Every person's existence is predestined, and every life that exists has its own meaning and value. Xiao Qiang looked at the skull in his hand, as if he understood why he had returned to the ancient Cenozoic era.
According to legend, FUO had long settled on Earth, stealing the history of human civilization and desperately trying to imitate human thought and wisdom. FUO does not refer to a single or defined species of extraterrestrial beings, but rather a type of organism that exists in a star system similar to other species.
The extraterrestrial beings daring enough to inhabit Earth are certainly not benevolent. They might carry a deadly virus, potentially spreading this terrifying contagion to humans whose minds have been bewitched.
The familiar scent in the cave reminded Xiao Qiang of the Sun Tribe Forbidden Area at Dragon Gate Mountain. If this was indeed the Dragon Gate Mountain Forbidden Area, then it should be the back mountain, meaning that passing through here would lead directly to the main entrance of the Sun Tribe Forbidden Area.
The Sun Tribe Leader, Vapsin, had been deceived by lies fabricated by the Sun Tribe Sage and sent him to Taiyin Valley, where he nearly lost his life. It seemed that something terrible had happened in the Sun Tribe after my departure. Xiao Qiang thought to himself as he wrapped the peculiar skull in a piece of tattered cloth and strode forward.
Historical records indicate that long ago, a type of FUO creature known as Catcher appeared in the star system. The Catcher creatures can also be considered a type of alien; they are nomadic organisms under the control of a powerful species residing in a certain star system within the Cosmic Star System. The Catchers were dispatched to Earth to spy on humanity and capture humans to take back as specimens for their star system.
Without personal experience, legends exist as vague, non-existent concepts in everyone's hearts. Accidentally passing through what seemed like a cave blocked between two great mountains concealed unknown secrets.
The fresh biological skull could only indicate one thing: something mysterious had occurred here not long ago, or even more recently.
As for what that mysterious event was? In Xiao Qiang's speculation, it likely wasn't anything good. The shattered bones on the ground and the newly added corpses all seemed to foreshadow some impending horror.
In the dark cave, a person walked silently alongside a hyena that was still in an evolutionary stage, becoming more human-like. Xiao Qiang intended to gift this half-human-sized hyena, which appeared fierce yet understanding, to Amayi.
The main cave was deep with many branches; cold winds from all directions made Xiao Qiang feel increasingly chilled. The hyena ran for a while before turning back to glance at him and then continued running.
On the ground lay a shiny object emitting a faint glow that caught Xiao Qiang's eye. He crouched down to pick it up and discovered it was an ordinary ring! However, calling it just a ring seemed somewhat absurd. It felt heavy in his hand, its surface adorned with bizarre patterns and featuring a blue stone.
Perhaps it had been lying on the ground for too long, absorbing earth energy along with dust from the cave, making the ring somewhat dirty. Xiao Qiang wiped it with his sleeve and found that the blue stone was a movable entity that could rotate.
Whatever it was, since he found it, it belonged to him now. Xiao Qiang tucked the ring into his pocket and continued walking casually. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks; his ears twitched as he quickly turned around to see the hyena running back towards him with its finger raised.
Surprisingly, this hyena was quite obedient and understood his gestures; it approached him quietly without causing much commotion.
Xiao Qiang's keen hearing and sense of smell proved exceptional when he took shelter behind a protruding rock just large enough to conceal both of them. From the other end of the main cave, a shadow suddenly darted in.
The shadow possessed the same night vision as Xiao Qiang. It seemed to be searching for something, crawling on the ground inch by inch, silent and devoid of any human warmth.
Under Xiao Qiang's night vision, this creature was definitely not human. Lacking warm blood, it appeared as a pale shadow; its existence was tangible, but there was no Human Blood in its capillaries.
If it wasn't Human Blood, then what was it? A corpse!
Xiao Qiang moved slowly, trying to observe this being from the best angle. Perhaps it was a relative of the alien skull he had seen earlier.
As the humanoid creature crawled up and faced Xiao Qiang's line of sight, he was taken aback. Wasn't that the Sun Tribe Sage? How had he ended up like this?
Before him was a ghastly pale face, blood-red eyes, and at the corners of his lips were stains that could either be Human Blood or something else entirely.
How had he turned into a vampire? Xiao Qiang was stunned, momentarily forgetting his perilous situation.
Just then, a hyena caught the scent of fresh blood in the air. Greedily flaring its nostrils, it lunged toward Xiao Qiang and the Sun Tribe Sage from its hiding spot.
The agile hyena sensed danger approaching its master and recklessly rushed out to save him. Despite its size, it stood no chance against the Sun Tribe Sage.
The hyena let out a beastly howl.
The Sun Tribe Sage extended his sharp claws, revealing fangs at the corners of his lips as he lunged at the hyena...
The hyena let out a piercing scream as Xiao Qiang struck with his dagger, slicing through the air with a fierce wind toward the Sun Tribe Sage.
When the Sun Tribe Sage was still an ordinary person, he couldn't sense Xiao Qiang's aura. But now he had developed the ability to distinguish and feel it. A powerful aura bore down on him; how could he afford to linger?
Seeing the Sun Tribe Sage feign an attack and attempt to flee, Xiao Qiang flicked his fingers, spinning the dagger in his palm into a dazzling arc before launching it directly at the retreating Sun Tribe Sage.
The dagger pierced through his arm, cleanly slicing through his sleeve but missing any vital points. It clattered to the ground with a crisp sound. Xiao Qiang quickly ran a few steps to retrieve it and took off in pursuit.
The hyena behind him had not sustained serious injuries; it let out a howl and sprinted after him. When they reached the cave entrance, everything outside appeared gray and dim. The blood on the dagger instantly began to peel away as if it possessed life of its own.
The situation was eerily similar to the earlier encounter in the cave with the monsters. Xiao Qiang felt a slight tremor; could it be that the alien inside the cave was Catcher? If the Sun Tribe Sage had ulterior motives in sending him away from the Sun Tribe, then he must have been here with the aliens that night.
Things seemed to become clearer. The Sun Tribe Sage might be trying to obtain something in the forbidden cave. Yet, he was wary of Xiao Qiang, which is why he had thought to send him to Death's Corner, where no one could stop his plans.
If this were true, it aligned perfectly with his previous thoughts. What Xiao Qiang needed to do now was to hurry back to the Sun Tribe, tear off the false mask of the Sun Tribe Sage, and expose the ugly face hidden beneath it.
Just as Xiao Qiang was preparing to descend the mountain, a fiery dragon surged up from below, or rather, it was a large group of Sons of the Sun brandishing torches.
Were they here to pick me up? He speculated as he swiftly made his way down with the hyena. Naturally, he encountered the Sons of the Sun along the way; they were not there to escort anyone but to capture livestock.
Xiao Qiang found himself surrounded by them, hearing angry shouts and curses ringing in his ears. He looked at them in confusion while trying to restrain the hyena that seemed eager to pounce on them.
The boisterous Sons of the Sun initially did not notice the hyena, but upon seeing it, they hurriedly retreated, chattering nervously among themselves.
Xiao Qiang's ears felt like they were about to explode from the cacophony of noise buzzing in his head.
He scolded the hyena and gestured frantically with simple signs to ask the furious Sons of the Sun, "What’s going on with you all?"
