Vampires, legends say, were illustrated by the Romans as creatures from hell. This breed of beings has a long history, feeding on blood from the extreme world.
According to legend, these monsters were once mortals summoned from hell by demons, with the intention of training them in dark powers.
In the end, the demons deceived these vampires and indirectly destroyed their hopes, resulting in an eternal darkness within the caves.
However, the vampires did not lose heart; they waited for someone filled with evil and extraordinary energy to come along, someone who could liberate them.
The one recounting this legendary tale was a seemingly knowledgeable man who stepped down from an H3 Hummer. He exuded an air of mystery that drew attention with his words and demeanor.
Xiao Qiang and the others exchanged skeptical glances, shaking their heads. Could it be that the vampires of Roman times were related to modern vampires? They chuckled, with Min Dagang exclaiming, "The vampires of Roman times have nothing to do with modern ones! Scholars just love to flaunt their obscure logic that others can't understand."
"Is this true or false?"
The man's radiant eyes, difficult to categorize as either good or evil, turned toward Wen Kai. A warm smile spread across his face as he said, "Child, come here."
Seeing that the man was trying to charm young Wen Kai, Xiao Qiang became alert. He couldn't expose the man's identity or prevent Wen Kai from his current fate. After all, he did not belong to this era and would eventually leave.
He moved his lips and placed a finger on Wen Kai's shoulder, forcing a smile as he asked, "Do you know him, Wen Kai?"
Wen Kai shook his head. "I don't know him." He leaned closer to Xiao Qiang, ignoring the summons from the Mysterious Man.
Noticing Wen Kai's attachment to Xiao Qiang, the Mysterious Man did not react strongly. Instead, he approached his assistant and whispered something.
Soon after, the assistant came over. In Xiao Qiang's eyes, young Matt seemed quite impressive—spirited and possessing an extraordinary aura.
Matt raised an eyebrow and smiled mysteriously. "Do you know who he is?"
Xiao Qiang nearly blurted out the English name of the Mysterious Man. After a moment's hesitation, he shook his head noncommittally. "I don't know."
"He is the renowned Biochemical Research Doctor Professor R, a proud veteran."
"Hmph." Xiao Qiang chuckled quietly in disdain, thinking to himself: Do you even know who I am? I'm also a famous warrior from the future world—Xiao Qiang, sent here to this godforsaken year of 2038 because of you.
"You are quite rude," Matt replied coldly, reaching into his pocket.
Xiao Qiang knew there must be some secret weapon or a miniature Biochemical Weapon in there. A wise man doesn't take unnecessary risks; thinking of Lin Yu and those still waiting for them in Mountain Village, he offered an apologetic smile. "Your doctor is saying that vampires are still breeding rampantly in the caves; shouldn't you go deal with that?"
Matt withdrew his hand and smiled calmly, saying, "Of course, but you have to promise to let us take Wen Kai with you, and then you’ll lead the way."
The city lord, Min Dagang, and Wen Kai were unaware of what Xiao Qiang was discussing with the young assistant. From their expressions, it seemed they were having a pleasant conversation.
Min Dagang scratched his chin and whispered to the city lord, "Do you think they are negotiating to award us honorary medals or preparing to give us a large sum of pension money for our retirement?"
"Dream on!" The city lord crossed his arms and glanced at the older scholar speaking into a communicator, asking Min Dagang, "Do you know him?"
"I don't know him; he didn't get out of the car at that time."
The city lord rolled his eyes dramatically and said mysteriously, "He looks like he has quite a background."
"Whatever. No matter how impressive they are, look—aren't they being polite to our boss?" Min Dagang's gaze remained fixed on Xiao Qiang, filled with admiration and respect.
Matt turned to Xiao Qiang and said, "We must take that kid named Wen Kai with us."
"Why?"
"Because he’s someone the boss wants."
"The boss?"
"I told you not to ask so much; it's not good to get yourself into trouble."
To be honest, Xiao Qiang wasn't in the mood to inquire about these matters. As long as he knew Wen Kai's ultimate destination, everything would be fine. However, he still wanted to clarify the situation regarding Lin Yu and Xiao Wu Yi.
He couldn't let them know his true origins, nor could he reveal that he was a mutant; otherwise, these two scientific lunatics would treat him as a rare specimen and take him back to their base for research. If that happened, he could forget about returning to the future world and seeing Lin Yu again.
Standing there with his chin resting on his hand, Xiao Qiang pondered how to ask the questions weighing on his mind. He hoped for a solution that would serve both purposes.
Matt had already left to discuss the content of his conversation with Xiao Qiang with Professor R.
Xiao Qiang looked at Wen Kai and suddenly had a flash of inspiration. He furrowed his brow as an idea formed in his mind. He walked over, and Wen Kai immediately rushed toward him with a bright smile.
"Be careful."
"Big Brother, they said they would take me to the city to learn knowledge."
"Mm." Xiao Qiang agreed, pretending to help Wen Kai organize his clothes as he whispered to him, "Find out who else is at their school, and then directly ask if there are any named Wu Yi and Lin Yu."
"Ah?"
"Just say you've heard about these two for a long time." Xiao Qiang took advantage of Wen Kai being an invisible mutant as well, encouraging him to probe Matt. This way, it wouldn't raise any suspicion between the two of them. After all, mutants inherently possessed a kind of unexplainable understanding and mental connection that even scientific theories couldn't clarify.
Matt was pleased with Xiao Qiang's cooperation and was in high spirits. Children are naturally curious and asked many inquisitive questions. He answered them one by one, and indeed, no suspicions arose.
The Professor R had connections with certain Guerrilla Military groups; the Biochemical Weapons he developed were primarily sold to these military forces. Therefore, his requests would be hard for the military to refuse.
Wen Kai gave Xiao Qiang a thumbs-up.
Lin Yu and Xiao Wu Yi were at Matt's school, which relieved a weight from Xiao Qiang's heart. He watched as the vehicle sped away; they still had to wait for the military team to arrive.
The dark clouds hung lower and lower, signaling an impending storm. Military units continuously appeared on the road. Min Dagang was excited; the city lord volunteered to act as a guide to lead the team in bombing the vampire lair.
At that moment, victory belonged to them. Xiao Qiang never expected that what happened next would leave him bewildered and confused.
