Wen Kai, Li Hang, and Xiao Qiang, along with Lin Yu and Wu Yi, parted ways. Their paths diverged, and this was a phrase Matt often repeated: "Different paths mean no collaboration." Because of this, the five of them became scattered, each serving their own interests.
Matt had committed an act of rebellion by leaving Core Headquarters. He became the target of pursuit not only from Core Headquarters but also from various unknown individuals and organizations. The first time Xiao Qiang saw Matt, he appeared before them in his original form.

Lin Yu and Wu Yi were investigating the water pollution at the DBL6 experimental base's lake, while Xiao Qiang was troubled by the last words left by Old Eye Mask. Additionally, his body had not fully recovered, preventing him from participating in major events or searching for the source of the pollution.
Matt acted like a guardian, taking care of them. He would not allow Xiao Qiang to get involved in anything else until he was completely healed.
Having spent half a month cooped up in what felt like a white tent, this was Xiao Qiang's first time stepping outside. It suddenly dawned on him why Matt seemed so confident; this place was indeed safe.
Their camping area was five hundred meters away from the Nuclear Radiation zone. It could be said that the power of nature was immense and immeasurable. After the nuclear incident, nature had clearly begun to heal itself. The barren ground started to sprout clusters of tender green shoots, and occasionally a bird or two would perch on the bare branches, chirping softly.
The more dangerous a place was, the safer it seemed. Matt utilized this fact to choose this location as their temporary refuge.
Xiao Qiang had come as a messenger from Amy; Matt wanted to see him for something important.
Upon arriving at the agreed meeting spot, he stood like the wind in a simple coat. Following Matt's gaze, Xiao Qiang looked toward an area that appeared desolate and barren. Matt did not turn around but spoke to himself as if addressing Xiao Qiang behind him: "Humans are never satisfied with the status quo; they plunder without giving back. This is nature's revenge; humanity must bear the consequences of its actions."
Xiao Qiang let out a heavy sigh in agreement and asked, "Mr. Matt, do you know how dinosaurs went extinct? Who has been on Earth longer—humans or dinosaurs?"
Matt withdrew his gaze from the distance and turned slightly to glance at him with a somber expression. Calmly, he replied, "Humans have lived on Earth for two to three million years; that's not a short history by any means. However, compared to the existence of dinosaurs, it's merely a blink of an eye. During the Mesozoic era, Earth was dominated by dinosaurs; they roamed freely across plains, forests, and swamps alike. They existed for over one hundred thirty million years."
The distant history of dinosaurs felt like a fairy tale to Xiao Qiang's generation. Although he felt some resistance toward Matt, he still admired his knowledge and perseverance. Take his relationship with Professor R as an example! He dared to challenge his superior and quickly established his own path. To outsiders, it seemed like everything was done in the name of justice; who knew if there were other motives?
"Are you completely recovered?" Matt's mental equation suggested that entering someone else's private space wasn't difficult; sincerity and understanding were the only tickets required. He sensed Xiao Qiang's wariness toward him. After a small test of communication that felt promising, he finally got to the point with a slight smile—his gaze calm yet distant but filled with a hint of hope: "I invited you here to confirm an intuition." Before Xiao Qiang could respond—perhaps because he didn't want to hear what he might say—Matt suddenly shifted gears with piercing eyes fixed on Xiao Qiang: "Are you determined to follow me wholeheartedly?"
This question is quite difficult to answer. If I say yes, what if Matt's character is questionable? There's no such thing as a regret pill in this world. As the saying goes, "One who stays close to vermilion gets stained red; one who stays close to ink gets stained black." Although this ancient adage contains a fundamental common-sense error, it does have a certain logic! Xiao Qiang hesitated, which only served to infuriate Matt.
"Unwilling?"
"I don't know." Xiao Qiang looked up at the gray sky, feeling a heavy knot in his heart, filled with restlessness! Was it because Wen Kai and Li Hang had left, or did deciding to follow Matt mean he was lacking in humanity? After all, Professor R was the one who raised him.
"What do you mean you don't know?" Matt pressed on relentlessly.
"Not knowing means not knowing. After all, he is the one who raised us. If I had to choose, I wouldn't choose anyone." Xiao Qiang stood his ground, meeting Matt's gaze with fierce determination.
Matt lowered his head as if contemplating, perhaps lost in thought. Suddenly he looked up, his gaze unchanged as he continued to stare at Xiao Qiang. "Some things can't be explained in just a few words. You have to face them yourself..." As he spoke, his eyes shifted to the Chain that had just been connected with a thin thread. "I know the secret of the Chain... It is the Reincarnation Card Key, and only Xiao Chongjun's son can use it."
"Who is Xiao Chongjun?"
Matt diverted his gaze from the Chain and replied, "Do I really need to explain? Xiao Chongjun is your father."
Xiao Qiang was taken aback. "My father?"
"Yes."
Xiao Qiang felt that Matt was being too cunning. Was this bait he was throwing out? Or did he really know about his family? Cautiously, he pretended to be indifferent and chose not to press further...
Matt was indeed intrigued; he was curious about what kind of person Xiao Qiang was and why he seemed so calm when mentioning his biological father. There was no intense reaction as he had expected. "Don't you want to know about your father and mother?"
Seeing the other party take the initiative to ask, Xiao Qiang smiled lightly and said, "One day I will find out." With that, he turned to leave.

Xiao Qiang, having taken a few steps, paused slightly and slowly turned to look at Matt. "If there's anything you need me to do, just say the word. After all, you saved my life."
"You’re still just a kid, with so many thoughts," Matt replied, feeling a small sense of self-comfort as he noticed Xiao Qiang had stopped to listen seriously. He continued, "Do you know what the difference between you and Lin Yu is?"
"..." Xiao Qiang was speechless.
"She speaks her mind and is quite likable," Matt said, casting a meaningful glance at him before casually checking his watch. "You might need to go back to 2030 for a bit."
"Why?"
"Do you remember the Phantom Reincarnation Tunnel? It's not your ability; it's this Reincarnation Card Key that grants you the energy to create the reincarnation tunnel."
"So what?"
"Do you remember where you sent that batch of Skeleton Mutants?"
This was the crux of the matter, and it was what Xiao Qiang had been worried about all along. But how did Matt know? Lin Yu hadn't seen it; only Wen Kai had witnessed it firsthand. Did he say something?
