At the Summit of the Desert, a crowd of dark figures stood—indeed, they were people. The raiders were astonished; this was the call of mental strength, an unyielding pursuit that had summoned such a massive throng.
"Quick, speed up!" shouted Lime.
Hagu cracked his whip, the sound snapping against the heads of those who were about to become slaves, emerging from the ship's hold. Jill, with her hands bound on the deck, wept as she gazed at Xiao Qiang, who was also looking at her. "Great Saint, your power is limitless..." With a crack, the whip was caught in Lime's outstretched hand.
Hagu yanked on the whip and cursed, "You just protect this female demon! Her curse has bewitched your mind; you will regret it one day."
Lime shot him a fierce glare but remained silent.
Jill and the others could not understand the beast-like language spoken by their captors.
Amayi spoke to those trapped in the hold with her, "Wildfire Sage will come to rescue us."
"Can he really? The Divine Kingdom's heavenly realm is heavily guarded."
"Why not? Didn't he summon so many people by himself?"
Regarding the legendary heavenly realm of the Divine Kingdom, they felt nothing but fear rather than reverence. The gods of this Divine Kingdom were too brutal; they had once wantonly plundered their property and families.
However, more than that, they feared the Divine Messenger of the Divine Kingdom, who could use magic to turn them into monsters. Thus, regarding the invasion and plunder by Outsiders from the Divine Kingdom, many abducted tribespeople dared not voice their anger or resist even slightly; they could only obey and become lifelong slaves to the Outsiders of the Divine Kingdom. After becoming labor slaves, they would exhaust their energy and toil away, ultimately dying far from home.
In the evil heavenly realm of the raiders' legends—the Divine Kingdom—violence meant death through deprivation. They deprived, discriminated against, and trampled on others' dignity and right to exist.
The gods of the Divine Kingdom were tall-nosed, blue-eyed Outsiders who wielded magic. They exploited the ignorance and cowardice of scattered races to unconditionally enslave them and strip away everything that belonged to them.
There were also tribal leaders unwilling to endure such suffering, eagerly awaiting a savior's arrival—the Saint who could speak with the Toothy Divine Beast. At this moment, Xiao Qiang realized why the International Talent Agency had sent him to this desolate land in Ancient Times.
The future world's humanity was repenting for their past mistakes while attempting to change history, hoping he would overthrow the legend of slavery in the Divine Kingdom.
"I can teach you how to build ships and use this waterway to pursue them."
Half of Xiao Qiang's suggestion was supported by some people. The other half remained neutral without expressing their stance, while another portion found his suggestion unrealistic.
The Sun Tribe belonged to the tribe of sunlight; their aura and mental strength spread across vast lands and seas. Their summons granted Xiao Qiang the strength to continue fighting fiercely.
"The river is like a snake, encircling the entire Sahara Desert. The divine realm of the Divine Kingdom is the Serpent Head, with the tail starting from the territory of the Sun Tribe. They cannot simply charge through the river to reach the Serpent Head, for the Divine Kingdom has installed many deadly weapons at the riverbed near the Serpent Head."
"Then, what about going around the desert to reach the Serpent Head?"
The sage shook his head. "The vastness of the desert will cause anyone who enters to become lost. No one—human or beast—has ever returned alive from the desert. Even if they don't get lost, they will die of thirst."
Some began to waver in their resolve, feeling that this journey would surely lead to death and that it would be better to abandon it. However, Xiao Qiang remained steadfast, insisting that they must pursue and rescue those who had been taken.
"Let's go through the desert."
The Sun Tribe prepared ample water, food, and sticks to fend off wild beasts. With Xiao Qiang leading, those who had previously considered withdrawing from the pursuit regained their determination and courage, vowing to follow Xiao Qiang to the death.
With everything ready, Xiao Qiang finally found a moment of respite. They planned to set off after a grand meal provided by the Sun Tribe, embarking on their journey into the desert.
At that moment, the leader of the Elf Clan approached him and slowly lifted her mask... Xiao Qiang was astonished. "Is that you, Light Spirit?"
"Yes, my master. We have come to assist you this time."
"Wow, this is incredible! I... I can't be dreaming, can I?"
Light Spirit smiled and said, "You are not dreaming; you are our elven leader." As she spoke, she pointed her hand. "Please look."
Following her gesture, Xiao Qiang saw a majestic Saber-Toothed Tiger glowing with white light, lying on the ground.
"What is that?"
"Your mount."
"My mount?" Xiao Qiang was stunned and walked over to reach out. Turning back to look at Light Spirit, she gave him an encouraging glance. His hand gently fell upon the furry and vibrant coat of the Saber-Toothed Tiger, which was surprisingly docile like a large cat, allowing his touch.
A chilling shriek came from behind him. Xiao Qiang turned around; Light Spirit was gone, and so was the Saber-Toothed Tiger. The source of the shriek stood not far away—a humanoid figure known as Mothman, its arms tightly wrapped around its body. Beneath its feet lay scattered bones—remnants of those who had lost their way and perished in the desert.
Xiao Qiang jolted awake in shock. He realized he had fallen asleep leaning against a pile of sand; they had already been traveling for a day and a night. Just as the Sun Tribe had said, they were lost in the desert, wandering in circles without finding a way out for an entire day and night.
The stars twinkled in the night sky. The weary tribespeople were resting, reminiscing about the dreams they had just experienced. Xiao Qiang got up and walked over to the resting area of the Elves to check on them. He looked at each person, but did not see the Light Spirit he had encountered in his dream.
The dream had felt too real; what kind of omen could it be? As he gazed up at the vast night sky in confusion, a blinding light appeared in the distance.
Fixing his gaze on that strange light, he felt as if it was looking back at him. Finally, he moved quietly toward it, and the light began to move as well, heading in a particular direction.
Xiao Qiang tried to stop, and the light stopped too.
They continued this way—walking and stopping—until he lost track of time. Eventually, the light stood still. He approached it and focused closely. What the heck! Wasn’t that the Saber-Toothed Tiger? In his dream, it had been his mount! Doubtful, Xiao Qiang took a step closer, but as a shiver ran through him, he woke up again.
After waking, he slapped his forehead. Dreaming within a dream? This is ridiculous! Xiao Qiang cursed inwardly. Climbing out of his sandy nest, he looked around and saw a bright star winking mischievously at him.
Wasn’t this star the guiding beacon for their journey? Xiao Qiang felt a surge of joy and shouted to the still-resting tribespeople, “Hey, wake up! You all need to get up!”
Following the brightest star in the sky, Xiao Qiang and the others finally made their way out of the Maze-like Desert. Dawn broke, and rays of sunlight began to rise from the east.
In the distance, sounds of commotion reached them, mixed with the deep roars of Mammoths. They rushed toward the source of the noise and exclaimed in awe, “Wow, is this really The Realm of the Raiders?”
