Since the Earth came into existence, various forms of life have emerged. In order to survive, these beings require their own living space and the natural resources that surround and extend from it. They continuously strive to improve themselves, adapting and creating unique ways to exist.
The Sun Tribe Forbidden Area has been passed down from the ancestors of the Wapu leader. This place serves as a temporary refuge for those who have been subjected to Exorcism. Anyone affected by Exorcism must spend the most difficult night in the Sun Tribe Forbidden Area, specifically at Dragon Gate Mountain or within its caves.
Dragon Gate Mountain and the Sun Tribe Forbidden Area are also the burial grounds for past Sun Tribe Leaders.
Because this is the resting place of their leaders, it holds a sacred and inviolable status in the hearts of the Sun Tribe. To them, Dragon Gate Mountain and its caves are filled with righteous energy; no matter how fierce evil may be, it will be vanquished by the justice emanating from the many Sun Tribe Leaders.
This is what is known as 'crossing tribulations.' As long as a mortal remains safe through this night, it signifies that evil has departed from them and will not continue to harm them.
This is an unfounded and almost absurd model of Exorcism. How could Xiao Qiang allow them to treat Lin Yu this way? So when Vapsin and his kin turned back, he found an excuse to secretly take a detour around areas where they might encounter each other, sneaking up Dragon Gate Mountain.
Even if Lin Yu needed to cross tribulations, he would stay by her side.
As Xiao Qiang hurried up the mountain, a flash of silvery light suddenly appeared from the clouds. The silvery light moved swiftly, tracing a quick arc before disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Xiao Qiang paused, suspecting he was imagining things. He looked up at the clear blue sky; it was calm and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Amayi had said that no other tribespeople were allowed to step into the Sun Tribe Forbidden Area; anyone who violated this rule would bring misfortune upon the Sun Tribe.
For this ridiculous rule, he could only climb cautiously...
Lin Yu woke up to darkness all around her. What was going on? "Xiao Qiang?" she shouted, but only an echo responded. As she groped around, she thought she saw a flickering light deep within the dark cave; it was particularly blinding. She stood alert and called out, "Who’s there?" The strange light vanished instantly.
She knew she couldn't linger here. Slowly, she got up, using her fingers to support herself against the cold stone wall as she moved step by step toward the cave entrance. Despite making little noise, she startled something inside; a loud whoosh echoed above her as a large mass of black creatures burst out from deep within the cave.
"Flying Bats?" Lin Yu was taken aback. Xiao Qiang had told her that Flying Bats were embodiments of evil and were the original source of vampires. How could so many Flying Bats appear in the Sun Tribe Forbidden Area?
Her head felt foggy, as if she were lost in a cloud. For a moment, she couldn't recall how she ended up in this cave or where Xiao Qiang was. The last time she remembered seeing him was in the desert... Struggling to remember, she finally recalled the Exorcism Ritual.
It was the Sun Tribe Sage who told the chief that she had an evil aura, which led to the idea of an Exorcism. Before the Exorcism Ritual took place, a Sun Tribe Sage gave her a pill made from herbs, and after that, she remembered nothing.
As the black creature burst out of the cave, the already damaged spider web was gone. The poor yet somewhat frightening Flower Spider extended its long, hooked legs and cautiously walked along the cave wall above Lin Yu's head.
Suddenly, the Flower Spider dropped a thin thread vertically and unexpectedly landed on Lin Yu's head. The spider was light, and her focus was entirely inside the cave; she had a strong premonition that something terrifying must still be lurking within. Otherwise, how could it have startled the Bat into flying out?
Her scalp tingled, and she instinctively reached up to scratch. As she did, her hand brushed against the descending Flower Spider, feeling something cold and insect-like.
Realizing she had grabbed a bug, Lin Yu tensed up, goosebumps rising all over her body as she let out a shriek. In a panic, she flung the bug down... Ah! It was a Flower Spider!!!
Lin Yu despised bugs, especially multi-legged ones. Centipedes, spiders, and those brownish straw sandals bugs made her skin crawl. She could face real enemies without fear, but these insects nearly terrified her to death.
The Flower Spider was about the size of her palm; its small body bounced on its long legs as it crawled toward her.
Trembling with fear, Lin Yu was horrified. In a blind panic, she turned to run but felt something was off—wait! What was she doing? Why wasn’t she running outside? Instead, she stumbled deeper into the cave.
After running for a while, she finally realized what was happening. Suddenly turning around to look at the cave entrance...
Lin Yu hadn’t entered the cave without reason; when she saw the Flower Spider approaching, she also noticed a silver futuristic concept light aircraft that seemed to be searching for something. It resembled a streak of silver light and moved swiftly like falling leaves.
As she turned back, she could see what was happening at the entrance of the cave. The long-legged Flower Spider had been squashed by two unidentified Armed Soldiers.
From inside looking out was clear as day; however, looking from outside into the cave was shrouded in darkness. The two armed soldiers were not to be underestimated; their firearms were equipped with flashlights.
Lin Yu had initially intended to run away, but upon seeing who had arrived, she abruptly stopped in her tracks. The Visitors were people she recognized, and to her surprise, these two had resorted to underhanded means to take her away after getting close to her.
Xiao Qiang arrived at the cave a few minutes after Lin Yu had left, but he was too late. All he found was a crushed dead spider and a thick tissue that seemed to belong to a future world.
The tissue appeared damp, and when he brought it to his nose, it had no scent. Feeling puzzled, he assumed Lin Yu was still inside the cave. He glanced around and stepped in.
After walking just a few steps, a strange set of data on the cave wall caught his attention. This was from the Ancient Newborn Era; no one had yet used white powder to depict the future world’s Data Encoding Graphics.
The peculiar Data Encoding Graphics displayed the letters HSJ 2080, along with a large arrow pointing toward the exit. Seeing this coded message made Xiao Qiang's heart sink; he sensed something was wrong.
He wiped away the data with his sleeve and dashed deeper into the cave. As he ran, he shouted frantically, "Lin Yu..." His tall figure raced through the darkness, his mind swirling with confusion like a jumble of code.
The deep cave felt eerily empty. Each step echoed with a crunching sound. A wooden board used for Exorcism Rituals lay discarded, and there was no sign of Lin Yu anywhere.
What was happening? With Lin Yu missing, Xiao Qiang felt panic rising within him. He bent down to search for any trace of Lin Yu but found nothing but a ground littered with white human bones.
Moreover, these bones were crushed; they belonged to past Sun Tribe Leaders. The further he ventured inside, the more bones appeared, as if they were laid out like an artificial carpet.
Could it be that people from the future had come? Not only had they taken Lin Yu away, but they also destroyed the Sun Tribe Forbidden Area? If that were true, it would be disastrous—an inescapable predicament. Xiao Qiang speculated silently before suddenly stopping in his tracks, scanning his surroundings warily as he tried to detect where the strange scent he had caught earlier was coming from.
