Xiao Qiang's abilities were well understood by Serpent Woman. At the same time, she felt a shiver under his piercing gaze, her eyelids twitching. Although fear crept into her heart, she refused to show any sign of retreat and forced herself to narrow her slanted eyes, venomously declaring, "If I can't have it, neither can anyone else."
Before her words had fully left her lips, a whirlwind suddenly erupted from the ground, swirling around her. In an instant, everything before her blurred. Bang! Her face took a heavy hit, as she had been distracted controlling Fang Shanshan and had not anticipated Xiao Qiang's spinning ability.
Reeling from the blow, she loosened her grip, and with a whoosh, the Serpent Head that had ensnared Fang Shanshan naturally retracted. She cunningly feigned an attack, extending her tongue to lash out at Xiao Qiang. Whoosh! A bright flash of blade-like light flickered across Plum Blossom Rain's face.
The gray-brown forked tongue quickly withdrew, releasing a faint brown mist. Seizing the opportunity while Xiao Qiang used his body to shield Fang Shanshan from the toxic fog, Plum Blossom Rain swiftly slipped away.
Fang Shanshan was overwhelmed by fear, exhaustion, and hunger; when Xiao Qiang supported her, she fainted without uttering a word.
Han Ming and Zhong Xuan pressed against the wall, inching their way along until they finally escaped from the guards' line of fire. However, upon stepping out, they found no police cars and noticed that both Xiao Qiang and Nair were missing.
Feeling puzzled, they hurriedly searched around. Next to a dilapidated wall, they unexpectedly spotted an Old Beggar. The Old Beggar seemed to be in a deep sleep, wearing a contented smile on his face.
Zhong Xuan felt something was off. Under Han Ming's watchful gaze, he approached the Old Beggar and extended his finger to test for breath at his nose.
"What's the verdict?"
Zhong Xuan glanced at the food scraps clutched in the Old Beggar's hand and shook his head. "He's dead."
"Stuffed to death?"
"Old age," Zhong Xuan sighed. "Damn it, Xiao Qiang fed him my food and fulfilled his last wish before he died."
"Huh?"
"Let's go!"
Zhong Xuan was quite hefty and waddled as he walked.
Han Ming was more agile but still had to consider Zhong Xuan’s pace. The two of them walking together was quite cumbersome.
"Let's split up; this way we can see more places," Han Ming suggested.
Zhong Xuan, drenched in sweat, stopped and glanced around for a moment before wiping his forehead with his fist. "Sure."
Whoosh! A figure moved swiftly from the east, heading towards them. Han Ming, with keen eyes, pointed at the approaching person and exclaimed, "Look over there."
Zhong Xuan spread his legs apart and patted his old thighs a few times. "I'm getting old; my legs often ache. I can't sleep well at night, so I have to beat them a bit to feel better." As he spoke, he caught sight of the figure rushing towards them. "Who is it?"
Han Ming replied, "There's something off about this."
"Oh, let's catch them and ask," Zhong Xuan said as he drew his gun from behind, ready to question the person when they arrived.
The approaching individual spotted them as well. They considered retreating but realized there was only one path back to the city; all other routes were rugged and difficult to traverse.
As the person drew closer, Han Ming and Zhong Xuan saw a young woman. She had a devilishly alluring figure, swaying gracefully, with a curvaceous body and captivating eyes. Without any hesitation, she walked straight towards the two men.
Zhong Xuan licked his lips and smacked his mouth, gazing at the woman with eyes full of desire. He thought to himself, "Damn it, I've lived half my life and this is the first time I've seen such an enchanting beauty." Comparing her to Fang Shanshan, one was seductive and charming while the other was a classic beauty.
Han Ming maintained a blank expression as he observed the woman. Judging by her bewitching gaze, he concluded that she was not someone to be trifled with.
"Where are you from, beautiful?" Zhong Xuan stepped forward to strike up a conversation.
The woman paused, her chest rising and falling slightly. She smiled at the two men—one stout and one slim—and asked, "Where are you headed?"
"Business," Han Ming quickly replied, fearing Zhong Xuan might say too much.
"Well then, you two carry on; I need to get home," she said as she brushed past Zhong Xuan and Han Ming.
Nair had already parked the police car outside the dark house, hiding it beside a crumbling building. Plum Blossom Rain had fled in such a panic that she hadn’t noticed the police vehicle.
Xiao Qiang rushed out, cradling the unconscious Fang Shanshan in his arms.
Han Ming and Zhong Xuan arrived one after the other, just as Nair was opening the car door. Han Ming's gaze froze as he stared at Fang Shanshan, who was being held by Xiao Qiang. A surge of jealousy welled up inside him! His momentary smile vanished, replaced by a darkening expression.
Xiao Qiang, anxious to help, didn't notice the tension. He gently helped Fang Shanshan into the car and stepped back, only to find Han Ming glaring at him with hostility.
"Just now she..."
Han Ming didn't listen to his explanation. He strode forward, pushed Xiao Qiang aside, and squeezed into the car, pressing close to Fang Shanshan. His eyes were filled with affection as he gently brushed aside the hair covering her forehead and pressed his lips to hers, whispering, "Oh, wake up, okay?"
"She’s too tired."
"Not your concern." Han Ming shot a glare at Xiao Qiang and slammed the car door shut.
Zhong Xuan had been watching the drama unfold between Han Ming and Xiao Qiang with a cold eye. After it was over, he let out a dry laugh and patted Xiao Qiang on the shoulder, teasingly saying, "Kid, it's always good to know your limits."
Xiao Qiang instructed Nair to take them both to the hospital.
Zhong Xuan found himself unable to enter from the front or the middle. Growing frustrated, he began cursing! Nair took orders without waiting for Zhong Xuan to get in, starting the engine and driving away.
"What the hell are you guys doing?" Zhong Xuan complained loudly.
"We still have things to do. Nair will come back for you later," Xiao Qiang ignored Zhong Xuan's outburst and walked toward the tunnel. He went directly through the tunnel and climbed up the iron ladder to the top of the metal structure.
"Xiao Qiang, listen," Zhong Xuan followed closely behind, mumbling, "I’m afraid of heights."
"Don’t you want to achieve something during your tenure? A glorious retirement with double benefits? Don’t you want that?"
It was a tempting offer—an irresistible temptation that forced Lao Zhonghuan to climb higher and follow Xiao Qiang shakily.
Xiao Qiang initially intended to confront Plum Blossom Rain at Kabo Corporation for answers but didn’t expect her to slip away so quickly. Now, the only thing he could use against Kabo Corporation was this remains of a suicide robot.
He wanted Zhong Xuan to bring the suicide robot back to the police station; it was solid evidence. If they delayed too long, Kabo Corporation might come to retrieve it, which would complicate matters significantly.
In an attempt to distract himself from his fear of heights, Zhong Xuan made small talk, saying, "I just saw a woman with a wild vibe."
"A woman?" Xiao Qiang paused, intrigued. "What did she look like?"
Zhong Xuan went on to describe the woman he had seen, embellishing the details.
Xiao Qiang turned around. "She is Plum Blossom Rain, the vicious woman who attacked Fang Shanshan Lawyer."
"No way!" Zhong Xuan scoffed. "Does she have a grudge against Fang Shanshan Lawyer?"
Xiao Qiang felt a pang of frustration and didn't turn back. "It's complicated."
"Even if it's complicated, you have to explain it. I need to document this."
Ignoring Zhong Xuan's rambling, Xiao Qiang quickly climbed up the iron framework of the building. The guy was still engrossed in watching the surveillance footage, completely absorbed in the lewd images flashing on the small screen.
It was time for Lao Zhonghuan to step in. He shouted at the guy for seriously violating national laws by watching pornographic films. Amidst the chaos of his yelling, he ordered Xiao Qiang to bind the man on the spot and stuffed a pair of foul-smelling socks into his mouth. Only then did they both descend to collect the remains of the robot, and Nair came to take them to the police station.
