wouldn't we know about it?"
"Don't forget, our watches lost connection just now."
"So... where would they go?"
"Wait here and take care of Li Hang. I'll try to contact them."

Amy moved slowly and encountered a Little Skeleton Mutant at a corner.
The Little Skeleton Mutant had run over from another place, having witnessed the protection of the Mutant being killed by humans. There was no sadness or pain, only an instinct to run. It moved like a monkey, climbing up and down, navigating the pipes as if they were solid ground.
Amy swung her clawed arm, shouting Lin Yu's name while sliding forward.
The Little Skeleton Mutant crouched on the pipe, observing this creature that was neither fully human nor a member of its Mutant family. It sat quietly, watching intently, finding it amusing that this monster could make sounds. With a leap, it jumped down from the pipe and curiously stared at Amy.
Activating her scanner, Amy quickly realized that the obstacle in her path was the Tough Guy Training Ground, where a Skeleton Mutant had not yet been completely eliminated. She adjusted her wheels and stopped calling out for Lin Yu, intending to slip past the Skeleton Mutant.
Children love toys, and the Little Skeleton Mutant had sneaked out in search of something fun because it found its own playmates uninteresting. However, it did not expect to encounter humans. Up close, it could smell the warmth of sweat emanating from their bodies and the enticing scent of fresh blood; it desperately wanted to taste it.
Just as it had stolen a dagger from the human who had looked down at it, intending to slice his throat, two larger humans appeared and took that person away.
Reluctantly, the Little Skeleton Mutant followed stealthily until it finally succeeded. Yet before it could drink any blood, another family member blocked its way.
That brutal family member was ultimately killed by humans. Faced with two seemingly fierce humans, the Little Skeleton Mutant had no choice but to flee. And so, it encountered Amy.
The Little Skeleton Mutant extended its thin, cold arm to block Amy's path, preventing her from leaving.
