Lin Yu was running, stopping occasionally to listen—she felt there was some movement behind her. Was it Amy? Or Wu Yi? After running for a while and stopping again, she finally saw clearly that the one stealthily following her was neither Amy nor Wu Yi. Instead, it was a terrifying humanoid monster. 0

This monster resembled the skeleton sitting in the chair inside the spaceship, but the difference was that the skeleton before her had a thin layer of skin covering its bones. The skin was pale and translucent, with dark veins clearly visible. In its hollow eye sockets, eyeballs rolled around erratically, and there was also a layer of skin covering its facial bones, distorting its features into something grotesque... The more she looked, the more her heart raced with fear. 0

The Skeleton Mutant sniffed the air, seemingly trying to discern whether the scent was male or female. Once it confirmed that it was female, the Skeleton Mutant let out an excited shriek and darted towards Lin Yu at incredible speed. 0

Lin Yu couldn't discern much when the Skeleton Mutant remained still. 0

Just as it lunged at her like an arrow, a pair of bat-like wings spread open. It startled her—oh my god, what is this creature? Not only was it hideously ugly, but it also had wings? 0

There’s an old saying: if you can fight, fight; if you can’t win, run. Lin Yu hadn’t fully grasped what Amy had hinted about energy yet, and facing such a monstrous being left her feeling unprepared. There was only one option—run! 0

She ran for her life, squeezing through any gaps and sprinting down any path she could find. She ran until she was dizzy and disoriented—at that moment, she felt like a mouse fleeing from an eagle's claws. If she wasn’t alert and nimble, she would become prey beneath those claws. 0

Fortunately, the corridor was narrow; perhaps the Skeleton Mutant had just evolved. It couldn’t yet control its wings with precision while chasing Lin Yu, often bumping into pipes and making loud noises that sounded like a soda can being kicked down the corridor. 0

Lin Yu hadn’t witnessed the Skeleton Mutant devouring its own kind, so she didn’t know what type of mutant creature this was. In any case, it was her first time seeing something even more terrifying than a Living Dead. 0

Without Amy by her side, it felt like losing an eye. She felt a bit panicked and scared—so scared that she forgot to cry. Was this what that damned Tough Guy Training was about? Who was controlling these monsters? As Lin Yu ran, her thoughts spiraled out of control; it seemed unhelpful to dwell on them. She could only focus on escaping. 0

It was getting closer; she could even feel the wind from its wings. The close pursuit sent chills down her spine; everything happening felt like a nightmare yet so real. 0

Climbing higher? No way—she couldn’t continue running against a Skeleton Mutant with wings. Overwhelmed by fear, she crouched down like a mouse and squeezed herself into a seemingly narrow vent that the Skeleton Mutant shouldn’t be able to enter. 0

On all fours, Lin Yu crouched by the vent, questioning herself why she had run. She raised her left hand in confusion, then lowered it, glancing at her right hand and shaking her head in silence. She understood the reason for her escape: she had no weapon. 0

Holding her breath, she still caught a whiff of a putrid smell wafting from the vent that made her want to gag. She strained her eyes to adapt to the darkness inside the vent, trying to discern the source of that foul odor. 0

Inside the vent, there was a steel wire filter. After a stretch of darkness, she could see the filter. Looking down, everything seemed quiet below; she wondered if that Skeleton Mutant was lurking nearby, waiting for her to show herself. 0

Crawling on her elbows and knees felt almost primal. It embarrassed Lin Yu somewhat as she moved closer to the filter, where a pile of dark objects came into view just a foot away from her line of sight. 0

The source of the rotten smell emanated from that pile of dark matter. Lin Yu cautiously approached it. When she reached out to touch it, her fingers encountered something sticky and slimy, an uncomfortable sensation. 0

Despite the unpleasantness, she felt a glimmer of hope when her hand brushed against something hard. In the darkness, she couldn't tell what kind of knife it was, but having a weapon boosted her courage immensely. 0

Lin Yu lifted her head and tossed aside the hair covering her face, revealing two bright eyes. Retracing her steps, she prepared to use the weapon in her hand against that enormous creature. 0

As she emerged from the vent, it seemed that the creature could no longer wait for her; it had already moved on. Instinctively raising her hand to inspect the knife, she discovered it was a rusty kitchen knife. The rust didn’t matter much; what concerned her was that the blade was dull and chipped. The stench clung to her hand from whatever she had touched in the dark. Switching hands to grip the knife better, she wiped it on her pant leg and sniffed again; the odor stubbornly lingered. 0

Let it be! Right now, survival was all that mattered. She needed to find Xiao Qiang. The thought of Xiao Qiang made Lin Yu smile bitterly, a pang of sadness hitting her nose. Taking a moment to steady herself, she chuckled inwardly; thankfully that thing wasn’t around. Otherwise, with this kitchen knife, what were her chances? Just as those thoughts swirled in her mind, a scream echoed nearby. 0

"Damn it." The scream jolted her awake. Regaining focus, she carefully pinpointed the sound's origin and ran in the opposite direction! Running like this wasn’t sustainable; it would be embarrassing if she ever had to explain it later. After a few steps, Lin Yu suddenly turned around to face the charging creature head-on—her knife clattering to the ground as she stood firm. 0

She felt detached from everything around her as if time had slowed down. A latent power surged through every pore of her body. 0

Though there was no wind, her hair danced as if lifted by an unseen force... Her body felt weightless, as if buoyed by air currents charged with lethal intent rushing toward her—every breath brought with it a wave of sour decay— 0

Lin Yu's eyes flew open wide, radiating an energy capable of tearing through anything. The Skeleton Mutant, unable to evade in time, let out a piercing wail as if struck by an invisible bone-slicing knife. In an instant, its skeletal frame and massive Wings were shredded apart like they were made of soft clay. 0

She slowly retracted her form, hanging in mid-air before gently landing on the ground. Her gaze shifted to a foul-smelling pile of rotten flesh and blood just half a foot away. It was hard to believe that all of this had just happened, and that she had killed such a fierce creature without even using that curved knife. 0

Was this what energy was? Lin Yu instinctively looked at her palm. A surprising memory surfaced in her mind from her childhood. She and Xiao Qiang had been seen as anomalies, subjected to the ridicule of many who threw eggs at them. 0

Little Xiao Qiang had been terrified, clutching her head and crying, while Lin Yu fearlessly stepped forward and shouted at the troublemakers—then there was a loud bang, like an explosion, and the surrounding glass shattered into pieces! 0

That time, Lin Yu had been locked in a small dark room, with only the food Xiao Qiang managed to slip through the door crack. 0
