The trailer bumped along the small dirt road before turning onto a wide main road. Xiao Qiang turned his head, gazing affectionately at Lin Yu, and sincerely praised, "Your driving skills are impressive."
"It was a spur of the moment," Lin Yu replied. It had been a long time since she had been alone with Xiao Qiang at such close quarters. The small space of the driver's cabin felt cramped, and there were so many things they could talk about. However, this was not the right time to express the longing that had settled in her heart. A loud crash interrupted Xiao Qiang's words. He turned sharply to see their mobile home being attacked by a monstrous creature. A violent tremor shook the vehicle as a head full of sharp teeth suddenly emerged from the middle of the mobile home.
As the monster poked its head out from the roof, its octopus-like tentacles lunged into the driver's cabin, nearly grabbing Lin Yu's arm.
Xiao Qiang's anger flared as he raised his arm and swung it at the tentacle that had intruded. With a series of sharp cracks, he severed it, causing corrosive liquid to spray onto the leather interior of the vehicle. A burning smell filled the air as a large green hole appeared in the leather, spreading damage to the metal components inside.
The monster recoiled its remaining tentacles. Despite this, Lin Yu kept driving at high speed without hesitation. Xiao Qiang punched through the roof of the vehicle, half his body emerging as he raised his arms to launch a fierce counterattack against the creature.
The mobile home tilted dangerously in an attempt to block Xiao Qiang's assault. "What a cunning beast!" he cursed as he intensified his attacks.
Suddenly, the monster spewed out flames that shot toward Xiao Qiang. He ducked slightly as the flames soared over the front of the vehicle and ignited a tree by the roadside with a crackling sound.
The monster emitted a low growl and launched another attack. Xiao Qiang steadied himself and unleashed fireballs from his shoulder tentacles. Boom! The fireballs struck both the monster and their mobile home, resulting in an explosive roar as flames engulfed everything in sight while the creature thrashed about.
Lin Yu skillfully maneuvered the vehicle, escaping from the wreckage of their mobile home. The monster's dismembered body fell apart like a broken locomotive, pieces scattering across the road.
"Are you okay?" Xiao Qiang asked anxiously as he looked at Lin Yu's forehead where a small trickle of blood had emerged. She lacked self-healing abilities. "Why can't you use your mental powers?"
"I'm not able to maintain my telekinetic abilities for long. It's fine for dealing with a few enemies, but facing a horde of them... That time I carelessly used my powers led to me being captured by the enemy..." Lin Yu's voice caught in his throat as he spoke, catching a glimpse of the concern in Xiao Qiang's eyes, filling his heart with happiness.

The car slowly came to a stop, and the two exchanged a silent glance. In that moment, an uncontrollable and overwhelming emotion erupted, momentarily overshadowing everything they had just experienced seconds before.
A brief look of concern conveyed a thousand unspoken words. Xiao Qiang switched places with Lin Yu. The car was in ruins, but as long as it could still move forward, nothing else mattered.
Along the way, they occasionally spotted abandoned vehicles with open doors and pools of blood beneath them, enough to indicate that the humans in this area had been killed or devoured by invading monsters.
