Lin Yu did not stop her frantic running as she dashed through the Bronze Mirror, escaping from that small room. She grabbed the Time Machine Box and hurriedly hid in another dark room.
Her body trembled violently, and her heart raced. Why was she afraid of Xiao Qiang? She asked herself. Was it his eyes? Or the sudden appearance of the shadowy aura?
Lin Yu pressed her hands against her abdomen, and images of seeing Xiao Qiang transform from behind flashed through her mind. At the same time, a dark thought emerged—Xiao Qiang was no longer Xiao Qiang but a Puppet possessed by an evil creature. Otherwise, why would he treat his own child so poorly? If this thought were true, it would be terrifying. She lay quietly on the ground, too scared to move.
Xiao Qiang searched for Lin Yu, sweating profusely. But in this eerie environment, he couldn't shout; he could only search quietly. He relied on his instincts! Her presence faded from the air like a wisp of mist that he couldn't grasp, leaving him feeling panicked and helpless.
There was no way out of here unless... A flash of inspiration struck him as he thought of the time machine and ran to check. Sure enough, the time machine was gone. It couldn't be! She loved him so much; how could she just abandon him? There was no exit here unless another tectonic shift occurred to lift the Ancient Building out of the desert.
However, Xiao Qiang overlooked the space near the Bronze Mirror.
Speaking of the Bronze Mirror, he felt that everything was surreal, as if he were dreaming, with him and Lin Yu as the protagonists of this dream.
In the Ancient Building, particularly on this side of the Bronze Mirror, there were many incredible houses with peculiar layouts. Though the walls were mottled and appeared old and worn, the ancient beams and carvings still hinted at its former grandeur.
This Ancient Building might have existed for centuries or even longer, slowly sinking beneath the ever-growing desert sands until it became a legend among humans.
Xiao Qiang strolled up to a massive mural and stared coldly at it... Suddenly, a dull thud echoed, followed by a scream of "Ah..." that startled him so much that his hair stood on end. Instantly thinking of Lin Yu, he turned and ran toward the source of the sound.
Lin Yu had been crouching on the ground for too long; her legs felt numb as she stood up unsteadily. Unexpectedly, her head bumped into something wet. Looking up at the light filtering through the broken roof from a Crystal-like substance, she focused on what hung above her head and saw a pulsating flesh-like sack.
The writhing sack had patterns resembling human capillaries. What was this? She instinctively reached for her gun.
This was a disaster; a shrieking creature extended its massive head and bit down on her gun. Startled, Lin Yu had no time to think and pulled the trigger—bang! The creature exploded instantly, splattering milky liquid all over her face and body.
As she screamed in shock, her instincts kicked in, and she covered her face. Then she heard numerous popping sounds from inside the room—like creatures hatching from their shells. Terrified, she hurried to escape but collided head-on with Xiao Qiang as he rushed in.
Gasping for breath with her heart racing wildly, Lin Yu looked up to see Xiao Qiang and completely forgot her earlier fears. She instinctively threw herself into his arms and began to cry softly.
Finding Lin Yu finally calmed Xiao Qiang's racing heart. "It's okay; I'm here!"
"Get out, there are bad things in here."
"What things?"
"I don't know." Lin Yu said with a trembling voice, too afraid to look back at whatever was crawling out of the bag.
Xiao Qiang's gaze shifted over Lin Yu's shoulder, and he couldn't help but gasp. There were many Vampire Cubs, and they had already emerged from the Breeding Bag.
He hurriedly pulled Lin Yu behind him, taking the gun from her hands and firing left and right with a 'bang bang'. With so many of them, how could two handguns possibly handle it?
As Xiao Qiang shot at the Flying Bat Cubs that were trying to attack them, he pulled Lin Yu back. Their only option now was to quickly pass through the Bronze Mirror and seek refuge in the ancient castle.
While retreating and shooting, Lin Yu struggled with the cumbersome Time Machine Box in her arms. Their speed slowed significantly as the hissing Flying Bat Cubs flapped their still-undeveloped wings, diving toward them with the intent to bite.
At that moment, beams of dazzling light shot in from all directions. The whirlwind-like Vampire Flying Bat Cubs let out piercing screams as they were instantly reduced to pools of blood upon impact.
The myriad beams of light that emerged from all sides formed a Sky Net, enveloping the newly hatched Vampire Flying Bats and obliterating them in an instant.
Xiao Qiang and Lin Yu, both shaken, wondered if there were any vampires from the Han Shaoyu Family among them.
"What are these?"
"They're Demon Offspring."
"Vampires?"
"That should be correct."
"What do we do next?"
Xiao Qiang extended his finger to touch the Crystal Wall. "Silver Nitrate really is a vampire's nemesis."
"Hmm?"
"We should scrape off this Silver Nitrate with a blade, boil it down, and turn it into weapons."
"That makes sense." Lin Yu stood by the Crystal Wall, suddenly feeling unwell, experiencing chest tightness and nausea. She swayed slightly, and Xiao Qiang quickly supported her.
Seeing her pale face, Xiao Qiang felt a pang of anguish. "Let's go over and rest for a bit."
"I want to know what those creatures were earlier, and what this Ancient Building has to do with the werewolf that attacked us..."
"I know you have a lot of questions, but can you give me some time?" Xiao Qiang interrupted her, looking at Lin Yu with a tone of inquiry.
"Alright... but I really don't feel well."
Xiao Qiang understood the reason for Lin Yu's discomfort, but she was stubborn! Sighing softly, he forced a bitter smile and said, "Okay, I'll find a clean room for you to rest in."
"If my guess is correct, these Flying Bats existed before the Crystal Wall was completed. This means that the Flying Bats settled here long ago; they want to eliminate the righteous Elf race and are recklessly producing their offspring here. Their goal is to wait for the new generation of Elves to be born so that they can become food for the newly born vampires, the Flying Bats."
Lin Yu felt repulsed at Xiao Qiang mentioning the Elf race. The thought of Elves inevitably brought to mind the lofty Elf King. She didn't want to associate the Elf King with her husband; she would rather he had nothing and was nothing at all.
