Lin Yu pressed the button at the designated time set by Xiao Qiang. The time machine had not passed through Matt and those with ulterior motives; it was directly handed over by Han Ming.
With the army closing in, the situation was dire. Despite this, both of them understood that the people outside still dared not recklessly storm in. In this brief moment of respite, Xiao Qiang suddenly produced a sealed test tube and handed it to her. Inside the test tube was blood.
Looking at the test tube, Lin Yu hesitated to take it, an inexplicable sense of foreboding growing within her. She stared at him suspiciously and asked, "What are you doing?"
"Teacher Li Wen has done so much for you; we cannot forget our roots. The blood in this test tube is pure antibody serum, undiluted with any other V2 Zombie Virus. This serum is a valuable asset to help your teacher out of a difficult situation."
"You knew all of this beforehand?"
"No, I just found out."
"N—no, I don’t want to be separated from you again."
"Be good; this is my mission. I must complete it to resolve the current deadlock."
Lin Yu shook her head repeatedly, stepping back further while staring blankly at Xiao Qiang. She knew that pleading would not keep him, and there was still a secret she hadn’t told him. However, to allow him to focus on his mission, she decided to keep that secret for now.
Xiao Qiang gazed at Lin Yu. "The current situation is chaotic; the place I’m going is truly unsuitable for you. It’s filled with slaughter and evil. The last time I accidentally ended up there, I nearly lost my life."
"What kind of place is it?"
"I don’t know; I was only there for a short time. It felt like a dark realm without daylight—only night."
"Do you really have to go? We promised to visit Ancient Times and see Mirage Tower together."
Xiao Qiang took a deep breath, struggling to control his transforming body. He reached out with clawed fingers, wanting to hold her hand but paused mid-air. Suddenly, he caught a strange scent, followed by a hissing sound—trouble; those trying to break in had thrown tear gas into the room.
"You need to leave! They won’t do anything to me."
"Okay, take care of yourself." Xiao Qiang stood up and spread his enormous wings, enveloping Lin Yu in a heartfelt embrace. "I will come back for you."
Lin Yu was taken aback. "Really?"
"Mm."
In an instant, the room was filled with thick smoke, a pungent odor spreading rapidly. Xiao Qiang hurriedly embraced the time machine and warned Lin Yu, "You must give the contents of the test tube to your teacher. Learn from past mistakes; don't trust those you shouldn't."
"Mm, I remember."
The two shared a bittersweet farewell inside the room, while outside in the villa's courtyard, a different scene unfolded.
Matt led Wu Yi and several newcomers who had just mastered their abilities.
The Professor R, along with his prized disciples Wen Kai and Li Hang, appeared fully armed.
There were also mysterious personnel descending from the H!D1 silent concept helicopter.
Matt and the Professor R found themselves blocked by these armed individuals, unable to enter, while Xiao Qiang became the target of their contention. Strangers to one another, each held their own views, leading to a clash between mutants and armed humans.
Some armed personnel smashed through the floor-to-ceiling windows and tossed in several tear gas canisters. Matt watched anxiously; the Xiao Qiang he was determined to protect was about to fall into the hands of these predatory and ambitious individuals.
The Professor R had ulterior motives for coming this time; he wanted to use this opportunity to completely conquer the unruly Xiao Qiang and make him part of his team. However, he did not anticipate that while they arrived, the area had already been sealed off.
Smoke spread throughout the room, with wisps drifting out of the windows. Under pressure from AK!42 sniper rifles, Matt, the Professor R, and Wu Yi, Wen Kai, and Li Hang—who were eager to fight against the armed humans—could only watch helplessly as the armed individuals, wearing gas masks, charged in.
The outcome was far from satisfactory for many. Xiao Qiang was nowhere to be found; inside was only Lin Yu, who appeared frail and pale.
She had taken precautions; after Xiao Qiang activated the time machine and vanished, she rushed into the bathroom and covered her mouth and nose with a wet towel to guard against the tear gas. So when the armed humans burst in, they happened to see her emerging from the bathroom.
Lin Yu was a formidable woman with a record of achievements; no one dared to harm her. Moreover, after a thorough examination by a military doctor, it was discovered that she was already eight weeks pregnant.
The child was undoubtedly Xiao Qiang's, though he himself was still unaware; this was their love child from Tomorrow's Battle.
Indeed, they did not trouble Lin Yu but instead treated her as a precious asset to protect.
Lin Yu's teacher, Li Wen, was under scrutiny from the organization. He claimed to have used the Vaccine Protein to save lives but hesitated to honestly reveal to whom he had given it.
She went to see Li Wen, handing him the test tube and disclosing the secret that Xiao Qiang had shared with her.
The owner of the Music Store had developed immunity after being bitten by Xiao Qiang. Unfortunately, the serum in his body was V2 Zombie Virus serum; diluting it with even a small amount of Xiao Qiang's serum would not only fail to save lives but could also harm them.
Lin Yu could no longer continue her work; she had to return to Matt's place to protect the fetus. The small saplings she once planted had grown into towering trees, yet she still held hope and anticipation for the child she was nurturing with Xiao Qiang, while also looking forward to the day he would appear before her to take her to Ancient Times to see Mirage Tower.
Xiao Qiang despised this cycle of reincarnation. Each time he went through it, his body suffered from the distortions of time, causing dizziness. This time, Lin Yu had set the time according to his wishes for the early years of 2080 in the Post-Century, at exactly 2 AM, in a desolate area.
As he left Lin Yu, due to the time distortion field, any object within three feet of Xiao Qiang was subjected to catastrophic destruction. What greeted him was a pitch-black void; without the influence of Mothman, he would generally not miss the data from the time machine.
This place was a barren slope, with cold winds rustling and casting eerie shadows among the trees. Focusing on his surroundings, he sought a cave or a house where he could take refuge. His night vision rendered everything in shades of red, a result of his mutated cells.
The shadows danced ominously as an unidentifiable wail pierced through the air. Sensing something amiss, Xiao Qiang knew there were likely no homes nearby. He quickly moved toward the source of the sound; soon, the mournful cries intensified, echoing throughout the Valley.
The sounds did not resemble human voices but rather resembled horse neighs and beastly howls. Feeling uneasy, Xiao Qiang flapped his massive wings and soared into the air. A hundred meters away, he spotted a fiery dragon moving along with horse neighs and hoofbeats accompanied by human speech.
