Under the piercing gaze of Xiao Qiang, his hand holding the gun trembled uncontrollably.
"Are you scared?" Xiao Qiang asked, his expression unchanged and his heart steady, staring directly at him with a calm tone.
"What a joke, what do I have to be afraid of? You're just a snot-nosed brat; killing you is as easy as killing a dog," Choke replied, though he was shaken by the confidence and righteousness reflected in Xiao Qiang's eyes, feeling a bit uneasy inside.
"Clap, clap," Xiao Qiang encouraged, "Go ahead and shoot, you coward. I believe that within ten minutes, Zhong Xuan and reporters from various countries will be here to visit your Robot Company."
Hearing this from Xiao Qiang made Choke's confidence waver even more; his face twitched, and he felt increasingly anxious. "What do you mean by that?"
Xiao Qiang stopped in his tracks, so close that with just a slight step forward, he would be under the barrel of Choke's gun. Habitually raising his hand, he scratched his nose and said, "It means nothing. Before coming here, I left a message saying that Kabo Corporation's Choke wanted to see me."
"Hahaha!" Choke suddenly burst into laughter upon hearing Xiao Qiang's words. "Kid, even if you're going to make up stories, at least have some basis for it. Do you really think anyone would believe such a lame excuse? Look at your own status; how dare you claim that Kabo Corporation's Choke is looking for you? Hilarious."
"You don't believe me? Fine, please pull up Kabo Corporation's surveillance footage. I've been here once before, and I came with the renowned Fang Shanshan Lawyer."
Choke was skeptical but sneered, "No need to check the surveillance." He shouted into the air, "Rock."
Suddenly, a lifelike holographic image appeared before Choke. "Dr. Jock has something?"
What is this? Xiao Qiang was secretly startled, watching the situation unfold.
Choke commanded, "Rock, do you remember this person?"
"I remember; his ID card doesn't match his identity. However, someone vouches for him—the guarantor is a client of Fang Shanshan. The true identity of Fang Shanshan's client is a lawyer..."
"What kind of logic is that? Get lost!" Choke's expression changed as he shouted angrily.
Rock vanished without a sound.
Xiao Qiang remained silent, speculating whether Rock might be Kabo Corporation's electronic monitoring system. Using Han Ming's jargon, it should be the core electronic brain of Kabo Corporation.
No matter what, Rock had already proven his presence at the company. It seemed that Fang Shanshan's attack had nothing to do with Choke. Xiao Qiang pondered silently about what to do next—should he advance or retreat?
After Rock confirmed that Xiao Qiang had been at the company, Choke's attitude shifted slightly. He waved his hand, sending everyone else out of the office, leaving only Xiao Qiang behind.
"You really have some guts, disappearing for two years and reappearing without fear of us settling old scores with you."
"How has Dr. Jock been these past two years?" Xiao Qiang evaded the topic, his eyes revealing a nonchalant expression as he asked.
"Kid, we don't have any real issues between us. If it weren't for your accidental killing of Mihir, Kabo Corporation wouldn't have turned against you, would they?"
Xiao Qiang raised a finger and said, "N, don't try to lead me on. Kabo Corporation is developing rapidly; didn't Rock just come out? How could I dare to speak carelessly?" He paused for a moment, then looked seriously at Choke and said, "I didn't kill Mihir."
Choke kept his gaze fixed on him. "Oh? Then who do you think killed Mihir? Or was it R?"
Xiao Qiang sensed something was off! The other party was clearly trying to implicate Professor R. Could there be some issue between them? He thought silently but maintained a calm facade as he replied, "It wasn't R; it was Plum Blossom Rain."
"Do you have any evidence to support that?" Choke moved aside a magazine and asked casually.
"At that time, only Plum Blossom Rain was with Mihir. I was taken away afterward; the employees of Kabo Corporation tortured me, and then I escaped." Xiao Qiang nodded. "I remember it clearly."
Choke continued to stare at Xiao Qiang without addressing Plum Blossom Rain directly but instead asked indirectly, "You didn't come here just to tell me this, did you?"
Old fox, Xiao Qiang cursed inwardly. Externally, he still had to maintain an unruffled demeanor. "Of course it's not just about this..." Damn it, I can't say anything about seeing the robot; would that bring more trouble? "Plum Blossom Rain has kidnapped Fang Shanshan Lawyer. Her boyfriend went to the police station to report it; I think they are already on their way."
Choke's previously calm demeanor changed upon hearing this news. "Are you serious?"
"Who has the time to joke about this? Plum Blossom Rain has caused you trouble by kidnapping a lawyer; what do you think the consequences will be? You know better than I do!"
Xiao Qiang raised his gaze and caught a fleeting look of inquiry and cold killing intent in Choke's eyes.
“Rock.”
With a sigh, the square-shaped phantom avatar reappeared, maintaining its usual respectful tone. “Is there something you need, Doctor?”
“Show me where Plum Blossom Rain is right now and her recent activities.”
After finishing the sentence, a flash of light appeared, and snowflakes danced across the three-dimensional wall. Following the snowflakes was the image of Plum Blossom Rain. She seemed quite busy, looking around anxiously.
“Is this the situation of Plum Blossom Rain at the company?”
“Of course. As long as she is at the company, Rock will store all her activity records.”
“That’s useless. Plum Blossom Rain is the one who kidnapped Fang Shanshan.”
Upon hearing this, Choke seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. “Then I can’t do anything about it.”
“But Plum Blossom Rain is your employee at Kabo Corporation. How could that not matter?”
“Wrong! When employees are at work, they are under my company’s management. Once they clock out, any actions they take are none of my company’s business.” Just as Choke finished speaking, a call came in on the phone on the desk. The screen displayed: A representative from the insurance company is visiting.
Choke addressed the screen. “Meet in Conference Room 1.”
The insurance company was linked to Kabo Group. It seemed that Fang Shanshan had mentioned this to Xiao Qiang. With the insurance company coming over, something significant must have happened.
“Regarding the Mihir Incident, you still bear responsibility for it. Kid, don’t blame me…”
“I can capture Plum Blossom Rain and make her confess.”
“Plum Blossom Rain is an employee of my company; who are you? Who should I trust?” Choke shot a fierce glare at Xiao Qiang. “You overconfident fool, don’t leave yet… If you dare to sneak away, you’ll regret it.”
The insurance company representative arrived, and Choke couldn't shake off the feeling that something was amiss.
Sure enough, the representative got straight to the point: "We've received complaints from citizens about your company's new product. I've been notified by the police department to come here and ask you, Doctor. What’s going on with NS-3? There have been frequent incidents, and the impact is quite serious."
Choke maintained a cold expression and replied, "NS-3 is a custom-designed new generation robot created by our vice president. How could there possibly be an issue?"
"Have you not seen the news?"
"What news?"
"A robot numbered 126 was attacked by its owner because it detached its own arm and reassembled itself."
"Ha! Am I hearing a huge joke? A robot detached its own arm and then unnecessarily reassembled itself?"
The insurance representative nodded. "That’s correct. The owner even took photos of the robot during the reassembly." As he spoke, he pushed his phone in front of Choke and opened the screen.
Choke glanced at the image on the screen, his face twitching slightly as he stubbornly continued to argue, "Self-repair in machines is a complex concept. For a robot without a secondary principle to evolve into having its own consciousness within a few weeks sounds utterly ridiculous." Despite the photographic evidence, he shook his head, his eyes reflecting disbelief and suspicion at the bad news presented to him.
