Under the flickering light of the torches, chaos reigned at the scene. The Living Dead crashed into Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi, leaving only a dead end. 0

With their addition, Gui Ye let out a sigh of relief. A casual glance over the battlefield revealed that they had lost another two or three men. 0

Jianjian was jolted awake, and upon seeing shadows moving outside the tent amidst the sounds of battle, her heart raced. 0

Someone shouted to reinforce the outer defenses. Trembling with fear, she peeked outside, only to be met with the grotesque faces of blood-soaked monsters. Before she could scream, Xiao Qiang and his companions smashed their heads in with powerful punches, while more Bloodthirsty Creatures continued to surge forward. 0

Jianjian couldn't see Lin Yu and was unaware of what was happening. She felt an inexplicable aversion towards this sister named Lin Yu. In the chaotic scene, no one noticed the little girl slipping out of the tent. 0

However, a Living Dead caught her scent and slowly approached her from a dark corner... Her heart raced with anxiety as she took in the perilous and thrilling combat around her. 0

Suddenly, strange sounds came from behind her, startling her into turning around—instinctively tapping into her self-defense energy, a powerful and chilling aura erupted from her. 0

Boom! The Living Dead that attacked Jianjian suddenly swelled up like an inflating balloon before bursting with a loud bang. Under the astonished gazes of Xiao Qiang, Wu Yi, and many others, the Living Dead exploded. 0

In front of the shattered remains of the Living Dead, Little Pick-Up remained unfazed, calmly observing the unfolding scene without fear. 0

Lin Yu dashed out from behind Jianjian and hugged her tightly before repeatedly asking, “Are you okay?” 0

Seeing Lin Yu, Xiao Qiang thought to himself: Just as I expected. 0

He embraced both girls and whispered in Lin Yu's ear, “Thank you for saving Jianjian.” 0

Lin Yu paused for a moment before breaking into a smile and teasingly replied, “Is Jianjian only yours? Don’t forget she’s my little sister too.” 0

“True, that cannot be denied.” Xiao Qiang released them and turned to see Wu Yi staring at them blankly. Standing straight, he playfully nudged him and said, “What’s wrong? Jealous? If you’re envious, just join us.” 0

Wu Yi snorted coldly and replied, “Not interested.” With a meaningful glance at Lin Yu, he turned and walked away. 0

“Such a wolfish nature…” 0

As early morning approached three o'clock, they finally found some quiet moments to rest after their exhausting ordeal. 0

One after another, several companions had died, leaving Gui Ye feeling somewhat unbalanced. Why did my people have to die? Those outsiders seemed completely unharmed. He sulkily pulled out a toothpick and stuck it in his mouth, staring blankly at their tents with a complex expression. 0

The wilderness was home to many wild animals, some of which had survived during the Nuclear War. They roamed the abandoned cities, claiming territory and managing to survive for quite some time. 0

Later, as the earth began to recover, people gradually returned to rebuild their homes. They started to drive away these creatures that had once only lived in the mountains and forests. The animals hated humanity's tyranny and would often howl mournfully from afar, gazing longingly at the distant lights and sounds of civilization. 0

In the midst of sleep, Xiao Qiang was jolted awake by a piercing wolf howl. He glanced outside the tent; dawn was breaking. Yawning, he crawled out of the tent. The first light of morning was just beginning to appear on the eastern horizon, signaling the start of a new day. 0

Was that wolf howl a prank from Wu Yi? He looked over at Wu Yi's sleeping bag; it seemed that he hadn't come into the tent all night. What was he up to? The morning chill was biting, and Xiao Qiang tightened his collar as he spotted Wu Yi on the outskirts of their defensive perimeter. His hair was damp from dew, tousled and curling on his forehead, and he leaned against the railing with tired eyes while yawning. 0

"Go get some rest; I've got this covered," Xiao Qiang said as he grabbed Wu Yi's wristwatch to check the time, his gaze falling on Wu Yi's sharp nails. "Did you just howl like a wolf?" 0

"Not me; it came from over there. I only heard that call, which is why I didn't go back to rest," Wu Yi replied lazily, glancing up at the misty sky. "Do you think Lin Yu saved Jianjian?" 0

"Yeah, what's wrong with that?" 0

"If you think so, then it must be true," Wu Yi said cryptically, casting a sidelong glance at him before whistling as he walked toward the tent. 0

Xiao Qiang stared at Wu Yi's departing figure, pondering the implications of his words. Frowning, he murmured, "What does that mean?" 0

Everyone in JD Member knew that Lin Yu had extraordinary mental powers. Why would Wu Yi harbor doubts about her? It must be blatant jealousy! 0

Wu Yi was meticulous; there must be some hidden agenda behind his approach this time. Suddenly craving a smoke, Xiao Qiang particularly wanted to try that cigar Gui Ye had given him for the first time. 0

Perhaps it was an unconscious action; he fumbled through his pockets in a somewhat comical manner... 0

A long and mournful wolf howl pierced the air—"Awoo..."—alerting Xiao Qiang. He looked up towards the overgrown cliffs and then at the flat area filled with purple flowers mingling with wild grass. Images flashed in his mind of the Wolf Pack attacking him, Wu Yi, and Lin Yu during those years when humanity had vanished from Earth. 0

Were there wolves here too? If so, that would spell trouble. Wolves were not as easy to deal with as the Living Dead; they were among the most intelligent and social creatures in the carnivore world. 0

Xiao Qiang couldn't afford to be careless; he hurriedly sought a vantage point for more details. In the distance, he saw Lin Yu running toward him, holding Jianjian's hand. 0

"Hey, let's head back." 0

"What did you say?" Lin Yu only saw Xiao Qiang's mouth move, but he couldn't hear what was being said. The wind must have carried the words away. 0

Xiao Qiang felt frustrated. Why had Lin Yu brought Jianjian here at this time? If there were wolves nearby, it would be like walking straight into their jaws. 0

Sure enough, just as he was desperately gesturing and shouting for Lin Yu to return to the tent, a tall Head Wolf stood alone atop a rocky outcrop, its fierce green eyes glinting as it looked down at them. Behind the Head Wolf was a neatly arranged Wolf Pack. 0

Lin Yu also saw it and froze for a moment, her breath caught in her throat as her heart raced. She stood there, tense and at a loss, looking towards Xiao Qiang. 0

"It's okay, don't make any sudden moves. Just walk over slowly," Xiao Qiang whispered, gesturing calmly. 0

Before long, perhaps due to the howling of the wolves, other people in the tent were stirred awake. Gui Ye and Wu Yi, who might not have had time to rest yet, gradually moved towards Xiao Qiang. 0

The wolf pack was also on the move; it seemed that a confrontation between humans and wolves was about to begin. Xiao Qiang looked again at the Head Wolf but found it had vanished among the many wolves. 0

The defensive barrier would not withstand the impact of the pack. Normally, these wolves would still fear humans to some extent. But now they moved forward without restraint, closing the distance between them. It seemed their hunger drove them on, and seeing that there were not even half as many humans as there were wolves here, they likely intended to encircle and attack. 0

Suddenly, Xiao Qiang noticed that the missing Head Wolf had withdrawn from the pack's perimeter and was running westward into the mountains. A sense of dread filled his heart as he quietly asked Gui Ye if the wolves were giving up on the fight. 0
