Originally poised to unleash her power, Lin Yu relaxed her tense guard and subtly loosened her grip upon realizing this being did not belong to the Skeleton Mutant.
"Who are you?"
At her inquiry, the creature's lips moved, producing an unusually hoarse and aged voice that was slow and somewhat unclear. "Ah ah..."
Half-mute? Lin Yu hesitated, frowning slightly. She took a few cautious steps closer before stopping again, staring intently at it. "What is your name? Where do you come from?"
"Ah ah..." Asking was futile; it only repeated the same sound.
"Alright, you don’t need to answer. I’ll ask questions, just nod or shake your head, okay?"
The strange man nodded, his expression tense as he glanced nervously elsewhere, appearing somewhat anxious and distracted. When he noticed Lin Yu watching him, he hurriedly gestured, indicating she should follow him.
"Follow you? Oh no~ I still have things to do; I need to find someone." Lin Yu gestured back, hoping he would understand.
The odd man continued to make his "ah ah" sounds while gesturing...
Suddenly, Lin Yu understood; he was indicating that the two people she was looking for were in his territory.
To avoid any mistakes, she patiently gestured the appearances and heights of Xiao Qiang and Wen Kai.
This gesture seemed to confirm that they were indeed with him, as the Strange Man nodded vigorously. Without a hint of doubt, Lin Yu followed him.
Navigating through a maze-like series of passages, Lin Yu lost track of direction and time. Eventually, they stopped outside what resembled a high iron gate akin to a fortress wall. If she wasn’t mistaken, this should be a large cargo storage area.
As she looked up in awe, she was suddenly shoved hard by the man standing beside her... As she stumbled into an open area resembling a courtyard, Lin Yu's heart sank; she realized she had been tricked—too late now.
Looking around, the Weird Man had vanished without a trace. The surroundings were barren and smooth like steep walls of a giant funnel. Cold sweat broke out on Lin Yu's forehead as she turned back toward the entrance; it looked identical to the walls surrounding her—there was no way to tell which part was the exit. She pushed against each section with all her strength... but it was in vain!
This place felt like an ancient castle with walls as solid as bronze and iron; they were steep all around and impossible to climb. Unable to ascend or escape, Lin Yu cursed herself inwardly for being so foolish! How could she have been deceived by someone's appearance? She thought encountering another human in such a place would be fortunate but ended up meeting one of humanity's dregs!
Lin Yu considered using her Ability, but regardless of how she tried to unleash her psychic energy, she couldn't activate the invisible door hidden within the walls.
After exerting himself several times, Lin Yu felt as if he had nearly exhausted all his energy, his body weak and drowsy. Just then, above him, at the top of the enclosure, appeared the Strange Man.
A delicious aroma wafted through the air. Lin Yu swallowed hard, his stomach betraying him with a loud growl.
The Strange Man, wearing a bizarre grin, leaned over to look at Lin Yu, who was slumped against the wall of the enclosure. "My dear, don't be anxious. You can stay here comfortably; it's very safe. I've been here for decades, so don't worry! No monsters will come in to eat you."
"Who are you? Why are you pretending to be deaf and dumb to deceive me?"
"It doesn't matter who I am; what's important is that you're safe now, and you should thank me," the man shamelessly replied. As he spoke, it sounded like he was chewing on something with great enjoyment.
"You liar! How could I possibly thank you?" Lin Yu retorted angrily. He felt helpless and a bit cold.
"If it weren't for that, would you have obediently come in with me?"
"You tricked me into coming in here; what do you want?"
"I want a son."
"What does wanting a son have to do with me?"
"Of course it does! It's only natural for a woman to bear children. Am I supposed to give birth myself?"
"You truly have no shame..." Lin Yu felt both embarrassed and furious, wishing he could tear this man's mouth apart.
"My dear, are you hungry? Stop bickering with me. Even if we were to argue, you'd need some strength for that, right? I have some delicious food here; why not try the chef's cooking skills?"
"You're the chef?"
"Yes."
"Who did you come in with?"
"I'm old; I can't remember. Here, let me bring you a jar of meat soup for you to savor."
"Meat soup? How could there possibly be pork here?" Lin Yu thought skeptically, but he couldn't endure the hunger any longer and genuinely wanted to see what kind of meat soup this man was offering.
The Weird Man seemed to be guessing Lin Yu's thoughts. As he lowered the steaming pot, he added, "Don't worry, you're the mother of my child; I won't harm you."
Lin Yu secretly spat in disdain, glaring angrily at the shameless Weird Man. She shifted her gaze to the pot that had been lowered, a nauseatingly rich meat aroma increasingly tempting her senses. Swallowing a mouthful of saliva, she stared intently at the pot. The soup inside was pale and devoid of meat...
Xiao Qiang and Wen Kai were currently engaged in a battle with the Skeleton Mutant at an unknown location. Li Hang and Wu Yi were waiting at Ground, unaware of their current situation. The only way out was to save herself; she had no choice but to take the risk and drink from this pot of soup made from unknown ingredients. She absolutely refused to believe it was pork soup; it could very well be broth made from rats caught by this man.
In special circumstances, as long as it could fill her stomach, regardless of whether it was cockroaches or rats, it could stave off hunger... but only if these creatures had not been infected by Mutant elements. However, judging by that man's mental state, he likely hadn't made the soup from Mutant Creatures.
With that thought in mind, Lin Yu hesitated no longer. Under the watchful gaze of the Weird Man, whose eyes flickered with a complex and strange light, she decisively lifted the pot and gulped down the entire contents of the meat soup.
"Was it good?" The man asked, seemingly concerned.
Lin Yu wiped her lips and tested her physical strength. Feeling weak still surprised her; she looked up at him... "Not really."
"Hahaha, is 'not really' good or bad?" The Weird Man chuckled mischievously and suddenly brandished a human arm at her, saying, "If you want more, I can make you some more..."
It was soup made from human flesh!!!! Witnessing this man's perverse action left Lin Yu in shock, and she suddenly felt a violent churn in her stomach, wanting to vomit...
