A giant robot loomed like a tower in the middle of the road. To Xiao Qiang, their car looked no bigger than a crawling dung beetle.
Wu Yi jumped out of the vehicle. Beast Claw shot out with a fierce expression, revealing two sharp fangs as he lunged forward, his body leaning in like a tiger pouncing on its prey.
With the force of his charge, his claws struck the robot. The sharp tips met the metal with a screech, sending sparks flying. The robot's iron arm was not so easily dealt with; with just a flick, Wu Yi was sent sprawling to the side.
Wu Yi rolled on the ground a few times, half-crouching and baring his teeth. With a swift motion, he kicked up a gust of wind and charged at the robot again.
The robot faced the cars while Wu Yi pounced from behind, kicking and clawing wildly. Sparks erupted from Beast Claw against the robot's surface, but he failed to inflict any real damage.
Wen Kai shook his head. "This isn't working, Wu Yi."
"Let me give it a try," Li Hang said as he pushed open the car door and stepped out calmly.
"Be careful," Xiao Qiang advised.
"I'm fine."
The pursuing vehicles arrived at the scene, and Xiao Qiang along with Wen Kai got out of their car.
In the center of the chaos, Wu Yi and Li Hang confronted the robot while Lin Yu, Wen Kai, and Xiao Qiang dealt with the incoming convoy at the rear.
Li Hang advanced step by step, his gaze fixed intently on the robot. As he extended his fingers, they grew several times longer, resembling steel spikes that quickened their pace, doubling in length.
The robot had a plasma shoulder cannon that suddenly fired a burst of flame. Li Hang leaned back just in time as the projectile whizzed past him. He quickened his pace and sprinted forward, fingers extended and body leaning in.
Wu Yi struck with both claws, embedding them into the robot's shoulder. The cannon fell silent as he quickly dodged aside. Li Hang charged forward like a whirlwind; his steel spikes transformed into spinning drill bits just as the robot swung its iron fist down upon him. Sparks flew as they pierced into its abdomen.
Under Li Hang's control of the steel spikes, the robot struggled to break free, its expressionless face betraying no hint of pain.
Gritting his teeth, Li Hang twisted the spikes fiercely. Suddenly, the robot trembled all over; smoke began to rise from where it was pierced as if there were short-circuited wires inside. After a few convulsions, it went still.
The pursuing convoy was composed entirely of armed humans wielding AK-52 assault rifles.
"Let me handle this."
Lin Yu concentrated, lowering his head and furrowing his brows as an overwhelming aura emanated from him. With a wave, the firearms in the hands of the pursuers flew out of their grasp. Not only the guns, but even the military vehicles chasing them lifted off the ground, their wheels spinning in mid-air.
This scene terrified several people, leaving them speechless. At a command to run, they scrambled away, wishing they could sprout three legs or grow a pair of wings to escape the danger posed by Lin Yu's telekinetic waves.
"That's enough," Xiao Qiang said, still mindful that they were part of the alliance forces. A little intimidation was fine, but there was no need to harm the innocent.
The pursuers scattered, and the robot was finished. Xiao Qiang looked around and said, "Shouldn't we get going? Let Jin Ming deal with this mess." After a whole day of chaos, the five of them finally breathed a sigh of relief as they settled back into the vehicle they had just fallen from.
"What do we do next?" Wen Kai asked Xiao Qiang.
Xiao Qiang smiled and turned to Lin Yu. "Is it possible to build a five-seat concept supersonic aircraft?"
"That’s a problem. Most current supersonic models are two-seaters," Lin Yu replied with a frown.
"Then how about we use a flying vehicle?" Li Hang suggested; he had no issues with flying machines.
"The MctcH Mech Suit is a must. I like cannons," Wu Yi declared as he reached out decisively to detach the shoulder cannon from the robot for himself.
"Haha, you rascal," everyone laughed.
"Since we're gearing up for a big battle, shouldn't we go have some fun?" Wen Kai winked mischievously. "We can't return to camp after what we've done, so let’s go wild for one night."
"I mean, if you want to play, it shouldn't be too hard..." Li Hang chimed in, looking at Xiao Qiang. "Hey, you should treat us tonight and take us out."
"Don't," Xiao Qiang glanced at Lin Yu.
Lin Yu pretended not to hear and continued discussing the shoulder cannon with Wu Yi.
"We just got out of trouble; we can't go looking for more. Let's rest well tonight. Tomorrow's battle—while they go to the beach, we'll head back to our base."
"Come on, man, it's been ages since I've smelled a woman's fragrance," Wen Kai said, his eyes glinting with a wild, burning intensity, looking restless and eager.
Lin Yu turned to Li Hang and winked. The latter understood and replied, "Hey, I know a fun place."
Xiao Qiang, catching on to the hint, deliberately fell silent.
Wu Yi noticed the awkward atmosphere in the car. They were communicating in gestures when he blurted out, "Why aren't you guys talking? Using sign language?"
Wen Kai was taken aback. "What?"
"Nothing," Li Hang interjected. "This guy Wu Yi is just being silly." He continued, "Wherever there are beauties, you can choose from the plump to the slim."
"Don't mess with me," Wen Kai snapped back, reverting to his usual brash self. Cursing was his style. He then made an inappropriate gesture. "If there are really charming beauties, I'd love to indulge."
"Hey, you better behave yourself," Lin Yu said, clearly annoyed.
"Woman, are you even a woman? Why do you think you're any different from us?" Wen Kai teased.
Lin Yu remained silent.
Xiao Qiang cleared his throat. "Alright, Wen Kai, will you ever change? You're still as irritating as ever." The car kept driving; no one paid attention to the roadside signs since they all knew Li Hang was familiar with the area.
The surroundings were dark except for a well-lit courtyard with a giant neon sign of a simulated beauty hanging above it that read "The Travelers House." Suddenly, Li Hang shouted from the driver's seat, "Get out!"
"Damn it, Li Hang..." Wen Kai cursed as he got out of the car. "I don't want a fake robot prostitute."
"Pfft! I brought you here just to unload your burdens. You think you can develop feelings for real beauties?" Li Hang laughed heartily before adding seriously, "Coming here won't make you feel guilty and can help prevent STDs."
"I’m not going," Wen Kai retorted, retreating back into the car and refusing to get out.
Li Hang, Wu Yi, and Xiao Qiang couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Lin Yu shot a cold glance at Wen Kai. "Go on, have fun. Jack comes here too."
Xiao Qiang asked Li Hang, "Do you come here often?"
"What else can I do?" Li Hang pulled out a cigarette, handing one to Xiao Qiang. "This place is quite nice. The number of humans is decreasing, especially women. In times of war, the instinct to survive is not as strong in females as it is in males. If you calculate it carefully, it's roughly one woman for every hundred men. What are we going to do about it? What will happen in the future?"
"Yeah, but I heard scientists are researching cloning, saving female eggs and then cloning batches of females," Xiao Qiang replied. He had heard this from Han Ming, but he wasn't sure if it was true.
"Nonsense. If humanity had awakened sooner, we wouldn't need artificial beauties and cloned females to relieve our physiological pressures," Li Hang said, taking a deep drag from his cigarette. "So how will humanity's descendants continue?"
