"Captain's orders cannot be disobeyed," Xiao Qiang knew this well. He understood that it was best to let things be and not escalate the situation. He watched helplessly as the goddess walked away with Wen Kai.
Chain was a mystery. Once outside the club, the goddess pulled her hand from the warmth of his arm and walked ahead into the wind, with K closely following. The biting cold forced him to pull up his collar and tilt his head slightly back, feeling countless icy stars prickling against his face.
"This rain is annoying," K muttered to himself. Noticing that the goddess didn't respond, he continued, "Are you still thinking about Chain?"
"Yeah. They say this Chain belonged to my fiancé, who was killed by a Mimetic Bionic Alien," the goddess replied, her thoughts in disarray. Just moments ago in the club, that reckless guy had dared to say such things. What did her fiancé look like? She had trained tirelessly for revenge. Was this an emotional trap set by someone, or was it a deliberate attempt to ignite her fighting spirit through hatred?
The misty rain blurred her vision, and his image seemed deeply imprinted in her mind.
K, who had been silently following her, suddenly asked, "Who gave you this Chain?"
"I don't know. It felt like a dream, but also very real. A woman..." The goddess paused, deep in thought, then suddenly exclaimed, "I remember! It was a Seductive Woman. She told me this was my fiancé's relic... it was a dream..."
Seeing how distressed she looked, K quickly interjected, "Stop it. Don't think about it anymore." He noticed someone waiting for her at the entrance—it was Jack.
Jack said, "You two went to the club?"
"Yes. I'm really sorry to have kept you waiting."
"No problem. Why don't you come in and sit for a bit?"
"Not right now. You have things to do; I'll take my leave first."
Jack watched as K walked away and turned to the goddess, noticing her troubled expression. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. My master needs me for something."
"Of course, I calculated the magnetic energy on the surveillance screen. Guess what I found?"
The goddess entered the room and casually closed the door. "What did you find?"
"A type of ability, an energy that surpasses your telekinetic ability."
"Where did you discover it?" The goddess raised her eyebrows in surprise. "You can't be saying you saw it on the surveillance screen, right?"
"Correct."
The goddess activated the button for the hidden chamber in the wall. The simulated wall slowly opened, revealing an entrance to a dark room. They walked in one after the other, where a three-dimensional nano-sensing projection detector flickered with light.
"Master, please continue," the goddess gestured politely and leaned down to look at the detector. The green-hued sensor projected myriad beams of light. Their detection was limited here because their own energy was insufficient to probe deeper.
If there were a new energy entity, the Nano Sensing Detector would surely be able to locate the hiding place of the Mimicry Abnormal Monster. As long as they could detect where the monster was hiding, they could completely control it within their extermination range.
"Those who possess this kind of energy have Super Strong Subatomic Particles within them."
"Quarks, an essential energy source for traversing eras."
"Yes, a true master does not reveal themselves; revealing oneself does not make one a true master."
"Master, stop keeping me in suspense. Tell me who this person is so I can go capture them."
Jack shook his head. "He is a person. With such energy, do you think he would let you capture him easily? I've been trying to correct your misconceptions and help you regain your lady-like image. It seems I underestimated your inherent flaws."
"Master, please take a seat." The goddess raised her delicate fingers and pretended to be coy, unable to hold back her laughter. "Master, I'm really conflicted; it's genuinely awkward."
Jack smiled, his brows furrowed, his gaze never leaving the Nano Sensing Detector. Yet, his tone was humorous as he said, "He has feelings too. As long as you're gentle, I believe that soon enough, he will become your loyal subject."
"Master, I want to ask you a question."
Jack turned off the nano sensing monitor, his blue eyes looking at the goddess, still smiling as he replied, "Is it about Chain?"
"Yes. You know that guy just went to the club. He said something."
"What did he say?"
"He said: I am his fiancée. This Chain is a token of our love."
Jack thoughtfully rested his chin on his hand, considering the goddess's words. With a kind smile, he said, "There's a saying in China: 'One won't give up until reaching the Yellow River.' It seems this person is quite infatuated with you."
"Master, is there a difference between this and the emotional connections in your Western countries?"
"Perhaps. Chinese people tend to be more reserved, while Westerners are more direct," Jack gestured. "Directness—you know—it's what you Chinese call 'cutting through the chaos with a quick knife.'"
"Mm. I've heard people say that you Westerners are...," the goddess blushed and smiled shyly, "are quite casual about sex."
Jack found her comment amusing and laughed heartily. "That's half right and half wrong. Casual depends on what kind of casual it is. In fact, we Westerners still respect women's choices. If the other party doesn't have that intention, as the opposite gender, we wouldn't infringe upon her."
The goddess was momentarily speechless, unsure how to respond. Suddenly, she recalled a month ago when Jack had boldly said to her: "I like you." It had startled her at the time. Although there was a vague memory of someone in her mind, she had a subconscious feeling that one day he and she would be together. That was why she had been so taken aback by Jack, who was significantly older than her.
"Hey, what are you thinking about?" Jack noticed the goddess's shy expression and knew her thoughts were wandering again. "I need to head back now; that kid will continue to challenge you today."
The goddess embraced Jack before parting ways.
After sending Jack off, she reflected on his words about that kid continuing to challenge her. That kid... that jerk. She instinctively touched her lips, which had almost been taken advantage of, feeling a warm flush rise to her cheeks. What was happening? Thankfully Jack had left; otherwise, she would have been teased again.
Sitting in front of the vanity, she engaged in an unfamiliar action, staring blankly at herself in the Mirror... Suddenly sensing something unusual behind her, she turned around and stood up angrily, shouting, "Who are you?"
"Don't be curious about me; I'm just here to check on you," the enchanting woman said in a delicate voice, her gaze flitting around the small space. "He came looking for you."
"Who?"
"That fool."
"What exactly do you mean?"
The enchanting woman smiled slyly. "I can't tell you for now. Farewell." With that, she nimbly slipped out through the small window.
"She's a mutant too. That window is so small..." The goddess was astonished as she approached the window and leaned out to look. It was indeed very small. "She can transform." However, the woman vanished without a trace, making it clear that she was no ordinary person, perhaps even someone sent by the World Rescue Team.
