In the future world of the Previous Century, there are historical records indicating signs of regression in humanity. These regressions manifest in various forms, such as infants born covered in hair, babies with teeth at birth, and even individuals over a hundred years old still losing their teeth—countless instances of regression have been documented.
What kind of unknown era is 2080?
Since the dawn of Earth, a type of life known as Archaea has existed. Over time, countless species have inhabited the planet, but many have faced extinction due to the passage of time and environmental changes. Some species have gradually adapted to harsh conditions and evolved during this transitional period, becoming the dominant life forms on Earth.
There are legends that extraterrestrials intervened in the study of Earth's biology long ago. They injected mysterious information into the brains of those with special abilities, researching humanity in hopes of extracting historical data about civilization from human minds.
Legends can be dismissed until proven true. However, what Xiao Qiang witnessed was indeed reality; he saw three types of beings.
If asked who the ruler of all life on Earth is, some might answer: humans!
But I tell you this answer is incorrect because the three beings he observed were: humans, werewolves, and vampires.
Despite humans being listed first, the true ruler of Earth is the vampire.
Humans possess ordinary bodies and can freely traverse both day and night. Yet they cannot withstand the encroachment and plunder of evil; do not forget that the battle between good and evil has never ceased.
Where there is evil, there must also be justice. Thus, the legend of vampires is not false; this race evolved from humans possesses immortality and a unique lineage.
They can slumber for ages, evolving and mutating in their sleep. Although daylight remains their nemesis, they possess immeasurable abilities.
Nations do not recognize vampires or werewolves, but their absence does not mean they will not appear. After World War II, the world fell into chaos; survival of the fittest became the norm. As long as there was a glimmer of hope, any sentient human would seize every opportunity to survive.
The human race is diverse, and after the world war, aside from the mutated Living Dead and Zombies, there are also vampires and living humans. At this critical juncture, there is no need to distinguish between races or nationalities, which is how the stories of vampires and werewolves began to intertwine with the long-standing Legend of Demons and Gods.
The mixed-blood curse that the people refer to stems from this very reason. Those Mixed Blood vampires and werewolves are everywhere, especially in the mysterious 2080s, where tales of vampires and werewolves abound.
Mutation is an unconscious change, but what kind of suffering comes with transformation after mutation? Perhaps only Xiao Qiang knows. He despises this transformation; at the moment of change, his bones shift painfully, blood flows backward, and a pair of enormous Wings bursts forth from the shoulder blades on his back.
He does not understand how he became this grotesque creature while spying on a vampire driving away a werewolf. He dared not rush out but instead quietly moved to a secluded spot near water.
The water in the darkness resembled a dark magical mirror as he leaned down to look at his reflection.
A furry face, a pair of blood-red eyes, and distorted features stared back at him. He pulled his Tail Wings forward and began to comb through the feathers with his hands.
Xiao Qiang stood still, listening intently. The faint sounds of waves, wind, and whispering fish in the water could not escape his keen hearing. He remained calm and focused, straining to listen.
The surroundings were eerily quiet; the group he had seen earlier had seemingly retreated. Despite their heavy masks, Xiao Qiang could sense from their cold, intimidating gazes that they were not good people.
He felt like just a passerby in this era, waiting to return to meet his beloved Lin Yu. It was better to avoid trouble for now.
However, once the area fell silent, curiosity began to stir within Xiao Qiang. He wondered what those masked individuals had been Surrounding Capture just moments ago.
Xiao Qiang reverted to his original form and returned to the spot where he had previously been. Using his exceptional memory, he found the location where the Surrounding Capture group had passed through—a small village that was eerily lifeless.
On the ground lay charred remains resembling human bodies, and the air was thick with the smell of burnt flesh. Xiao Qiang poked at one of the blackened corpses with a stick; as he prodded it, the body rolled over.
What?! A human corpse? He was taken aback. Continuing to inspect other charred bodies revealed they were all human as well. Strangely enough, each of these human corpses bore a bloodied hole in their necks that had been thoroughly cooked.
In a dilapidated hut, there were tools once used by humans, yet it remained devoid of any life. If Xiao Qiang did not enter the hut, he might never unravel the mystery of human death.
He had not witnessed the details of these people's demise, having deliberately kept his distance to avoid trouble. Inside the hut lay the body of a werewolf that had not reverted to human form. A wolf! Everyone knew what it looked like, but the transformation of a human into a werewolf was terrifying.
With sharp, protruding jaws and incredibly sharp teeth, its skeletal frame had become unusually massive, resembling a mountain. The deceased werewolf appeared to have suffered greatly; its gaping mouth revealed glinting teeth that sent chills down one's spine.
The sight of the dead werewolf's teeth triggered uncontrollable thoughts in his mind, conjuring images of those razor-sharp fangs sinking into one's carotid artery—a horrifying scenario.
Xiao Qiang stepped back from the hut and casually directed the still-burning flames on the ground toward the roof of the hut. He had heard tales of werewolves; they were a highly contagious race. Anyone bitten by a werewolf would undergo genetic changes and become one themselves. Burning this place down was certainly for the best.
However, he overlooked that this was the 2080s, not his own 2050s. In this peculiar and sensitive era, even the slightest disturbance could stir up tremendous waves.
The blazing hut caught the attention of the already retreating Surrounding Capture team. The night was long, and they had already wasted much time. If they returned and did not make it back to their lair by sunrise, it would be tantamount to disaster.
“Father, I’ll go take a look,” spoke the leader's daughter from within the team. Her name was Cold Star; her mother had died at her birth, and her father, Han Shaoyu, cherished her as his most prized possession.
She intended to turn around to see what was happening with the suddenly burning hut—this was the downside of being spoiled and headstrong!
