In the city where Xiao Qiang and Lin Yu last parted ways, a vial of diluted serum against the V2 Zombie Virus, brought back from a distant era, was stolen long ago.
New search directives were issued regarding the matter, but unfortunately, no trace of the thief was found. Over a decade passed, and two bodies were discovered in Dongjiawan, reduced to mere pulp.
As various natural chains were broken one after another, humanity lived in fear, trembling through their days. Their living space shrank; after countless changes and brutal killings, survivors were scattered, forced to reside in places they deemed safe.
One misfortune followed another as incidents worsened. The last outbreak of the V2 Zombie Virus seemed to have been completely controlled between 2050 and 2062. But who could have known that a new wave of disaster would descend again? Ordinary humans faced not only hardships but also threats from the Wolf Clan and vampires that roamed among them.
Before a long-abandoned villa stood a young man with a haggard face. The dilapidated structure had dark windows, and bloodstains marred the walls inside—everything was shockingly vivid.
What had happened here? Xiao Qiang reached out to touch one of the bloodstains with his finger. A jolt of energy surged through him like an indescribable force. As his fingertip made contact with the blood spot, strange images flooded into his mind…
The cries of infants, the screams of women, chaotic footsteps, and the howls of beasts. Heaven! Xiao Qiang struggled to break free from the phantoms, swaying slightly as he steadied himself, his chest rising and falling as he gasped for breath.
Matt was not here; neither was Yun nor Professor R. Where had they gone? What about the child? Was he with Han Shaoyu? With heavy steps, Xiao Qiang turned back three times as he walked down the steps of the villa.
A pair of hawk-eyed Old Eye Mask figures watched Xiao Qiang as he walked under the shadows of the trees. One whispered something to his companion before turning away alone.
A solitary shadow appeared lonely as Xiao Qiang walked on. Suddenly, he spotted someone standing quietly in the shadows of the trees. Wu Yi! Yes, it was him.
Wu Yi looked at Xiao Qiang's despondent expression and smiled sadly. He patted Xiao Qiang's shoulder and said, "We arrived a moment too late… I'm sorry!"
"What happened here?"
"There are many legends; which one do you choose to believe?" Wu Yi glanced meaningfully at Xiao Qiang as they both moved away from the spot toward a car parked by the roadside.
"It depends on what it's about."
Inside the car sat Matt, but surprisingly, Yun was nowhere to be seen.
Wu Yi said that during that battle, Yun sacrificed himself.
"Why are you hiding things? Just tell me what happened!"
Seeing Xiao Qiang erupt in anger, Wu Yi dared not speak.
Matt stared thoughtfully ahead, the self-driving car maintaining a moderate speed. The sound of the wheels crunching against the road felt particularly jarring in that moment. Silence enveloped the car; no one made an effort to break it. Xiao Qiang glanced around, his mouth moving as if he was about to speak.
Matt seemed to be talking to himself: "A long time ago, we discovered a large amount of 'junk DNA' from your brain measurements. This junk DNA contains no genetic factors but is remarkably stable. No matter how we tried to decode this set of 'junk DNA' in you, we couldn't figure it out. So we suspect this is a set of information encrypted by an Alien System in your brain. At that time, R suspected it was related to some mysterious element, but unfortunately, we lacked the means to identify that element. It now appears that when you were very young or just born, your brain was implanted with information from some mysterious creature."
"Is this related to the Lin Yu incident? What about my child?"
"There is a connection; that's why I'm telling you this." Matt's deep gaze remained fixed ahead as he continued, "Your entire life has been under the watch of that mysterious creature. Matt and Wu Yi showed no signs of panic; they remained calm and indifferent as they observed Xiao Qiang's transformation.
Xiao Qiang gasped for breath, slowly returning to his normal form as the tension in his face gradually eased. "Tell me, what should I do next?"
"Lin Yu is under control; she has no chance to show herself now. She can only hide in dark tunnels and basements where light cannot reach. We need to see if we can find her," Matt said with a look of sorrow.
Tunnels? Xiao Qiang wondered silently, "Who has her under control?" He recalled what had happened on the train—the mysterious person who had helped him shoot the werewolf in the tunnel. No way! In 2080, wasn't Xiao Yu still alive? How could she possibly be dead? Or killed by her own mother?
Matt answered Xiao Qiang's question, "A group of unknown individuals, R also perished in that incident. Wen Kai and Li Hang are missing, and Lin Yu's teacher Mukai, along with Li Wen, encountered problems one after another. You understand..."
"Where is the child's body?" This feeling was familiar to Xiao Qiang. When he mentioned this matter, he recalled just returning from 2080 and asking another person. The topic of inquiry was somewhat different; that time he was asking about Lin Yu and their graves...
