Xiao Qiang gagged violently, the veins in his neck bulging, his face flushed red, clearly a result of his agitation.
Lin Yu's disappearance was a mystery, surrounded by speculation and overwhelming public pressure. But who truly sought the clues to uncover the truth? He couldn't believe she would harm her own child.
However, there was one thing Xiao Qiang knew for certain: it was possible that Lin Yu, in a moment of clarity, had killed the child to prevent it from falling into the hands of unknown individuals.
Even so, it made little sense. Lin Yu's gentle yet strong character had been so eager for the child's birth; she had even turned against him in Ancient Times and returned to the future world alone for the sake of their child.
The vehicle came to a stop as they arrived at their final outpost. Matt got out first, followed by Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi.
Xiao Qiang asked, "How did you know I was going to this place?"
"Just a feeling," Wu Yi shrugged.
"What do we do next?"
"Let's take a break first, then use the nano infrared tracker to see where other Ability users are located."
Thinking about the nano infrared tracker reminded Xiao Qiang of what he had inside his capillary. Matt and Wu Yi were not relying on intuition; they had come prepared.
"Please find a way to get the stuff out of my capillary."
Matt paused for a moment, his brow twitching slightly as he said, "You really want to retrieve the Nanobots tracker?"
"Yes."
Matt pondered for a moment before giving Xiao Qiang an apologetic smile. "Alright, but it's risky."
"What do you mean?"
"Actually, this nano Micro Robot tracker will gradually dissolve in your capillary; it's impossible to extract it." Matt said seriously, appearing genuine without any pretense.
“……” Xiao Qiang asked suspiciously, “So how did you find me?”
“Because you would go to that place,” Matt replied in an undeniable tone. After saying this, he walked straight into the house and said to Wu Yi, “Keep an eye on the situation outside.”
Wu Yi went outside to patrol while Xiao Qiang followed Matt into the house.
“Lie down here,” Matt gestured for Xiao Qiang to lie on a specially designed bed, which was similar in design and structure to the sponge bed of the Shagu Family. On the left wall beside the sponge bed, there was a large projector and a developer.
Xiao Qiang lay down, and the developer began transmitting data from his body to the projector. The wall immediately transformed into a three-dimensional screen displaying his cellular, skeletal, and muscular structures.
Through the muscle cells, one could clearly see the bones and the bone fluid flowing within them. The blood circulation in the capillaries flowed without any abnormalities… except for two shadowy spots on his back bones that could not be displayed.
Matt glanced at Xiao Qiang and said, “These are your wings.”
“Do you know what I look like when I transform?”
“Yes.”
“I want to know how you turned me into this.”
“The genes of an owl are mixed within you; this is part of Professor R's research on human-animal hybridization,” Matt's voice grew quieter, filled with guilt that made it hard for him to look Xiao Qiang in the eye.
“Why? Why do this to us?” Xiao Qiang's tone was cold as he stared blankly at the invisible patterned ceiling above. “What else have you done to Lin Yu?”
“Nothing, I was just a step behind this time…”
“Lin Yu was harmed by you; you knew she would give birth to something unnatural, so you panicked…” Xiao Qiang shouted angrily. “ Professor R is actually the owner of that villa; he was acting, wasn’t he?”
“I truly didn’t know about that.”
"How could you not know? He is cunning and treacherous, unwilling to grow old, and will definitely find a way to cling to his life. Or perhaps..." A sudden thought struck Xiao Qiang, and he realized a terrifying possibility.
Matt, overwhelmed by the barrage of questions, found himself flustered. When he noticed Xiao Qiang fall silent, he guessed that he must have had some kind of revelation and quickly pressed, "What did you think of?"
"You haven't forgotten about the Shigu incident, have you?"
"Hmm?" Matt encouraged Xiao Qiang to continue.
"If someone doesn't want to die, they have talent but can't afford to waste time. When the moment finally arrives, they will take action."
Matt was taken aback. "Why didn't I think of that?"
"Yes, we must find him." Xiao Qiang decisively removed various devices from his body and got dressed. "I want to check out the Dongjiawan Tunnel." As he stood up, he felt a bit unsteady.
Matt said anxiously, "Running back and forth like this is exhausting; even an intelligent system could crash. No, you need to rest for a bit."
"The time machine is on the train at Dongjiawan Tunnel." Xiao Qiang felt genuinely tired; his eyelids were heavy as if weighed down by a mountain. With Matt's support, he felt as if he were floating on clouds and fell asleep without realizing it.
The surroundings were quiet, but in the stillness, something felt off. Xiao Qiang was asleep, yet in his consciousness, he saw a pair of strange eyes above him.
The dream was bizarre; he looked up. To his shock, there was a shadow with its hands pressed against the ceiling. A pale face with deep, bottomless eyes stared directly at him.
Was it Lin Yu? He tried to speak but couldn't make a sound. Just then, the shadow gracefully flipped off the roof and landed with a thud! It sounded as if many people were running—heavy and clumsy footsteps accompanied by labored breathing.
Werewolves!!! Xiao Qiang jolted awake and scrambled up but was met with a punch from the shadow in the dark. His head spun dizzily; cold hands grabbed him and pulled him away.
He sensed countless werewolves leaping toward him from behind.
"Get inside." The commanding voice left no room for resistance as Xiao Qiang felt himself thrown into a pitch-black room. Outside, chaotic sounds erupted—crackling noises and heavy panting mixed with gunfire. Damn it, Matt! If you're leaving, just go! Why did you have to inject me with morphine?
Matt intended to let him rest in peace, but he didn't expect the werewolf's keen sense of smell to lead it here so quickly. The werewolf had tracked Xiao Qiang's scent from the corpse in Dongjiawan Tunnel.
There was no doubt that it was Lin Yu who had rescued Xiao Qiang.
He felt weak all over, his consciousness hazy, and everything he saw and heard felt surreal. It was as if he were in a hallucination or a dream, yet the roar of the beast was all too real.
The roar of the beast unsettled him. Stumbling, he pushed open the door and saw her, shooting arrows with precision. Her lips were tightly pressed, her gaze resolute, as if she had returned to Tomorrow's Battle. Was she his Metal Slut or his lover?
With an eighty-degree spin, she fired rapidly—bang bang bang! Bullets rained down on the werewolf lunging from the wall. The hit werewolf fell to the ground, instantly transforming back into human form.
A figure appeared around the corner, initially human but gradually revealing its werewolf form as it ran. Xiao Qiang staggered, trying to stop it from harming her.
Quickly reloading her weapon at close range, she fired again—bang bang bang! She was running toward the fierce werewolf that was still transforming, not retreating but charging forward.
When she reached the werewolf that had been shot dead before it could fully transform, she gritted her teeth and fired two more shots into it.
"Lin Yu?" Xiao Qiang's consciousness remained foggy; he wanted to grasp her but felt it wasn't real. He thought to himself: Damn you, Matt, you've really put me in a tough spot this time!
