One day, the villa of Luo Wei remained closed for an entire night, while inside, a pair of sorrowful souls embraced each other, reluctant to part. The dinner that Xiao Qiang had meticulously prepared lay untouched on the dining table.
Lin Yu did not loosen her grip on Xiao Qiang's arm. Regardless of how he tried to persuade or comfort her, it was all in vain. They simply held each other tightly, unable to remember whether it was noon or night, as her tears flowed like two streams that never ceased.
Xiao Qiang had his reasons for refusing to take her to Ancient Times; it was a natural ecological zone. The people there were still cultivating the wilderness, and if a V2 Zombie Virus carrier suddenly appeared, all his previous efforts would be in vain.
Lin Yu's eyes did not blink as she focused intently on Xiao Qiang, wanting to witness how he would transform from a normal person into a zombie at the first moment it happened.

This time, he did not wake Lin Yu. Instead, he quickly got up, took the key, and opened the Iron Chain storage room to carry her out. Lin Yu woke in his arms, tears streaming down her face again. "What time is it?"
"Don't worry, there's still two and a half hours left," Xiao Qiang said with a bitter smile as he placed her on the sofa and brought her warm water. "You need to eat; this isn't good for you."
Lin Yu managed to sip some water but remained silent, staring at him with a dazed expression.
Xiao Qiang held her head against his chest. "If I were alive and you couldn't hear my heartbeat, then I would have already become a zombie."
To help Lin Yu stay strong and alive, Xiao Qiang tried various ways to create an atmosphere in the cold and quiet house. He turned on the television and played music.
The familiar sound of jazz dance music reminded Lin Yu of Amy. Amy had been dismantled by Matt; he had repurposed her parts for other uses.
Poor Amy! Evil Matt! How could I not have thought of him?
Xiao Qiang noticed the change in Lin Yu's expression as he cupped her slightly gaunt face with concern. "Wife, you must live well. If I turn into a beastly zombie, you must summon the decisiveness you showed in Tomorrow's Battle and put me down."
Lin Yu stared at him and managed to say, "Yeah, I will."
After settling Lin Yu, Xiao Qiang had just over an hour left. He needed to return to the storage room and lock himself in again.
This time, Lin Yu did not follow Xiao Qiang; she was focused on the television.
The news broadcast was covering a major story: the first attempt at synthesizing a vaccine had yielded negative results. The research team, after announcing their failure, did not give up on their determination to continue trying to develop it, urging the public to be patient.
Lin Yu anxiously watched this segment of hopeful yet disappointing news and wanted to turn off the TV. However, the announcer mentioned another important piece of news: at 3:40 AM yesterday, a group of thugs who had repeatedly slaughtered patients infected with the V2 Zombie Virus had been brought to justice by the relevant authorities. The true identities of these thugs were being verified one by one, and due to the wide scope of involvement, further time was needed for follow-up.
Lin Yu trembled with anger and threw a cushion at the smart display. She needed to pull herself together, fill her stomach for strength, and then seek help from Matt, hoping he could control the virus outbreak within Xiao Qiang.
She couldn't forget that besides Matt, others were also looking for Xiao Qiang. Lin Yu was unaware that a net was already waiting outside for her to fall into. Once the connection system with Matt was activated, GPS tracking would quickly locate them, and the tracking device inside Xiao Qiang would be discovered by the GPS locator.

Matt promised to come rescue Xiao Qiang and reassured her not to be afraid. He advised her to find a safe place to hide and instructed her to destroy the connection system after this link.
Feeling the seriousness of the situation from Matt's words, Lin Yu felt lost as she went to check on Xiao Qiang. There were still 32 minutes and 45 seconds until the V2 Zombie Virus outbreak; she couldn't move or help him. The only way to relieve him from his terrifying state was something she couldn't do!
Nevertheless, as she went to see him, Lin Yu prepared herself. She gripped the dagger that Xiao Qiang had given her, capable of cutting through iron like mud, ready to meet him one last time before Matt arrived.
The proximity made her extremely nervous and fearful. She dreaded what she might see… When she reached outside the storage room door, it was eerily quiet inside, which surprised Lin Yu.
"Xiao Qiang..." she shouted as she pushed open the storage room door. At that moment, several H.D1 silent concept helicopters were already hovering in the air outside the villa.
The soldiers of the alliance, fully armed and swift as shadows, had already descended from the ropes and entered the villa's courtyard. They moved with the agility of cats, each taking their position while holding AK-42 sniper rifles, cautiously approaching the entrance to the main hall.
Matt and Wu Yi drove up in a conceptual SUV, only to find that others had already arrived ahead of them. Matt cursed under his breath, realizing they were helplessly blocked outside.
Xiao Qiang's blood possessed antibodies that granted him immunity; he had not turned into a zombie, but he was far from being well. His appearance frightened Lin Yu—he had a pair of enormous black feathered wings that hung limply to the ground. Because of Iron Chain's Shu Bo, even in his transformed state, he could not fly away.
Lin Yu stared at him in shock, momentarily at a loss for what to do. Outside, a loudspeaker blared: "Listen inside, put down your weapons. We are here to protect you."
What was happening? Lin Yu was dumbfounded. Suddenly, it dawned on him—Xiao Qiang would never become a zombie; his blood contained antibodies. The rumors about the outbreak of the V2 Zombie Virus were primarily aimed at using him for experimentation.
Xiao Qiang was no longer Xiao Qiang; he had transformed into a creature with wings. His eyes no longer resembled those of a human but rather looked like those of an owl, complete with dense fine fur covering his face that appeared particularly unsettling.
"You..." Lin Yu found it hard to believe that Xiao Qiang could have turned into such a monster. The reality was undeniable; she had to accept it. What he had spoken about that day was not mere fantasy or myth; it was all true.
In fact, the vaccine Gene Protein still had some effect on Xiao Qiang, at least enough to control his transformation. Especially at night, under the influence of the malevolent Mothman, he would wander far from his original location into a bizarre world devoid of daylight.
"Help me, break these chains, and the time machine... hurry..." A face covered in fur, resembling that of a half-beast, spoke to her. She was terrified but knew she had no choice but to comply because regardless of what he had become, he was still her beloved.
